    Do some of you remember the Boer War in South Africa? I do. My ancestor was a Boer General. No worries, though, it's been so long. A YT comment hardly does it justice, but I'm so disappointed and sorry that it seems like our current government did not light the Commonwealth Beacons like I would've expected them to do. It would've been a final, yet solemn show of reconciliation and thanks to Britain's contribution to this country's progress. It's my solemn wish that one day, we will set this dishonour right. If any Brit would be so kind to read, my great-grandfather respected Britain's role in the world as much as his colleague, General Jan Smuts, did. If we had any say left, those Beacons would've been lit in all their glory. Pure respect for Her Majesty, our last Queen. From Pretoria, South Africa.

      The Boer war was one of Britain's worst ever decisions, and one of the only times in which I do not support my countries actions. It's a terrible shame that those two wars ever happened. Much love from Britain 🇬🇧

    • @johann.9271
      @johann.9271 2 года назад +2

      @@Dryhten1801 Oh, it brings such appreciation to me that you even know of those times. Today, we've completely reconciled with it. We even clean and maintain nearby British soldiers' graves. From the Lincolnshire Regiment. That's why I needed to see some tribute from South Africa for this Jubilee. My great-grandfather would've been a proud man seeing his descendants giving old foes the respectful last honour they deserve. But we'll do it in our own way some day. And we'll sing God Save the Queen. One last time.

      Although I do not remember the Boer War I learnt about it from my Grandparents and at school.The reason the Boers lost was that there were not enough young men to fight and British troops were arriving by the boat load.

      don't forget the hundreds of thousands of slaughtered bears they wear as hats. That ought to make you want to puke into their trombone. Yeah...after centuries of military walking around, a carnival would have been nice for the PEOPLE instead of always EVERYTHING just for Liz. She could get her sticky fingers into her own coffers and pay for rides, water slides, games, lights, food, drinks, candy for one lousy day for the people who set her up with 6,600 MILLION ACRES OF LAND AND 72 BILLION POUNDS to keep in her holes in all her palaces.
