    I'm super jaded by modern Christian music. (We're pretty much hymn people and indie Christian artists like The Gray Havens and Sarah Sparks). Hearing your heart and how legitimately you believe in raising your kids to know the Lord, we will be bringing your music into our house!

    Fear you don't own me. Oh, I love her! I met her parents at the homeschool conference in Pigeon Forge. They were so nice, they seemed like such good people. She should (if she doesn't already) connect with Rory Feek, he has a musical/Homestead/ homeschool festival at his farm in June. He just started it the year before last, we have been both years and we have tickets for next year already. We have 12 children, and we are a homeschooling family with 67 acres in east Tennessee. I mention the festival because she would be a amazing addition to the festival as she is a perfect blend of what he puts together there.

    Ok girls.. y’all are point on. Being a baby boomer we were indoctrinated, (or I was) that I was going to change the world. Yeah! But when it came down to it I knew my calling was to be a wife and mother. And the best I could be. Stay at home Moms were criticized and thought of as “lazy”. (They will never know). I did work before marriage. If your home life is rewarding and right it doesn’t happen sitting around painting your toes. You are nonstop busy. I’m jealous because you both homeschool and live in country. That way you have more control
    Over your children and time. It was hard to say “no”. Not with my children’s Sunday School and School but volunteer for nonprofits. We were expected to have all the time in the world for everybody else excluding our family. I’m proud of you young ladies realizing that what and how you are raising your children is so much more important than the influence out there❤️❤️❤️❤️

      I find your self awareness refreshing..yes the baby boomer generation was the first generation where 90 percent had televisions but there were only 3 stations and everyone watched the same shows. People started to trade their passions and learning for tv time.. studies were done on this...😊 It is called programming for a reason...they actually had a well known psychologist help to educate them on how to influence the public..in subtle and not so subtle ways. I am a homemaker and homeschooling mom and I find all you said to be correct. people somewhat still think this way in the older generations and somewhat my generation. I am a Xinnial...born very early eighties

    I think those of us that have property need much less, "homeschool" programs. MY youngest is 20 the oldest 39. they had time to learn many things. I think homeschoolers that live in a small house in town don't have places to run and maybe they need more things away from home. I agree with you. We did 4-H and piano lessons and that was pretty much it.

    This was one of my favorite episodes!
    I really do believe that even though it seems the world just gets crazier and crazier, we are seeing a true heart shift in many Christians away from the world (“IN it, but not OF it”). Hearing godly women sharing their hearts is so encouraging. I just cling to these conversations so I can walk out into the world with renewed energy and purpose. 💗

    My husband’s a public school teacher so homeschooling wasn’t an option in his mind, but we taught on top of public school for their entire childhood. Today one daughter’s a teacher, one is a microbiologist and all love our homestead food, animals and life style. The skills we have, as parents, is to be shared over a lifetime with our loved ones, but making time for each other to go with the flow together is beautiful. Someone once scolded me for not having my kids in enough out of home activities - so wrong! Protect the time child have to go at their on pace and find activities that they were born to enjoy. ❤

      @@emilycobb838 I started homeschooling at 6 months old so by kindergarten my children could read and write ahead of their classmates. Then I kept up on teaching on top of what they learned in school adding to their lessons and mine with activities to peek educational interests until 7th grade. That’s when we did more trips than book work because public school was giving more homework and they were involved in sports. Since cooking and shop classes were not in public school I taught at home daily

    I’m listening to this - Thank you! - as I bake a blueberry pie for one daughter we’re visiting Saturday taking our adult daughters to a new (to us) road trip to a zoo in another state. At the same time I’m preparing sides for meals to easily heat up during the week, fed my sourdough starters, made flax seed hair conditioner, cooking a quiche for tomorrow’s breakfast and chopping fresh picked peppers to freeze for future meals. It’s my day off from a full time job outside the house, but I organize my activities to get the most done that make me happy so I don’t feel stressed during the week

    I think your choices are wonderful for you, but I hope you are not limiting your daughters to your own choices. Are they aware they can become doctors, lawyers, teachers, whatever if they want to? They can still bake on week-ends if they want, etc. I have sons, and all their wives have careers from dr to teacher, and are sweet mommies, as well.

    • @KittyCuties33
      @KittyCuties33 Год назад +4

      From what I've seen, she's living what she feels is best for her and her family right now. Her daughters are seeing that being a mom is an important and happy job to her, which is important for their healthy development and worth as children, whatever they decide to do in the future. While they may want to also do other things and influence others for good in other ways as they grow, it's okay to want to be "just" a mom too if they feel called to that. We can still develop and share our talents in motherhood and with others. I also chose motherhood, but I'm also developing my writing talent and others. Despite the popular saying of "women can do it all," we really can't and do each job exceptionally well, nor can we do it all on our own. It's not realistic or healthy for us to expect to; we all need each other. Some things will end up sliding to the back burner. We just get to choose what those things are. We all need balance and saying "no" for our mental health and different things need to take priority at different times. I'm so glad for all those who help others outside the home like nurses, teachers, etc. But that status doesn't mean that those who only choose motherhood are "not enough" or not making a difference in their different choice. It's important to encourage all moms, and sometimes these conversations can come across that way on either side. Both ways are important and needed for different people and different seasons of life and for society to function well. :)

    • @annabruce840
      @annabruce840 Год назад +1

      @@KittyCuties33 I apologize -:I certainly did not mean to imply being a mother was not enough for a woman. I just had a gut feeling that they felt it was the best way, and I think that dishonors women who wish to also work outside the home. Both should be respected choices.

    • @KittyCuties33
      @KittyCuties33 Год назад +1

      I can understand that and agree they should be respected. While I am also passionate about and believe motherhood is a divine calling for women as providing and protecting are for men, due to our different natures and unique gifts, there are many situations and people for whom that cannot happen in the traditional ways, and different families can choose how it works best for their families with what they believe. I'm glad different opportunities are available to continuing learning and helping. Many I know long to have children but can still find ways to nurture others around them, often through work or service. Some cannot provide in the traditional sense due to disability or other things, but providing can be done spiritually and emotionally too. Some work outside the home, others work in the home. Lisa does both too, like your daughters-in-law: her job as mother and homemaker, and her job with RUclips, even though it's done from her home too. It's just hard in our modern age where it seems like children's needs get pushed to the side sometimes. It's painful. It harms kids when either parent's work becomes more important than raising and caring for them, though it's hard if it's a necessity for providing needs. Balance is so needed. There's so many factors.
      I think a lot of it comes down to identity. Who are we as women? What is our purpose here as a different individual? How can I use my talents and the gifts enherent in my nature to bless others? What do I feel God is calling me to? How do I balance caring for others and developing myself? These are sometimes hard questions to figure out. I do believe that if we listen, God will guide us in the best paths for us. :)

    • @Simplefarmhouselife
      @Simplefarmhouselife  11 месяцев назад +1

      First a parent always knows best for their own children than anyone else. Second I am a work from home mother who has created a business that allows us to be home together as a family, building the life we love and making money. To assume you or anyone else has a deeper insight into our parenting than we do, is making a huge leap. My social media platforms are a very tiny glimpse into aspects of our life...not representative of our entire life...not even close.

    • @KittyCuties33
      @KittyCuties33 11 месяцев назад

      @@Simplefarmhouselife It's true that online content is just a portion of our lives. Sometimes when watching videos I still need to remember that while videos may appear calm and having things together, no one's life is like that all the time, and that's okay because it's part of the human experience. It's not supposed to be happy and calm all the time, but it helps to find those good moments in all the chaos and trials. I do disagree with you slightly that parents always know what's best for their children. I definitely don't. Sometimes my instincts kick in, sometimes I feel tugs from my conscience or the Holy Spirit, other times I need help from others to know how best to help myself and my kids, etc. And it's certainly harder to know if I'm doing the right thing sometimes when I'm also trying to undo unhealthy beliefs/patterns that have been passed down to me. But even when I don't know what's best, I'm so glad God does and He can help guide me to answers. We can do the best we can to teach our children's hearts good values, and God is there to help us along the way. If I'm really listening and striving to follow God's will and correction for me and my family, it's easier to go forward with confidence and peace, even when others believe otherwise. Thank you for sharing some of your journey and life with us. You and others have helped me remember to cherish the joy and little moments with the season I'm in, which can sometimes feel hard.
