Nice work. I think that is the exact same one I used on my 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L) radar/laser detector. ZERO issues since the install. It turns on/off with the engine.
After all that tidy work - the glass-based suction cup just seems off. Get a mirror post mounting bracket. Decent, vibration-free ones run around $40 to $50.
@@Donslife Yes, and apologies if my comment sounded critical to the nature of your video. Didn't mean it quite that way. I came for the wire-tap side of the video, and your help with that is spot on.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this for both a dashcam and radar detector? Would my mirror supply enough power? My dash is starting to crash where the wires hang and I would rather route them directly to the mirror and free up some ports rather than run all around my trim. Thanks!
Do you know of any harness i could use to power a dash cam on 2024 gmc sierra 1500. I konda dont wanna be running wire from the battery or a side fuse box
Radar Detector is NOT going to keep you from getting more speeding tickets. Instant On Radar will let your Radar Detector let you know you just got busted. But give it a Shot.
you'd be surprised how many cops don't even use instant on radar, and radar detectors can pick up a police before they even can get your cars speed or detect you if they're using anything besides instant on, most people don't carry radar detectors so it's not really a concern.

Thank you for amazing camera shots and solid instruction. You gained a fan.
Welcome aboard!
Solid video man. Other videos people really are over complicating it

I agree. Handy for whatever you want to plug in up there
Awesome video! I followed all the steps for my JCW Mini (BMW) lol. Mounted my valentine perfectly.

Well the video was to focus on one specific DIY project. I would also recommend something like a blendmount product as well.

Thanks for sharing.. going to install a dash cam on my 2016 yukon
Glad I could help
Awesome idea and video… Thanks!
No problem
So how do you get the ACC power and the BATT power for dash cams with parking mode that don't need to be turned on all the time, from the mirror?
Do they sell one with a usb c connector for a dashcam?
Outstanding video.
Thanks 🙏🏻
How did you identify the positive and negative wires ?
Using a test light or voltmeter
Great video do you know if this product will work for a dash camera on a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee thx
I recommend checking out the website. Info in the video description

Do you have any mirror tap 5v dash cam videos? Want to put one in my 2020 GMC 3500 and our 21 Tahoe.
Does the 2020 Chevy Silverado provide constant power to the rearview mirror constantly even when the truck is powered down?
No it does not. It only has ignition switched power.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this for both a dashcam and radar detector? Would my mirror supply enough power? My dash is starting to crash where the wires hang and I would rather route them directly to the mirror and free up some ports rather than run all around my trim. Thanks!
It would all depend on the current draw for the devices.
Can't seem to find the 5V one for dash cams. Could you possibly point me there?
Try blendmount.com only certain dash cam brands will be compatible

Does this work for radar and dash cam?
It can work for both but not every model of the devices. You’ll need to look at the current requirements
Heckuva idea!
AT4 and Cadillac have harnesses ordered. It is a little different for those installations
So you can’t use this for a camera and a radar detector at the same time ?
You might be able to depending on the amount of current available at the circuit. It may differ by vehicle
Would I need any tools to install
Probably some basic tools would be helpful. Small screw driver set and a little pry tool
How do i fix it randomly turning off because the wire isn’t secure?
The wires are secure in my installation. Maybe try bending a slight curve in the loose one to create a tighter fit.
I have a 05 Yukon I can tap into the auto diming or the air bag light on the mirror or the weather temp on the mirror which should I use
I would try the auto dimming circuit
Very nice 👍💯
Clean install!
I tried this. It worked. But the power stays on… it never turns off. What am I doing wrong?
Mine shuts off (BMW) after 7-10 mins when the vehicle is turned off. Turns back on when I open the door
Radar detector? Heavy foot, huh?
Yessir baby can't hide it
These things are a must if u have a busy life lol

Always a risk as more officers use that tech, but (for me) speed camera alerts alone can save me some headache.

false lol you never used one in your life for sure😂
Just set your cruise control at the speed limit require per highway mph and save yourself some money and aggravation from police.
Sound advice but I need to be the leader
