You really can't expect the authors of these manga channels to understand these nuances, though, and you will notice through them that Japanese culture dislikes extremes: they look down upon people who are quiet and reserved (calling them introverts) AND upon people who are too outgoing and draw too much attention (calling them flashy and stand-outs). Japan's culture demands that everyone conform to certain standards, which means behaving exactly a certain way; those that do not are labeled and ostracized.

What a heartwarming reunion between Kouichi and Aoi when they finally met at school! Aoi's attachment to Kouichi is great. But that made him uncomfortable because they're at school and everyone criticizes him because he's known for being a loner / introvert. This made him having an inferior complex. It's a great decision for him to fix himself to become a worth person for her because she also did this when she was at abroad as well to meet him again. All those days paid off and they become lovrs in the end. That thumbnail is like one of Manga Sarubedo's videos. Almost identical video title which the difference is the other one is Cool and model-like beautiful woman. And the story is different approach where they will grew up to each other and she change herself to become a better woman in high school.
What a sweet fmc, i love the story. I have seen tons of story when the mmc apologized even if he did nothing wrong, but in this one, he did the right thing when he apologized. It's good that he decided to improve himself for her, but decided everything without confronting her, ending up hurting her
This story was really heartwarming. I’m so glad Aoi was able to reunite with her Prince Charming. The conversation between the two girls kids broke the icing because of how his class views him. He’s viewed as an introvert so him dating a girl like Aoi would make all the other guys very mad at him as Aoi is seen as way out of his league. But I like how he didn’t let it bother him and worked to improve himself and be a man worthy of standing next to her. All his hard work paid off and he got rewarded.
That whole "becoming a man worthy of her" trope is just selfish. He's just deciding on his own that he's not good enough for her without even thinking about how she feels. Distancing himself from her like this MC did only causes worry for her. And making her wait so that he can make himself "worthy" is just self-satisfaction. He doesn't even consider how that makes the other person feel. The girl in this story showed clear interest in him from the start and he decides he's not good enough for her? Just based on what the peanut gallery says? That's just stupid. Just because she's pretty doesn't mean that a quiet kid like him can't date her. There was no reason to think he was unworthy of her. He just caused her unnecessary pain because he believed some BS that those other classmates said.

Given his inferiority complex, at the beginning, he probably felt that he would feel embarrassed to be by her side if peer pressure came along. Working to improve himself and gain self confidence will help him to be able to put his foot down and hold his ground if he were to encounter these pressures in the future. The end bit shows the two not embarrassed when people call out their relationship. Kouichi now doesn’t feel embarrassed and should be able to stand by her side and not care what other people may think.
Nice to see a protagonist who faces his inner demons head on and improve himself. And while some might see him distancing himself from her as cowardly, that's what an inferiority complex does to you.

I can relate to this MC, when it comes to low self-confidence, cause I also have the same issue myself, having this problem can really kill you inside and out, it really sucks your confidence, self-esteem and much more from you a lot, its hard to overcome but its definitely possible.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Kouichi handled pretty much EVERYTHING wrong with Aoi there. He didn't need to be cold to her when she arrived, he didn't need to be jealous about her talking with other people, he didn't need to push her away, and he didn't need to "improve" himself. All he needed to do was reach out his hand to her; she had already accepted him. Hell, it's clear that she had been waiting for a decade to reconnect. Get the hell over your damn self and take what is offered, people. Also, this episode reminds me of an underclass couple that had the most heart-melting reunion when I was a junior in high school. They were in 9th grade when they reunited on the first day of school without either knowing that they would be attending the same school. My wife-then-girlfriend and I watched the whole thing play out as they saw each other and literally yelled each other's names out, drawing the attention of everyone in the hallway, before collapsing in tears in each other's arms, dropping all their books in the process. It was like something out of a Hollywood movie! I didn't know the story at the time, but my wife told me that they had been together since 1st grade (the school was a K-12 private school) and had separated in 6th grade when the boy moved away; the girl left the next year. Neither knew that the other had returned to town at the same time, because this was in 1993, before the era of cell phones and the internet and email; but they were re-enrolled in their old school. They started dating immediately and, according to the school newsletter, married right after graduation and went to college together. I don't know anything more than that, but I hope they are still out there, living their best lives together.

So called introverts in this manga are often weird. I was weird anytime a female talked to me I thought she must of been interested. Why else would they talk to me. Most of the introverts are baffled a female can possible like them. Still was draining to always try to confess. Usually got rejected though.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Kouichi handled pretty much EVERYTHING wrong with Aoi there. He didn't need to be cold to her when she arrived, he didn't need to be jealous about her talking with other people, he didn't need to push her away, and he didn't need to "improve" himself. All he needed to do was reach out his hand to her; she had already accepted him. Hell, it's clear that she had been waiting for a decade to reconnect.
Get the hell over your damn self and take what is offered, people.
Also, this episode reminds me of an underclass couple that had the most heart-melting reunion when I was a junior in high school. They were in 9th grade when they reunited on the first day of school without either knowing that they would be attending the same school. My wife-then-girlfriend and I watched the whole thing play out as they saw each other and literally yelled each other's names out, drawing the attention of everyone in the hallway, before collapsing in tears in each other's arms, dropping all their books in the process. It was like something out of a Hollywood movie!
I didn't know the story at the time, but my wife told me that they had been together since 1st grade (the school was a K-12 private school) and had separated in 6th grade when the boy moved away; the girl left the next year. Neither knew that the other had returned to town at the same time, because this was in 1993, before the era of cell phones and the internet and email; but they were re-enrolled in their old school.
They started dating immediately and, according to the school newsletter, married right after graduation and went to college together. I don't know anything more than that, but I hope they are still out there, living their best lives together.
