In Part 1 of this PLC Training video series, we configured our PLC hardware in TIA Portal V15.1.
👉 upmation.com/plc-hardware-con...
In Part 2, we wrote a PLC program in Ladder Logic (LAD) for a simple "water pumping system".
👉 upmation.com/ladder-logic-plc...
In Part 3 (this video), we are going to figure out how to simulate a PLC program using the Siemens PLC simulator (PLCSIM software).
👉 upmation.com/simulate-the-plc...
In Part 4, we will continue our PLC programming journey with another simple, yet practical PLC program.
👉 upmation.com/plc-program/
We'll learn how to work with the Siemens PLCSIM V15 and how to download our PLC program to a virtual Siemens S7-1500 series PLC and simulate our software to investigate and test all of the possible conditions in this industrial process.
We'll also learn about how an SR and RS Flip Flop work in the PLC software.
In this Siemens PLC programming tutorial series, we will write some Ladder Logic PLC programs in the Siemens TIA Portal for some simple but real-world processes.
We start from the simplest PLC Programming examples and will grow to the advanced levels. You will definitely learn some useful tips and tricks in every single example that you can use in your automation projects.
You don't need any actual hardware to participate in this course. So having a laptop with a TIA Portal installed on that would be enough! In most of the examples, you can use Step 7 and WinCC as well.

I am doing my final year project this year and I've decided to automate the steam pressure and temperature control system. I'll be glad if I can get a video on that. I'll be using TIA for my simulation
As usual this is another excellent video, many thanks
Thank you for your comments! Enjoy!
100% satisfied video, great going sir. Waiting for more videos in field instrumentation
Thank you and happy learning!
Very useful video series. Keep it up
Thank you very much! Yes, we'll continue this series.
Great job sir
Great tutorial! What application did you use for the animated process?
I liked the video, thanks.
Thanks for watching, Andrey! Glad you liked it.
Thanks 👍
Nice and thank you
You're Welcome! :)
Many thanks for wonderful information
hope next video is about switchgear..thank you
Welldone Sir, over the years I have being watching your simplified, informative e-learning video and have benefited greatly, it has help gaining a good understanding on control devices and others, as well as enhance my knowledge to a high degree. Thanks alot. But can you help out with a PLC software for personal training?
Thank you and you're welcome! You can search for the Siemens TIA Portal student version.
Sir which software is used for animation please tell us 🤔
Very useful this video, greetings from Mexico. I'm starting to learning PLC Siemens program
Awesome! So please stay tuned for more videos like this.
Sound quality superrrr.....

Thanks bro
Welcome Juan :)
Pressure and temperature control of stem while monitoring the amount of water in the boiler
great video
Thank you! Happy learning!
Hello sir I am student in automation engineering. so you can explain this topic and releted videos and plc program logic trick. To improve our knowledge.
Control cable connection video uploaded panuka sir
Thanks for this wonderful video.... Please i need a software for this kind of video simulation; that shows the graphical explanation of the process... Thanks in anticipation
You're very welcome! I'm afraid I don't know which software has been used by the Graphics team.
dear sir! I want to ask you a question! Can I simulate water pumping using solar energy in this software? If it possible, Hope you instruct me Simulate. Thanks so much!
I think it is possible.
Nice course , do you offer Siemens PLC training ?
Thank you! Unfortunately, not yet. But we are developing the course.
Hell, I download the TIA_Portal_STEP7_Prof_WINCC_Prof_v17 trail version but when i compiling, I get message no compatible simulation application is installed. I should install SIMATIC-PLCSIM V 17 but I can't find it on the Siemens site portal. Is it because it is a trial version. Thanks
Ben
Great video, but there's something I don't understand. HLS is NO and LLS normally closed right? Yet they behave in the same way, when they detect water, they both send a 24v (green line), is that correct or I'm missing something? Thanks.
Hey! No both of them had been considered as NO switches. In the previous episode, you can find that out ▶
Part 2: How to Write PLC Ladder Program? upmation.com/ladder-logic-plc-programming/
Please note that what you see in the software is not representing the type of physical switch you have in the process. To understand what I exactly mean watch this video or read its article over at ▶ upmation.com/no-and-nc/
@@Upmation Thank you! That's really helpful
@@ElhuSCIENCE You're very welcome! Happy we could help!
Do you know if colleges have the simulation software? Does it come in a package with the programming software
TIA Portal has integrated all the basic software including programming and monitoring STEP 7, WinCC, and so on. Simulation software (PLCSIM) is free and you can download it free in case it was not included in the package.
As far as I know, the colleges have at least a Trainer Package which includes all of these (and SIMIT simulation software) plus some hardware packages for students to gain hands-on experience.
Here is the link to the Siemens Trainer package: sie.ag/3iIAw8d
But you better ask the college to make sure which PLC and software brand they use. In the US you might better choose between Siemens and Allen Bradley.
@@Upmation my college has AB and Siemens. However as I right now, we have to remote into the software. Idk if the SIM software is downloaded or not. If it’s not I don’t know if I have the authority to download anything onto the remote computers. I really would like to be able to simulate the programs we build.
@@joew4202 I see. I suggest you contact the IT responsible of your college and ask him to download and install the PLCSIM on the computers you remotely connect to them. It's not something that might cause malfunction or whatever you might be worried about...
Hello ! Operation with PLCSIM can be simulated after replacing hardware inputs such as% Ix.y by a memento bit %Mx.y ? Personally I can't do it.
I simulated an incrementation (INC) in LADDER language by placing a pushbutton with positive edge to which I assigned the address % I0.0, it works well, as soon as I replace by % M0.0 impossible to change the bit value. Thank you
Hi!, i am one of your subscriber.. may i request a sample program of Temperature controller using TIA portal V15
Hi there! Yes, I'll let the team know of your suggestion. Thank you!
Hello sir, I am getting a problem where when I click on start simulation, a box appeared and says 'The blocks contained in this project cannot be simulated with S7-PLCSIM. I didn't put any password for the blocks. How can I fixed this ?
Hi there! You should look for the details of the error and see which block it means. It's likely you used a block that needs inputs and you've leaved its inputs empty. Or have used an inconvenient input or range for that block. You should also look to see if there is any errors or warnings after you compile your software.
Is there a video where it shows how the HMI screen is created and objects are linked to tags, etc.?
I'm afraid, Amir! We don't have such videos here. But will consider your suggestion.
@@Upmation Thank you for the update.
what the name of this sensor are this video?
Hey! You can assume the level switches are all Floating types.
what is the software do you simulation ?
Hey! This is the PLCSIM software that we used in this video (The graphics are not included!)
Sir would you mind sharing the name of the application you used to create the water pump diagram for simulation, thank you
Hey! Unfortunately, I don't know which software the graphics team has used for this part of the video.
Please when are you going to populate your RUclips channel with hundreds of videos?
Do we need hardware to do this
No, you don't need any kind of hardware to simulate this process.
Wire connection sir
Sorry I just notice I typed Hell, damn, I meant to say hello
IF YOU HAVE TO SIMULATE PLC WHY YOU NEED HARDWARE?
Sorry, I didn't get your point! To simulate a PLC program you don't need any hardware and I don't think that we have mentioned such a thing in this video!
THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.I MEAN HOE I SHOULD SIMULATE PLC ON PC.
@@NishadNaik Thank you for your comment. Most of the PLC Programming software are associated with a "Simulation" software that you can use them together to simulate the PLC and the process. In this video, we used Siemens TIA Portal as the PLC Programming software and Siemens PLCSIM as the Simulation software. There is also a Monitoring or SCADA software called Siemens WINCC to bring the graphics into your project and link them to your PLC program.
I have questions What here Q Smyboll
Hey! "Q" is a symbol for the outputs.
I expected next video
@@otabektillavayev3309 We'll do our best to continue this series. Thank you for following up.
