Yay I'm back! It felt a bit rusty, filming a video after such a long break. But I had a super fun project to design and make today. A while ago Arteza asked me to try out their markers, cutting mat and rulers. Combining those products together could only mean designing a new quilt.

Irene, you ARE an artist. Your medium, though, is fabric (and yarn), not markers, pencils, or paint. You design quilts, you don’t just follow someone else’s pattern. This makes you an artist!

Cute pattern and your fabric choices are perfect! I use Arteza rulers and like them well enough. They are less expensive than some other name brand ones. I have broken off a corner when I dropped it on the floor though. Oops! I recently bought their fabric markers which also come with two tip sizes. I trace giant coloring book pages on light colored fabric and then color them in to make my own original quilt panels.

I love this quilt! I might have enough for it from my extra Kona solids, I have wanted a pencil one for ages. I'm ready for the QAL, and looking forward to it. 4,500 quilters is an amazing amount! Also, I make cards and would love Arteza pens, my grandson has a set...The one getting the quilt. My next task is to try FPP with your tutorial.....thanks Irene, see you next week xx

I love the pencil quilt! So nice to see your face again!!! Very excited for the QAL. It is starting on Thanksgiving Day in the USA which is a holiday so I am not sure how much will actually get started - I have to work but hey, we have 4 weeks, right?

I found the pattern but it is not correct. It says it should measure 9.5 including seam allowance but it only measures 8.75😞

Hello Irene, Thank you for all your helpful videos. I'm beginning my quilting adventure, may I ask you a few questions? What is the number/name of the thread you are using? It is Aurifil, yes? I'm curious about the thread path to the needle, since the thread is on the table behind your machine. Where is it running? Tension happy? Thank you :-)

Are those markers permanent on fabric? I'm wondering for coloring in some designs adding shading and such with embroidery and also label making for back of quilt. I looked for pattern but not in English. Glad you are back!
I'm not sure, I haven't tried them on fabric. But Arteza does also sell markers for fabric I believe
Since you have to put a border on, add erasers to the pencils.

But coloured pencils don’t have erasers!
what sizes pencils would you need for a throw size quilt?
I could not print out directions. Is there anyway we can. I am only learning and I need the directions. Thank you They say to use the same ruler throughout the quilt

Just wondering... you said you'll add a border, but wouldn't that cut off the pencil tips?
I hope not :) If I sewn it accurate enough there is a 1/4" seam above the tips to they won't be cut off
...
Check out art hub for kids on RUclips. He dies kids arts tutorials. I do them with my eldest and we use these markers. So fun!
