I am contemplating doing long haul or bus driving. I wouldnt say i have a fear of heights but driving my regular car near a sheer cliff does freak me out and i cant imagine doing it in a semi with winds. Not to mention driving back east or dealing with those road conditions. But the idea of long drives early mornings and sleeping in the truck sound so appealing! But i think i will start with a school buss to get the hang of driving a large vehicle then move from there.
I have to say thank you to all school bus drivers, your job is really important. We think a safe ride to school is taken for granted, but it isn't, these drivers do the job. Thank you guys.

Fellow school bus driver!!! I'm glad to see another driver so enthusiastic about their job. I have been driving for over 5 years and have absolutely loved it! I'll probably retire a bus driver. I have driven for a special needs school with a wheelchair bus, a bilingual Ukranian school and a special needs route at a public school in a small bus and all of the kids have been amazing, even though there were hiccups every now and then. I also save money on daycare because my kid can come with me to work! A lot of the time, your demeanor, your attitude and your interaction with the kids can influence how the kids treat you. There will always be misbehaving kids, but if you treat them with respect, most of them will treat you with respect back, at least in my experience. You, sir, definitely seem like a guy the kids would enjoy interacting with but can be firm if rules are being broken. I'm glad you enjoy being a driver.
8:48 That puts your bus in high idle cleaning out your Dissel Particulate Filter or DPF. Every 300 miles, depending on the vehicle you might want to do a park regen. However, if you ignore the DPF message overtime the performance of the bus will degrade to prevent damage to the engine.

Please excuse my ignorance but what is a "bus license"? My cousin in texas says you need what i mentioned plus C.P.R. training and classes every 6 weeks. Thanks in advance for any explanation.
I'm working now on getting my CDL to drive a Pinellas County, Fl school bus. I had NO IDEA how much is involved to be prepared and qualified to drive a school bus. I heard we have over 100 openings here. With testing, background checks, DOT physical, training and so on you are looking at about 5 weeks before you are able to drive on your own. Who knew!
I love the Christmas stuff on the bus, and just in general I want to say, not only school bus drivers but all kind of public transport drivers (tram, train, bus, etc.) Have my full respect.
parked regen is for the emissions system for your bus, if you click that button it will force the bus to clear the "diesel particulate filter" while parked, usually it happens while you are driving down the highway. probably a button for the mechanic to press but now you have a better idea of what it is
The "parked regen" switch is for regeneration of the Diesel Particulate Filter. Basically, it will high idle the engine and may inject extra shots of fuel on the exhaust stroke to get the catalyst up to a temperature that will clean out the soot in the DPF. Can take about 20-60 minutes, but is very important to do at certain intervals
Yea, was gonna explain this but figured SOMEBODY else would have. Suprised that it wasnt explained to drivers, you know, so its not on every time they are parked.
The park regen is for emission purposes, usually this consists of a higher idle which creates higher exhaust gas temp, this helps prevent the DPF filters from being plugged up from the diesel particulate, usually if you drive long enough everytime you start up the bus it should burn off the particulate on its on
You sir are 1 in a million. You do a circle check, you take pride in your job and sounds like a good head on your shoulders. Where I'm from drivers DO NOT do prechecks and are some of the dumbest people I've ever met. no all of them are but the majority for sure.
Thanks for these videos boss man. It is a big responsibility to drive kids around and i can tell you take it very seriously from sll these vids you post
True story: in grade school I was riding the bus home when it accidentally ran over a kid with the back tire. It didn't kill him either which was amazing. It broke his leg, but he eventually walked again. Kid kind of deserved it. He only got hit because he was chasing after the bus to get to the next stop so he could bully another kid. He slipped on the curb and went under. Bus driver was old but really nice. He looked horrified when we all shouted that he'd just hit a kid.
The park regen button is used to clean the diesel engines DPF (diesel particulate filter) by heating up the exhaust and burning away the stuff that builds up on it over time
My bus driver in hs was just a guy driving his bus with some music on that’s it and he was pretty chill because no one gave him any shit we were all exhausted that’s why I talked to him he was in the mafia but changed his life around
Such a good insight! I alwaus thought bis drivers had it so easy. Just wake up, get the bus, take kids to school, and then your off the rest of the day until it's time for them to be picked up and dropped off. There is so much more work involved!
Me * wonders what my school bus driver does when he’s not bringing us to school or home * me * finds his channel * me: ok Btw he’s not my bus driver I was well yk what I mean
Trucker here. Parked regen is when the dpf filter gets clogged the bus will idle very high to burn the soot in the dpf filter. If you do lots of driving it should do itself but if not the bus will inform you that it needs a regen and you’ll have to stop the bus for every bit of 45 min and let the truck regen if not it’ll derate on you and you’ll have to take it to a shop so someone can manually override the system and force it to regen.
I just took my driving test yesterday to be a school bus driver was pretty simple going to pick up kindergarten kids we had to do a checklist every morning and every afternoon
Lol yeah, my school only ever taught us the rear door LOL. I was so curious that I printed out a (NOP) Normal Operating Procedures manual on a Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 model.
My school taught us every year in elementary, and they review it before a field trip even in high school.. and probably still talk about it on the first day of school when kids get on the bus- but I don't ride the bus.🤷♂️
8:42 The parked regen switch is for if your DPF light is on, steady or flashing. If the DPF light is solid on, you can either drive the bus at normal speeds and it will do an automatic regen as you are driving (no driver intervention required) or you can initiate a parked regen. If the light is flashing, you must do a parked regen. Yes it does take a while to do, but it definitely saves drivers from having to pull over and shut the bus off because eventually, the red stop engine light will come on if the DPF is full and no regen is done. To do a parked regen, the DPF light must be on or flashing, you must have the parking brake set, and the transmission must be in either neutral or park. Hope this helps! As far as the inhibit regen switch, that prevents the DPF from doing its job (stops all automatic regens) and should never be left on when driving. Only use this switch when parking in areas where there is a risk of fire.
Darn I forgot School buses even had those red lever things on the windows to pull in case an emergency in my school people used to just pull them for fun and there would be no penalty

3:00 "No dents, no things" ~sees a dent in the back of the bus~
And the right fender and grill have been replaced, they're a brighter yellow.
I’ve always been fascinated with bus driving and I still am thank you for your service as a bus driver❤
I came across you, with that tiktok meme “this is my friend Justin, ughhh 😫🍌” so I can’t take this video serious lmao 😂
Who else lifted the emergency window lever while the bus was moving and heard the beep
I love the Christmas stuff on the bus, and just in general I want to say, not only school bus drivers but all kind of public transport drivers (tram, train, bus, etc.) Have my full respect.
My bus driver has at least one of the emergency exits on the roof open. It’s very helpful!
I dont know him but I love this man with my heart. And may be a rider on his bus
i dont normally ride the bus, but if this dude was supposed to be my bus driver, he’d see me every day.
This is so much better than those short tik tok videos with the shitty video format. Great job man, looking forward to more in depth content like this
parked regen is for the emissions system for your bus, if you click that button it will force the bus to clear the "diesel particulate filter" while parked, usually it happens while you are driving down the highway. probably a button for the mechanic to press but now you have a better idea of what it is
I think he wishes that he had a bus that has a radio, so he can chill.
they all have radios.... 2 way radios 😂
Lol
Ya he has one
Peep the pioneer radio
The "parked regen" switch is for regeneration of the Diesel Particulate Filter. Basically, it will high idle the engine and may inject extra shots of fuel on the exhaust stroke to get the catalyst up to a temperature that will clean out the soot in the DPF. Can take about 20-60 minutes, but is very important to do at certain intervals
Yea, was gonna explain this but figured SOMEBODY else would have. Suprised that it wasnt explained to drivers, you know, so its not on every time they are parked.
So it’s used to warm up the engine faster? Gotcha
The park regen is for emission purposes, usually this consists of a higher idle which creates higher exhaust gas temp, this helps prevent the DPF filters from being plugged up from the diesel particulate, usually if you drive long enough everytime you start up the bus it should burn off the particulate on its on
I have wayyyy more respect for bus drivers now thank you
This makes me have lots of respect for bus drivers.
Never had to ride it, just walked
Mad respect thou
You sir are 1 in a million. You do a circle check, you take pride in your job and sounds like a good head on your shoulders. Where I'm from drivers DO NOT do prechecks and are some of the dumbest people I've ever met. no all of them are but the majority for sure.
Thanks for these videos boss man. It is a big responsibility to drive kids around and i can tell you take it very seriously from sll these vids you post
11:51 I used to always look at that to see where my bus driver was turning😄
Bro uses the radio to see where he going
True story: in grade school I was riding the bus home when it accidentally ran over a kid with the back tire.
It didn't kill him either which was amazing. It broke his leg, but he eventually walked again.
Kid kind of deserved it. He only got hit because he was chasing after the bus to get to the next stop so he could bully another kid. He slipped on the curb and went under.
Bus driver was old but really nice. He looked horrified when we all shouted that he'd just hit a kid.
One time on my bus a kid almost fell under the tire because he wanted a stuffed animal
Have you’ve ever had a time where you weren’t able to operate the bus because it didn’t follow the whole checklist?
Happens quite often.
The park regen button is used to clean the diesel engines DPF (diesel particulate filter) by heating up the exhaust and burning away the stuff that builds up on it over time
Principle "ClawBoss, this is the second time I caught you filming again! you're fired." lol
My bus driver in hs was just a guy driving his bus with some music on that’s it and he was pretty chill because no one gave him any shit we were all exhausted that’s why I talked to him he was in the mafia but changed his life around
me as a kid on a bus: DO A BURNOUT!!!
A school bus has an automatic transmission. All that will happen is the engine will spin faster than usual, while the bus slowly accelerates.
Such a good insight! I alwaus thought bis drivers had it so easy. Just wake up, get the bus, take kids to school, and then your off the rest of the day until it's time for them to be picked up and dropped off. There is so much more work involved!
This was interesting I didn’t k ow all that went into it. More people need to see this
you haven’t seen anything until you see what happens with a bus load of 50-60 kids, and 40 are unruly 😂
A friend of mines sister is a school bus driver in Vegas.
Me * wonders what my school bus driver does when he’s not bringing us to school or home * me * finds his channel * me: ok
Btw he’s not my bus driver I was well yk what I mean
Trucker here. Parked regen is when the dpf filter gets clogged the bus will idle very high to burn the soot in the dpf filter. If you do lots of driving it should do itself but if not the bus will inform you that it needs a regen and you’ll have to stop the bus for every bit of 45 min and let the truck regen if not it’ll derate on you and you’ll have to take it to a shop so someone can manually override the system and force it to regen.
I just took my driving test yesterday to be a school bus driver was pretty simple going to pick up kindergarten kids we had to do a checklist every morning and every afternoon
Yo can I have that ps5 my mom doesn’t let me play on the Samsung smart fridge anymore
Typical rich people stuff
Look at youre fucking profile picture you dork
Ok everybody stop with the hate he’s just joking if he was a rich brat he would already have the ps5
It’s 2021 and they don’t teach students the emergency exits?? They taught us when I was in elementary, middle and high school
Lol yeah, my school only ever taught us the rear door LOL. I was so curious that I printed out a (NOP) Normal Operating Procedures manual on a Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 model.
I took the bus driver certification 20 hour course
I love school buses
My school taught us every year in elementary, and they review it before a field trip even in high school.. and probably still talk about it on the first day of school when kids get on the bus- but I don't ride the bus.🤷♂️
same here
8:42 The parked regen switch is for if your DPF light is on, steady or flashing.
Clawboss: haves fun editing his video
Me:realizes he forgot to blur his license plate.
Its fine because its not a random persons plate
You do understand it's a bus right not a lot you can do with the license to a school bus

Tonight, I’ll be eating a cheese pizza with garlic bread 🥖 - Uber Eats ads.
Darn I forgot School buses even had those red lever things on the windows to pull in case an emergency in my school people used to just pull them for fun and there would be no penalty
god bless you man, I wish I had a driver like you growing up.
