    Excellent tutorial! I was uncertain how to block a WIP with the yarn still attached. I was worried the water would somehow travel up the yarn to the ball and affect it, so thank you for showing it’s possible! Your Poppy Tee is gorgeous!

    Great tutorial! Learned several things … I have blocked a sweater midway through a project and have used eucalan when doing so but, in future, will forego this step when soaking. Usually wait until after final blocking to weave in ends. Before finishing top down body, I finish the neckline as I don’t want the body length to be impacted by adding the neck stitches and like the stability of picking up stitches for a neckline. Like your suggestion of also finishing the sleeves before completing the body. When soaking a WIP, I use my 50” Chiaogoo interchangeable needles, remove the tips, add stoppers to the end of the cords and soak the cords right in the water; it’s fast, easy and my interchangeable cords haven’t been harmed. Thanks for all of your helpful information!

      Thans so much Karen. I did all my blocking mid-project on long needles for years and will probably still do that occasionally, but i always got a bit of distortion at the bottom of the fabric from the cable and I like that the cords dont have that and the project lays flatter at the bottom. It definitely doesnt hurt the cables though which is great and a quick and easy way to block without having to go to the trouble of putting the work on cords. Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

      @@mostlyknitting interesting about distortion on garment when blocking using interchangeable cables. I have only done this a couple of times so do thank you for this info and I’ll be purchasing some of the cords mentioned to avoid this issue!

    I’ve found that always pushing the cord through the stitches vs thinking about pulling the stitches over the cord helps. Always love your videos Tash!

    Thank you for this great demonstration. I am just at a point on my latest top down sweater that I want to try it on. I will definitely be using my new set of cords to try it on. I Love that you showed 3 different operations in one video. ❤

      Luv your channel! As a Sydneysider just starting adult sweaters but practiced a lot on toddlers top down! Where can I source good quality reasonable priced yarn. I am realising that better yarns are easier to knit and give the result now I practiced for. Over Spotlight! No stock and not the best quality. Thankyou for any suggestions! 🥂

    I'm trying to figure out whether the extension cords come in different widths. I use them all the time. But this time I have a project on US 10 needles (6mm) needles. And not just 'regular' tapered needles, but the Prym Ergonomics that have the little 'bulb' at the tip. I cannot get my extension cords to fit over the large tip for this project. But overall I love using the cords. Thanks for a great little tutorial!

      I imagine they might come in different sizes. I havent seen them sold in a yarn shop like that but maybe on Amazon they might. That would be handy for those larger gauge projects. :)

    Great tutorial. I am currently knitting the Salty Days Sweater by Kutovakika and am at the point of knitting the hem on the body. I just used my extension cords and will wet block to see how the rows change ( same as what you did). Do you suggest that I knit one sleeve up to the cuff, put it on extension cords and then block all at once?

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting  2 месяца назад

      I think that is a good idea. It gives you an idea of how the length will be as the sleeves can pull it up quite a bit at the sides.

    It took me a minute to get used to using mine, for the same reason as you. I was very afraid of the tube coming off the needle and losing stitches, but now that I’ve got the hang of it, I can’t imagine how I managed without them!

      They are much quicker to use than i expected. I think after having a bad first experience with lesser quality cords, it put me off using them. I didnt ask Twice Sheared Sheep to send me any as i didnt think i liked using them but when i got them out of the packaging, they seemed different to the other ones i tried so i figured i would give it a go. I will definitely keep using them all the time now. :)
