It actually mounts so easily and is very small and discreet. If you have a rear view mirror, it will hide nicely behind it. If you do not have a rear view mirror, anywhere up high on the windshield is a good place. It mounts with a small magnetic circle.
1:55 the battery isn’t for losing power, it is for the Parking Guard feature (without the constant power options) to record 15 seconds after impact. RTFM.
Correct me if i am wrong but per the manual it only saves if you push save and it only saves 15 seconds that comes straight from the user guide Garmin 47 is what i was looking at
Hi Mike, it has an automatic event detection setting that will begin recording 15 seconds before and 15 seconds after an event has been observed. The video will then be stamped with time and date of the event incase of the need for a play back.
So this camera does not have motion detection after you park your car to record robbers etc.., is there an affordable camera that has that that will work on a battery
So to clarify, the parking guard feature needs constant power, ie: 12 volt and say for example you’re in a store, and your camera detects motion, shock etc it’ll kick on out of standby and start recording AND send a notification to your phone in real time? What’s the range on receiving a notification to your phone, there’s certainly a range isn’t there, or is that cloud based, so range is irrelevant?

I just bought one but every time I turn on the car and therefore the dashcam, the request to select "Local settings" appears on the display otherwise it won't start and won't record anything. I find it absurd and I would like to know if I'm the only one who has this problem. Thank you.
Hi Albert! This sounds like an issue with the initial setup. What I recommend you do is, perform a factory reset and then re-setup your dashcam. This time try and get your dashcam close to a wind of some kind. Because it runs off GPS it will need a clear view of the sky to finish setup. If this doesnt work, feel free to reach out to us at info@technorv.com and we will be happy to look into this issue for you. Hopefully that fixes your problem.
Hi Mike, this shouldn't be an issue but when trying it out you can always adjust the settings sensitivity that way it doesn't activate every time you shift hard.
If someone is driving with this cam, and camera is connected with hotspot of driver's cellphone and another person sitting at home with garmin app can watch live view of dash cam. Is my understanding right?

Has anyone faced issues with DC47 keep asking the same Locale and Language at every power up? It's very annoying. I've updated firmware and it still does that.
By default, the device immediately starts recording video when it turns on, and it continues recording until it is turned off. If the memory card is full, the device automatically deletes the oldest unsaved video to create space for new video. When the option to promptly delete unsaved video is enabled, the device continually deletes unsaved video more than three minutes old and deletes all unsaved video each time it is powered off. This feature is available only for specific regions. When the camera is set to a supported region, you can enable or disable this feature in the camera settings
That is about 110 minutes in total. You can set your sensitivity to record more or less depending on your needs. You can always add your own card up to 512 GB.
Review is alright but you didn't go into the buttons. How to start it, turn it off, get started with it installation wise. Hope the instruction book is not written by orientals that do not have command of the English language.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, this dashcam is a pain in the butt to program to IPhones. When you’re trying g to Bluetooth to it, the cameras says, “this may take a moment.” If 30 minutes is a moment then yeah. Needing to connect to it’s WiFi, my 47 connected TWICE and then wouldn’t connect because the password IT came was registering in my phone. It’s just terrible, “non-traditional,” WiFi BS. I had a 45, and it was a really nice camera but the 47 and this cloud crap is a pain in the butt.

DO NOT BUY - this does not record all video as you are driving, you literally have to PUSH A BUTTON ON THE CAMERA AS YOU ARE DRIVING or voice activated tell it to record. What a joke! It is too late to return it to best buy, I am not happy!
According to Length of Video Files on a Dash Cam Enabled DeviceVideo footage will appear continuous when viewed in the gallery of your Dash Cam, in the Garmin Drive app, or in the Vault1. However, when viewing the raw files inside the memory card of the device, unsaved video files will appear as 1 minute long fragments and saved video files will appear as 30 second fragments. When video footage is viewed on the computer, depending on the third-party software being used, the files may also appear in increments. Some third-party software may allow for the editing of these incremental files. When an event is detected or a video is saved, the device will save the previous 15 second video clip and the next 15 second video recording clip. Each of these clips will be approximately 30 seconds in length around the time of the incident or saved video.
Yeah it took me freaking 3 years to realize it doesn’t record NON STOP you legit have to press the button or yell at it to record worst part it only clips 15 seconds like WTH
@@aztekcayt7945 but it does record non stop. there are settings to quick delete, or to allow it to fill the SD card then start deleting. pressing the button is simply a way for it to flag THAT SEGMENT to not be deleted. RTFM.

Koliko je vrijeme trajanja videa ima li više opcija naprimjer 2,3, ili 5 minuta trajanja snimki vožnje?

I wonder if it records GPS and speed data. Kind of a big thing to leave out of a dash cam review.
Terry, watch it again its at 4:14 in the video.
Hi, good day! Does it record whole video you drive on the whole day? Like if you drive 1 or 2hrs? Thanks

Is the magnet the only way to mount the camera? Very inconvenient if you are traveling in a rental car.
Hi Ron! Garmin does make suction mounts for the dash cameras. These dont come standard but they are available online.
