    CARLOS "PAMPER" MENDOZA is treating this team like a Kid's Day Care Center. He has taken out starters in a premature manner and the METS wind up losing the games. A few games earlier MENDOZA did not play VIENTOS because he needed the rest. What the fuck? Do yuo think a young player like MENDOZA who's trying to be a regular MLB player wants to rest?? The way MENDOZA has been managing, the METS won't make the post season.

    Sal Licata is the most idiotic person in NYC sports. And this hurts me as a NY Mets fan. He stated yesterday that because the Mets organization determined that individual Christian Scott should personally be limited to 75 pitches yesterday to prevent future injuries, that this was wrong, because pitchers in general succumb to injuries all the time. WHAT? What idiocy is this? Please fire Sal Licata. His stupidity is off the charts.

    Sal, I have a major issue with a guy who can’t get one out. The original plan was for Houser to start at seven. He was horrible yesterday. This rotten bullpen is the reason why this team can’t give by 500 and you know that. But you can’t blow out the arms like you did in 2015 and 1996 and expect to have a deep pitching staff for years to come.

    I don't usually agree with Sal but on this point, he is right. NOBODY should care about pitch limit, Inflammatory muscle, preserving for later games, blah blah. You're a major league pitcher that is required to pitch 90+ pitches, if you can't do that go find another sport because baseball isn't for you. Enough with the cuddling & babying these grown men & do your DAMN job!

  • @MrMetFanSC
    @MrMetFanSC 16 дней назад +4

    The problem with this argument is that your choice would have been McGill pitching 5 and blowing up or watching Scott get screwed like this. They prioritized winning by having Scott out there but they aren’t going to burn his arm for one win in a 500 season

    • @PGO_Gaming
      @PGO_Gaming 16 дней назад +2

      Stop it. I don't want to hear this nonsense. There is NO PROOF that conserving pitches leads to pitchers not getting hurt. Win the game in front of you. They weren't going to burn his arm. If he gives up a base hit or a walk then you take him out and bring in Orze. You are an apologist and a key reason why Baseball teams and management can get away with garbage like this.

    • @Jhawk826
      @Jhawk826 16 дней назад +1

      75 is an arbitrary number. He can blow out his arm in the first inning. Stearns isn't prioritizing winning. He's holding out as long as he can to start tearing it down.

    Pitch count is bs

  • @horaciogandini4249
    @horaciogandini4249 16 дней назад

    Of course there is one truth to this... If you don't play, you can't get hurt. In every athletic event in the world, athletes are, faster, stronger and better prepared than all of those who came before them. In every sport, EXCEPT for baseball pitchers. You'd think that with all these conventional wisdom paradigms the sport has embraced: of pitch counts, inning limits, 5 man rotations, 13 pitchers on a 25 man roster, making the mere idea of a "complete game" an aberration, that no pitcher should get hurt unless they are hit with a batted ball or fall down the dugout steps, but no!.. They still go down at an alarming rate. Look at Senga, he had no structural damage to his shoulder, did not require an amputation of a limb, did not have reconstructive surgery, and he's been out for 5 months going into 6. If this is the best that sports science can come up with, it's probably time to re-evaluate the entire process of preparation, strategy and development of the entire concept of pitching. Because this is undeniably a load of BS.

    If you are not in complete agreement with Sal Licata in this particular circumstance, you are part of the problem of what has happened to baseball in the past 20 years. If Scott can't make 80+ pitches on regular rest, he shouldn't be here. The team hamstrung Scott and the pitching staff with this move and lost the game. Mendoza stinks as a manager and this is not the first time he has made this kind of move before the inning is over. Are you trying to win or not?

    Sal is seriously one of the dumbest people in talk radio. He seems to believe that every baseball game should be managed like it's the 7th game of the world series, because according to him, sports are all about winning. He ignores the fact that baseball is a 162-game grind, and no one manages to win every game like it's life or death. Yes, sports ARE about winning, ultimately, but you can lose seventy games a year and still make the play-offs and win a world series.
    If Sal knew anything about Christian Scott, he'd know that last year the Mets were concerned Scott might need TJ surgery. Fortunately, the inflammation healed, and Scott ended up pitching well in 2023. But the Mets are managing his innings and rightfully so. The only mistake the Mets made yesterday was bringing in the inexperienced Eric Orze to pitch against the dangerous lefty Bryan Reynolds, who he ended up walking, and then it got worse from there. Sal is plain ignorant.
