See John and another wonderful Aussie singer Anthony Warlow singing Granada. That was a concert called "The Main Event' with them and Olivia Newton John. Phenomenal. John and Olivia sing a beautiful duet called "Please Dont Ask Me". Or John and Tom Jones singing "Its a long way to the top".
I'm probably one of the few Americans who was a huge fan of this song from the moment it was released in 1986. It never even cracked the Billboard 100 upon its first release and then only made it to #82 on its second release in 1991. That lack of success has frustrated me to this day but I am so glad to see youtube reactors like yourself discovering it because it is a song that deserves to be heard by all.
That’s insane! What a rip off! This song is so much better than so many tunes that have hit higher on the charts. He is crazy talented and can’t wait to hear more from him! Thanks for watching!
I used to travel from Chicago to the UK more than I do now but I heard this song there many times and liked it enough to download it in the early 2000's. All of my American friends, even those really into music, have never heard of him. This performance is absolutely amazing and I like it better than the studio version. John Farnham is an amazing singer and has incredible stage presence. Apparently he is a very down to earth and engaging if you meet him in person (read one of the most popular comment from The Vocalyst reaction to this song for the scoop). I would kill to have been at this concert.
John Farnham singing Help with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is spectacular! Would love to see your reaction to that!! Once you become a fan of this great man, you also become an honorary Australian! 😊He is THE legend of Australia. Cant wait to see more reactions!
I love EVERY reaction to the Beatles HELP sung by John with the MSO again and in the same concert. When he sings it he is over 2 hours into his concert and his voice is still perfect. I have been to so many of his concerts and he has never missed a note. Mr Perfect. You will love him now you have discovered him. And he is also one of the best humans. He loves his fans and we love him!
Farnsy’s singing maybe next level, but he was also a master of the art of mic stand hurling. “I’ll just chuck this spinning five metres in the air and catch it one-handed mid-song like it’s no biggie.”
Years ago I was a St. John Ambulance Operations Branch volunteer in Victoria, Aus. These large venues have St. Johnnies there to attend to first aid/emergency needs of the large crowds. I had the privilege of working one of John Farnham’s live concerts. Before the concert we were having dinner in the basement cafe when John Farnham and some of his band members also came to get some food. They stopped by our table and chatted for a bit. Nicest people you could ever meet.
This is a MASSIVELY fun rabbit hole you’re about to go down! This is our unofficial national anthem. John has been around for over 50 years, has never had a singing lesson and has never sung a bad note. He can sing ANYTHING. Opera, jazz, rock, pop. Enjoy, because I will, and you’ll get soo many new subscribers because of him, so keep watching 😂
Please...more John. You aint heard nothing yet. John is amazing and in my opinion, the best singer, performer and human being on the planet. I love him. Its a long road to discovery my friend, but a very worthwhile one. Everytime John opens his mouth, it's epic! ❤
Great Reaction thank you. Welcome to the world of our Phenomenal Aussie Legend, John Farnham! Now you have 6 decades of his awesome music to catch up on...enjoy. xo
This song is an anti war anthem. "We're all someone's daughter, We're all someone's son. Yet we look at each other down the barrel of a gun." It doesn't get much more anti war than that.
The song was not originally about about anti war (it was about domestic violence), but its message is freely open to interpretation. When the song became popular in Germany, for example, the lyrics resonated with what was going on with the Berlin Wall at the time.
Actually, it was written when one of the writers slept in and missed attending an anti nuclear demonstration, which upset him, so he got together with a couple of other writers and came up with this song. When John made the film clip, they incorporated scenes of domestic violence because, as you said, it can be apply to many situations. ❤ @kib6793
A granny in Australia says...those were the days! I have been a "Farnsy" groupie since my 20's (now nearly 80) and he was a VERY young man on black and white tele. You MUST watch his version of "Help" which the Lennon said was the best version of his classic ever performed. John Farnham is an Aussie god, but very unwell these days, to our great regret. Love the man!
I've seen Jonny Farnham live in concert back in the late 80s and what a power house of a voice, one of a kind. Just hope he can still sing just as good now after his recent cancer surgery. He will and always will be our Aussie national treasure.
So awesome that you got to see him live! Hopefully he will bounce back and still be able to do what he loves! Thanks for sharing and have a great day! 😁
Everybody please stand. Australia’s unofficial National anthem. It was first released in 1986. Cold War in Russia and Berlin Wall still up. It was just about crappy world affairs.
He sure has an amazing voice. And stage presence - his interaction with the audience is genuinely warm. Not to mention his mic-stand flips are legend. What blows me away every time I hear him is the sheer power of his voice. If you've ever been to a symphony orchestra concert, you know how loud they are without amplification. That John holds his mic so far away and still makes every word clear without any feedback from high gain is just stunning.
I had been blessed to see him in concert a few years ago. Absolutely brilliant performer with an amazing voice. We are hoping that voice returns after his surgery and we wish him a speedy recovery ❤
Ive seen john (Farnsey )live so many times, he's absolutely amazing, this was probably one of his best concerts. There's only one other person who can come close to john as far as vocals, entertainment, crowd participation and that's Jimmy Barnes (Barnsey)
Every Farnsey song is my favourite. It's a long way to the top. Black Dog. Help. Gethsemane. See the Banners fall. Touch of paradise. As time goes by ....... Have to give up listing them, it would take ages. But yes, the live performances are always amazing. First hit, Sadie the cleaning lady , around 1967 when he was 18. Last public performance was a charity concert in February 2020. Then covid shut the world down. John is now cancer free following oral cancer surgery in August that same year. I can't think of any singer who has been so personally loved by his fans, and it's a two way relationship, he loves his fans and he loves performing. And a huge shout out to his long time amazing backing singers and his amazing band - all have their own musical pedigrees. May'24. UK. E❤.
🤩You've got 6 decades of experience to investigate. He is an ICON in the Australian Music Industry. This was the hit single from the Whispering Jack Album, (which held the No. 1 position for a total of 25 weeks), "You're the Voice" went to No. 1 and has become an unofficial National Anthem. Always keep an eye out for his "mic & stand" tricks. The song is about Nuclear Disarmament. John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. . He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a few links to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL 😂 if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back. He is the most down to earth person, humble, funny and extremely talented. John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. He replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" which broke the box office ("The Voice" is what he is affectionately known as here), he can sing anything and make it sound great, First the trailer...ruclips.net/video/LocCfc5PKrE/видео.html The next performance you should watch is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986. a John Lennon number "Help", but John F's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound)...ruclips.net/video/dv54giOSRKs/видео.html Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold". 1969 a very young 20yr old John "One" ruclips.net/video/e06hBcBp8T8/видео.html 1970 "Raindrops" ruclips.net/video/LfmqltNIjfw/видео.html 1979 a 30 yr old John doing "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" ruclips.net/video/Z7scTuXSYT4/видео.html 1980 "Please Don't Ask me" ruclips.net/video/EmTOuR23ExU/видео.html 1983 in LRB " Reminising" (nice jazzy vocal) ruclips.net/video/iYgh_Irk46M/видео.html 1991 "When Something is Wrong with Your Baby" with another Aussis ICON - Jimmy Barnes ruclips.net/video/ihsfx1LuoKc/видео.html 1994 "You'll Never Walk Alone" (while chewing gum LOL).. ruclips.net/video/dWTEesb7FrY/видео.html 1998 "Playing to Win" ruclips.net/video/PYhy6gmwHwI/видео.html 1998 John and good friend Olivia Newton-John duet "Please Don't Ask Me" ruclips.net/video/2uV_tZODfK8/видео.html 1998 A little opera comedy with Anthony Warlow doing "Granada" ruclips.net/video/K6uxFKmCXB8/видео.html 1999 At his 50th Birthday Concert with "Human Nature" doing a Jackson Five number ruclips.net/video/AK9uhGmvo6U/видео.html 2000, a bit of "swing" ruclips.net/video/AK9uhGmvo6U/видео.html , 2003 "When the War is Over" Last Time Tour ruclips.net/video/BekbvlLzMWc/видео.html So many to choose from, hope you like them. 💞
Every now and then lists come up - some are personal opinions, some voted by fans, some by peers in the industry - and other artists can go higher or lower in the top 10 or 20, but John Farnham has been at number 1 for decades.
@barnowl. just google best male voices in world. They've never heard of him. Is he on the Rollingstone list. Yeahnah. Show me a credible list that even includes him. Oh I put him no 1 but... I don't really count.in fact in all seriousness if anyone does have a credible world list with him on it. .I'd love to see it.
Sad but true. One of the greatest vocalists ever and doesn't even get a mention on most lists but I don't think that would bother John at all. Most people in the world have never heard of him but that's changing I think. This was a lovely reaction and I loved your setting and lighting ❤
Our true Aussie legend is our John Farnham . Prayers that after mouth cancer 2 years ago, half his jaw replaced and still healing 🙏 He might be able to return. I've enjoyed many of his live performances 😅
I always love watching anyone reacting to this song for the first time… It never fails to make this Aussie smile to watch the she amazement and joy others get from John’s insane talent!
The song is about people power! If we all stand together, we can achieve anything. We don't have to sit in silence, we don't have to live with fear. Stand together, together we are strong!! God bless John Farnham.
about the Song - London1985, there was an anti-nuclear rally in Hyde Park, Chris Thompson, one of the writers had intended to go but slept in, he was upset with himself, and somehow this lead him ( with the help of 3 others) to write the song , thankyou for reacting, Can't get much better than John, songs to check out (the list is long but 5 to start ) 'HELP' from the same concert, and then for something completely different, 'Granada / Elevate us' with Anthony Warlow (Main Event -concert) 'Angels' with Lisa Edwards (1994 - Rwanda Concert) When Something is Wrong with My Baby' with Jimmy Barnes, (Hey Hey it's Saturday) - and with John, ALWAYS do LIVE over studio,
Appreciate all the recommendations! This performance was absolutely phenomenal and that makes sense because of the cause behind it! Thanks for the info and have a great one! 😁
Yes, anything from John is amazing; ALWAYS LIVE. John interacts so much with his audience, band & back up singers. I gather you saw him throw the mic stand to the other side of the stage.... (he is usually throwing, twirling or just messing around with his mic stand) his hand/eye co-ordination is legendary; along with his Voice, humility and humanity! John is epic in any genre! Soo much to explore with our Aussie; we call him THE VOICE. He always makes sure everyone at his concerts has the time of their life. As he has often said "I love my job" - and it shows.
Wonderful review, thank you, much appreciated. John sang for about 50 yrs lol. So many fantastic songs from aged about 18 to over 70. He’s our Aussie darling who can sing, from opera to heavy Rock, nursery rhymes, and everything in between & songs he’s written himself. He’s still with us, recently recovered from cancer. He’s sung with Tom John, Tina Turner, Ray Charles and….um .. more. 😊 Yup we are proud of and love our John 💞
He’s not even at full strength here. This is during a huge tour, and you can hear it in his voice. Help is probably the best song that showcases his true talent. It was also about his band too. I saw him just a few years ago and several of them were still playing with him. They were a tight unit and put on an amazing show. IMO he’s the best singer of all time. And a really down to earth, good bloke. Extremely underrated.
Thank you for the great reaction!. You hit the nail on the head - John's voice is absolutely world class, and you will never hear a dud note, no matter how much you watch of him. His tone is unique and addictive to listen to. But beyond that, he is also a dynamic and charismatic performer! John has also remained the most down-to-earth, humble, and generous human being throughout his entire career of over 5 decades. As you watch more, notice how he respects and acknowledges the musicians around him, how he steps back to let them shine. Many of the people here (1989) were still performing with him at his last show just before Covid hit (2019). You only get that loyalty by being an amazing person to work for. Anyway, John is probably the most beloved public figure there is in Australia. We love him for all the reasons I just mentioned, but also because he makes it so clear all the time how much he loves us back. I'd suggest When Something is Wrong With My Baby next: ruclips.net/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/видео.html It will also introduce you to Jimmy Barnes, and shows John singing a different style from You're The Voice, but equally as impressive. Hope to see you do a lot more of John!
He’s got the perfect singing voice, John is a powerhouse vocalist. He’s not just the best singer but one of the best human beings on the planet. Check him out singing a ballad either “a touch of paradise” or “burn for you” the concert where he’s wearing the black shirt
Awesome first time reaction to Aussie Legend John Farnham He has been around and in the top of Aussie Charts for decades. Has had number one hits in every decade since 1967. You will be amazed at the depth of his catalogue. Can't wait To see you discover more from our much loved aussie larrikan. You will not be dissappointed. Just a few performamces to get you started. HELP live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra...is a must Playing to Win Please Don't Ask Me It's a Long way to the Top That's Freedom All Our Sons and Daughters ❤❤❤
Keep coming back to this - can never get enough of Farnsey. And have you noticed the distance between the mic and his mouth? Imagine if he held it much closer..... I'm UK, but I think I'm now an honorary Australian! UK.. E
John is an absolute legend, an Aussie icon. His concerts are epic. He’s sung and toured with many great international artists around the world, Céline Dion, Tom Jones, Olivia Newton-John, just a name a few. Do yourself a favour and check out ‘Help’ and ‘Long way to the top’ with the MSO, same concert.
A few others have suggested ‘Help’ so I’m sure it’s amazing! This performance was so EPIC and I can’t wait to hear more from him! Thanks for watching! 😁
John Farnham's warm up song Black dog, a Led Zeppelin song. It was recorded by one of the sound technicians. It is just an audio as he never performed it on stage. Well worth listening to, it shows he is versatile. Or "Something is wrong with my baby" duet with Jimmy Barnes. Jimmy is another legion by Australian standards. You should always listen to John Farnham live, as he takes it to the next level.
John’s voice is incredibly versatile and stretches over 3 octaves without needing to use his falsetto. Another Aussie legend, Jimmy Barnes (Happy Birthday Jimmy!) also has a 3 octave range. Both have sung together “When Something is Wrong With my Baby”, a classic ‘60s soul song. American reactions to this song have reached Australian television news and radio. Both artists have woo’ed Australians for six decades with chart topping hits. ❤ 🐨
So far I have been blown away by the talent coming out of Australia 🇦🇺 so I will definitely add him to the list! Appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to comment! Have a great one!
So, our John is a legend. I don't know if anyone has mentioned (too many posts to read through) but John had cancer in his jaw and had his jaw removed and replaced with leg bone and skin grafts. I know a person who had the same operation and it saved both my mates life and John's. He can't sing atm, but he is in recovery and as far as we know he is cancer free. If you really want to see John in a different setting, try to get a hold of him live in stage plays, like "Jesus Christ Super Star". He is a phenomenal performer in either his music concerts or in stage plays. His voice is so easily recognizable here in Australia and I really haven't heard of anyone who doesn't love his music. I personally have been going to his concerts since the late 1970's and if he ever gets on stage again, I will be there in the front row. Thanks for the great reaction to a "new" talent.
While this song is an anthem and John Farnham got his moniker, 'THE VOICE,' from it, there are many other songs that John sings that better display the incredible power, versatility, range, expression , gymnastic ability etc. etc. of his voice. John Farnham is a musical genius ! This song was written by musicians in England about nuclear disarmament. However, the message of the song can be applied to different issues. John often sings songs with a message for the greater good of the world. More please and Aussies and others will be here !
Other brilliant performances by John: Help, When the war is over, Something is wrong with my baby(with Jimmy Barnes), Pressure down, Burn for you. Every song on the Whispering Jack album. And download John Farnham’s greatest hits. You won’t be disappointed. John turns 75 in July 2024, and he doesn’t sing anymore after mouth cancer, but he is our number 1 voice from the 80’s and 90’s. His last singing performance was with Olivia Newton John in February 2020, for NSW Firefighters benefit after the 2019/20 bushfires that burnt a lot of NSW. He was 70 years old and could still sing great. An Aboriginal singer, Mitch Tambo, sang this song “You’re the voice” in his own language. It was brilliant. Brian May from Queen was on guitar. Check it out.
Wow! That sounds killer! Appreciate all the info and the detailed comment! Always love learning new things from all of you! Have a great day and thanks for swinging by the channel!
I get your point, Rick. But its better to be a huge fish in a small pond than to be unnoticed. If he was American or for that matter Swedish, if his parents had taken a left turn instead of coming to Oz. Well who knows , if he'd been on the world stage? When he did give America a go he wowed them. Not just with LRB, but when he did the film soundtracks, if you research the RAD soundtrack it still remembered by a generation of American youth. It's their loss. But as well we got to enjoy him to ourselves. So cheers Rick, he doesn't have to be on any list. He is number 1 on the list relating to our hearts.
Next is John singing live with Jimmy Barnes and when you've finished with John, move into some of the amazing stuff Jimmy Barnes has done! I particularly love Stone Cold with Joe Bonamassa
If you thought his mic stand pick up was smooth, look at 5:48. He throws the mic stands up in the air and catches it in beat with the music. A lot of people miss that part.
Farnsey just brilliant, this is an anthem that every Aussie knows every word of! He is in his 70s now and was still belting until a recent illness. He has sung this with Coldplay, Celine Dion and with Brian May on guitar!
One of my other favourite songs from him is called "Age of Reason". John Farnham had mouth cancer and had to get part of his jaw removed a couple of years ago.
He's had top ten records in every decade since the 60s, and was still belting out the music and pulling in the crowds in his 70s until the cancer put the kibosh on his performing.
This song is just as relevant today as it was 38 years ago when it was released. The unofficial Aussie anthem by our John. Phenomenal singer, great comedian, great actor and all round nice bloke! ❤ This whole concert has to be the epitome of live performance by any artist ever. Help from the same concert is also amazing but John has been in the industry since the ‘60s…first as Johnny Farnham, then with Little River Band then breaking out solo again in ‘86 with the Whispering Jack album which “You’re The Voice” is from. Big rabbit hole dude! 😂 John could have been a massive international superstar had he done what the record companies wanted him to do but he turned them down and chose to stay here in Australia with his family instead. He is now, due to reactors like you, getting the recognition he should have had back then. ❤
So great to see John being reacted to by people around the world. I have been going to John Farnham concerts since the 70s when I was very young, he's a blood LEGEND and being at one of his concerts, is always my favourite place to be. If you can find a documentary called 'Finding the Voice - the John Farnham story' you will find out about the song 'You're the Voice' and a bit about his life. Great reaction.
John is THE voice, an amazing entertainer absolutely hilarious in concert and on the stage and a hell of a nice bloke to boot. You really need to check out Help the beetles classic from the same concert, the final song of the night, his vocals will blow your mind! Touch of paradise also brilliant just listen to John live, always live!!
G’Day mate, don’t think my last comment went through! Also check out John’s version of Help by The Beatles from the same concert! John can sing any genre. Now in his 70’s, just had a major battle with mouth cancer. We have all been praying for him. All the best mate. Cheers Kev
We Aussies love John so much. His voice is amazing and his personality so gorgeously funny, humble and caring. He has done so much for charities. I recommend every song others have mentioned but also "Never walk alone" from Carols by Candlelight. Thanks for the great reaction. I'm glad you have enjoyed our John and continue to dive deep into the wonderful world of JF.❤
I loved your reaction, this makes me appreciate John’s Farnham’s voice, when I was young my Dad would record his concerts on VHS and replay them over and over and I would roll my eyes at my father in annoyance in overplaying John Farnham but listening to you and other RUclipsrs reactions makes me fall in love with John Farnham voice, I cannot stop watching reactions to his voice, it’s a full circle moment . Thank you.🙏
Another great Australian artist is Jimmy Barnes, originally lead singer for rock band Cold Chisel; his duet with John Farnham singing When Something is Wrong With My Baby, this is a cover of a 1966 Sam and Dave song from his Soul Deep concert and album. The guitarist featured is Johnny Diesel, brother-in-law of Jimmy Barnes; he is from Diesel and The Injectors, another great Australian rock band.
You have jumped into the world of John Farnham. This song was a huge hit for John; he’s nearly 74 now and still much loved. He can sing in a wide range of genres. You should listen to Help (a Beatles cover) from the same concert. Also Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Super Star (around 1993). There’s also a doco on John called Finding the Voice on Netflix I think.
Welcome to the rabbit hole! I love watching people discover the music I grew up with. Check out him singing Black Dog: no video, just a sound engineer recording the sound check. Also Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. And When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, with Jimmy Barnes. And that leads you to the Jimmy Barnes/Cold Chisel rabbit hole.
John Farnham is an absolute legend and my all time favourite performer! I have been to so many of his concerts and he never disappoints! He is also a wonderful human being! Every concert I've been to in Sydney he came outside afterwards to sign autographs and chat with the fans. I have something signed from every concert I've been to.
From the same concert that you just watched is John singing ‘help’ which is EPIC! Then you gotta check out other Aussie legend who sings with John sometimes you want to see power Jimmy Barnes! You will love it!
He can truly sing anything - something like 18 genres. As others have stated - always go for live performances where available. He's always electric on stage, and goes flat out for a couple of hours. This performance was an encore and he is still going 100%. His arrangement of the Beatles' classic Help from this concert is even more epic. And again from this concert, his cover of AC/DC's Long Way to the Top showcases yet another aspect of his talent. I suggest those as the next two, before going anywhere you like.
301 comments in 10 days? That must be a record? But doesn't that just say how much John is loved. I play his youtube videos daily, many times. Not just the performances but interviews, documentaries, guest appearances - big charity fundraiser, committed family man - all round gorgeous Mr Nice Guy. May'24. UK. E❤
The story of the song is we can turn the world around by sticking together and stop the fear of living with the violence of people branding guns, domestic violence any violence what’s so ever ❤️🇦🇺🐨🐨🇦🇺

Such an incredible voice and this performance was EPIC! What else should we check out from John? Amazing!!!
I'd love to see your reaction to "Burn For You." He wrote it for his wife, it was released in 1990.
His rendition of “Help”, lifted up by angels, too many to name
Also amazing grace with him and vanetta fields. It will make your spine tingle
You will have to look at help Beatles cover at the same concert.
Also cold chisels bow river live. These artist were hidden from the U.S
One major tip with John Farnham…. Always live performances. His studio recordings are great but the lives are a whole other level…
Definitely always live!
Good to know, thanks for the suggestion!
John is the voice live or studio. He is and always will be an Aussie icon.
Unless it’s ’when something is wrong with my baby’
This! ^
John Farnham is the GOAT. He can sing any genre to perfection .
Seems like it! Dude is unreal!
This song was in the riot scene of the movie Hot Rod
This song is like an anthem in Australia. It’s a shame he can’t sing anymore.
About time you Americans discovered good music
I used to travel from Chicago to the UK more than I do now but I heard this song there many times and liked it enough to download it in the early 2000's. All of my American friends, even those really into music, have never heard of him. This performance is absolutely amazing and I like it better than the studio version. John Farnham is an amazing singer and has incredible stage presence. Apparently he is a very down to earth and engaging if you meet him in person (read one of the most popular comment from The Vocalyst reaction to this song for the scoop). I would kill to have been at this concert.
This song is 38 years old and better than almost anything you get today.
The Aussie Legend that is John Farnham. Nobody else comes close.
He’s so good!
@setonhillstudios I was at that concert. I have seen him many times. Always react to his live performances, they are the best.
John Farnham singing Help with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is spectacular! Would love to see your reaction to that!! Once you become a fan of this great man, you also become an honorary Australian! 😊He is THE legend of Australia. Cant wait to see more reactions!
More to come from John on the channel for sure! Thanks for the recommendation and can’t wait to hear more!
I love help but it's been done to death. I can't watch another reaction to HELP.
@@personofearth5076So maybe stop watching them..? Sheesh.
@@chrlz904 Not all of them just that one. It's done to death already man. I would like to see them dive into other amazing work that he's done.
No miming, no autotune, no bullshit
John Farnham is THE voice ❤
Absolutely incredible! ❤️
Farnsy’s singing maybe next level, but he was also a master of the art of mic stand hurling. “I’ll just chuck this spinning five metres in the air and catch it one-handed mid-song like it’s no biggie.”
Haha 🤣 That’s when you are crazy comfortable on stage and just an all out performer! Thanks for watching!
Help from the same concert is a vocal masterclass
Sweet, thanks for the suggestion!
My only claim to fame is John blowing me a kiss, I was about 4 yo sitting on dads shoulders watching him perform in a shopping centre in the early 70s
Wow! That’s awesome! Thanks so much for sharing! 😁
That’s awesome, he’s pretty incredible!
Check his cover of the Beatles number, "HELP" from the same live concert. The Voice was not a fluke. Beautiful command and response to his audience.
Please...more John. You aint heard nothing yet. John is amazing and in my opinion, the best singer, performer and human being on the planet. I love him. Its a long road to discovery my friend, but a very worthwhile one. Everytime John opens his mouth, it's epic! ❤
More to come for sure! This performance was awesome and I can’t wait to check out more from him! Thanks for swinging by and hanging out!
Congratulations. You have now unlocked The GOAT.
Great Reaction thank you. Welcome to the world of our Phenomenal Aussie Legend, John Farnham! Now you have 6 decades of his awesome music to catch up on...enjoy. xo
I better get busy then! Thanks so much for stopping by and can’t wait to hear more from him!
You have to check out "Help" from the same concert. Put simply, the best live vocal ever performed.
Sweet! Thanks so much for the suggestion! Can’t wait to hear more!
This song is an anti war anthem. "We're all someone's daughter, We're all someone's son. Yet we look at each other down the barrel of a gun." It doesn't get much more anti war than that.
True!
anzac rules
As much as I like "Yet we look at each other ..." I always thought the actual lyric was " How long can we look at each other" ??? Just sayin' 🙂🇭🇲
❤ @kib6793
He is funny too, his appearances on Hey Hey its Saturday , classic 😂
It's about the people! You're the voice folks. Don't sit in silence, don't live with fear. Together the people are the voice.
Such a powerful message! Love it! ❤️ Thanks for sharing!
Saw John sing this when he was in his 70 s and he was just as good!
That’s awesome!
He is incredible.
💯 Absolutely unreal!
Apparently, according to his sons, he is singing up a storm around the house. Fingers crossed he sings in public again. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thank you so much for reacting to John Farnham. He is indeed an Australian legend and we are so proud of him. His concerts are brilliant
Everybody please stand. Australia’s unofficial National anthem. It was first released in 1986. Cold War in Russia and Berlin Wall still up. It was just about crappy world affairs.
Gotcha! Insane performance and the vocals were phenomenal!
Also against domestic violence
You're right about it being an anthem.its Australia's unofficial anthem. We all sing along when it comes on. And get chills.
Yeah that is wild that he has that much POWER! Thanks for hanging out and can’t wait to hear more from him!
I had been blessed to see him in concert a few years ago. Absolutely brilliant performer with an amazing voice. We are hoping that voice returns after his surgery and we wish him a speedy recovery ❤
So awesome and thanks for sharing! Hopefully he will be back at it before long! Have a great one! 😁
Such a cool unassuming guy love you john
Ive seen john (Farnsey )live so many times, he's absolutely amazing, this was probably one of his best concerts. There's only one other person who can come close to john as far as vocals, entertainment, crowd participation and that's Jimmy Barnes (Barnsey)
Have to check him out as well, thanks for the heads up!
Lol seriously Jimmy Barnes dosent even come close
@@TheBrownlj to each their own
What a legend Our Aussie John
May'24. UK. E❤.
There's a few epic Australian performers/ bands I regret not seeing live.....John's at the top of the list.
They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" which broke the box office ("The Voice" is what he is affectionately known as here), he can sing anything and make it sound great, First the trailer...ruclips.net/video/LocCfc5PKrE/видео.html
The next performance you should watch is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986. a John Lennon number "Help", but John F's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound)...ruclips.net/video/dv54giOSRKs/видео.html Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold".

Agree with all your choices. but for a very early John, Half Heaven/Half Heartache (1967 Johnny and Zoot) I think it could be added to your list,
Awesome thanks for all the suggestions!
Every now and then lists come up - some are personal opinions, some voted by fans, some by peers in the industry - and other artists can go higher or lower in the top 10 or 20, but John Farnham has been at number 1 for decades.
Wow! I’ve been slipping then! Gotta check out more of his catalogue! Excited to learn more about him! 😁
In whose dreams? Most lists don't even include him. You mean...our personal lists? Australian lists?
@@rickandersen2284 Get real, Rick!
@barnowl. just google best male voices in world.
Prayers that after mouth cancer 2 years ago, half his jaw replaced and still healing 🙏
He might be able to return. I've enjoyed many of his live performances 😅
John Farnham is The Voice
No doubt about it! Dude is unreal! 💯
He is so LOVED here in AUSTRALIA SUCH A PRECIOUS
Well deserved, he’s fantastic!
I always love watching anyone reacting to this song for the first time… It never fails to make this Aussie smile to watch the she amazement and joy others get from John’s insane talent!
John is just simply the best there will ever be. I am so happy I got to see him in so many fantastic live performances, just magical.
You should seriously check out his other songs. The “Voice” is a bloody legend!
The song is about people power! If we all stand together, we can achieve anything. We don't have to sit in silence, we don't have to live with fear. Stand together, together we are strong!! God bless John Farnham.
Love it! Let’s gooooo!
John Farnham - playing to win. From the same concert 🇦🇺👍🏼👍🏼
about the Song - London1985, there was an anti-nuclear rally in Hyde Park, Chris Thompson, one of the writers had intended to go but slept in, he was upset with himself, and somehow this lead him ( with the help of 3 others) to write the song , thankyou for reacting, Can't get much better than John, songs to check out (the list is long but 5 to start ) 'HELP' from the same concert, and then for something completely different, 'Granada / Elevate us' with Anthony Warlow (Main Event -concert) 'Angels' with Lisa Edwards (1994 - Rwanda Concert) When Something is Wrong with My Baby' with Jimmy Barnes, (Hey Hey it's Saturday) - and with John, ALWAYS do LIVE over studio,
Appreciate all the recommendations!
Yes Jay you nailed it and chose some of the best songs. Same as I would have!
Wonderful review, thank you, much appreciated. John sang for about 50 yrs lol. So many fantastic songs from aged about 18 to over 70. He’s our Aussie darling who can sing, from opera to heavy
Rock, nursery rhymes, and everything in between & songs he’s written himself. He’s still with us, recently recovered from cancer. He’s sung with Tom John, Tina Turner, Ray Charles and….um .. more. 😊
Yup we are proud of and love our John 💞
Super cool! Yeah, his voice is incredible and I can’t wait to check out more of his stuff! Thanks for the info and hanging out for a bit!
Tom Jones, LOL - we know who you mean, - for more - Celine Dion and we can't forget Olivia,
@@jayneattherock1083
Mush for brains here lol😂. How could I forget dear Livy and Celine 💞
I can’t wait to hear more from him! His talent is unreal and his stage performance is top notch! Thanks for watching!
More John to come on the channel for sure! Thanks for all the info and stopping by! He is clearly a phenomenal artist and I can’t wait to hear more!
He’s got the perfect singing voice, John is a powerhouse vocalist. He’s not just the best singer but one of the best human beings on the planet. Check him out singing a ballad either “a touch of paradise” or “burn for you” the concert where he’s wearing the black shirt
Thanks for the suggestions!
Awesome first time reaction to Aussie Legend John Farnham
He has been around and in the top of Aussie Charts for decades. Has had number one hits in every decade since 1967.
You will be amazed at the depth of his catalogue. Can't wait To see you discover more from our much loved aussie larrikan. You will not be dissappointed. Just a few performamces to get you started.

"Black dog" (led Zep cover) and "when something is wrong with my baby" with Jimmy Barnes
All fantastic suggestions 👍
Keep coming back to this - can never get enough of Farnsey. And have you noticed the distance between the mic and his mouth? Imagine if he held it much closer..... I'm UK, but I think I'm now an honorary Australian! UK.. E
Another must listen to is John and our other Aussie legend singing When something is wrong with your baby guaranteed you will love it!!
That’s what a few others have said! Thanks for the tip and stopping by and hanging out!
another great choice, keep up the good work
Thank you so much! Loved this performance and his vocals were on point!! Have a great day! 😁
Aussie legend. Check out his version of Help from the same concert.
You need to watch John and Jimmy Barnes "When something is wrong with my baby"
Poor John is recovering from cancer and hasn’t been seen for a while. Very sad for such a great performer and legend of Australian Rock
Johnny is the best we all love him ,glad we can share him with you all ,go johnny go ❤
While this song is an anthem and John Farnham got his moniker, 'THE VOICE,' from it, there are many other songs that John sings that better display the incredible power, versatility, range, expression , gymnastic ability etc. etc. of his voice. John Farnham is a musical genius ! This song was written by musicians in England about nuclear disarmament. However, the message of the song can be applied to different issues. John often sings songs with a message for the greater good of the world. More please and Aussies and others will be here !
a big and "Please don't ask me" with Olivia Newton-John
More of John to come on the channel for sure! Such an incredible talent and I can’t wait to go down the rabbit hole!
1986 in Australia the good old days❤
His first song Sadie the Cleaning Lady will show you how far he has come. Heaps of great songs. He did one with Jimmy Barnes which was amazing. ❤❤
His Live performances are his best!
But his Black Dog video is brilliant too!
So good!
Oh wow, I bet that was awesome!
You have entered the John rabbit hole strap in he can sing anything really anything even Opera
Wow! Can’t wait to hear more!
Great reaction. Please always react to live performances for John. They are even better than the studio recordings.
Thanks for the tip! We usually try to react to more live performances if possible. Appreciate you swinging by the channel!
One of his early songs was, "Raindrops keep falling on my head."
One of my other favourite songs from him is called "Age of Reason". John Farnham had mouth cancer and had to get part of his jaw removed a couple of years ago.
Wow! Hopefully he can recover quickly! Such an incredible singer!
You're going to find a lot on "Spotify ". John has been a star since the 1960s.
Wow, had no idea!
He's had top ten records in every decade since the 60s, and was still belting out the music and pulling in the crowds in his 70s until the cancer put the kibosh on his performing.
@@neilt6480 So sad but glad he has so many hits that the world has gotten to hear!
John Farnham is THE VOICE!
John was actually asked to join Queen in 1993..
There's a great version of "Help" in the same concert.
Yes one of our best ever. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️
G’Day mate, don’t think my last comment went through! Also check out John’s version of Help by The Beatles from the same concert!
John can sing any genre. Now in his 70’s, just had a major battle with mouth cancer. We have all been praying for him.
All the best mate. Cheers Kev
A lot of people have been requesting that one! Oh no, hopefully he can recover quickly and get back at it soon!
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for the suggestion!
Thank you.🙏
So cool! Thanks so much for the kind words and sharing! Have a great day!
Good old Derryn Hinch in the original video clip. He was a news reader here in Australia.
This was his encore song.
He had been singing for 2 hours before this song !
Wow!!! That’s wild!
Also check out John Farnham Whispering Jack.
Sweet, thanks for the heads up!
The Melbourne Concert Hall seats 2,466
You have jumped into the world of John Farnham. This song was a huge hit for John; he’s nearly 74 now and still much loved. He can sing in a wide range of genres. You should listen to Help (a Beatles cover) from the same concert. Also Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Super Star (around 1993). There’s also a doco on John called Finding the Voice on Netflix I think.
Thanks so much! So much to dig into and I can’t wait! 😁
Yes! Gethsemane from JCSS!
John doing you’re the voice with cold play is awesome. Like 20 years after this and same energy. Also look at him and jimmy barnes. EPIC!!
I bet that’s fantastic!
That’s awesome!
Same concert but 'Help' is an oldie but a goodie.
From the same concert that you just watched is John singing ‘help’ which is EPIC! Then you gotta check out other Aussie legend who sings with John sometimes you want to see power Jimmy Barnes! You will love it!
Awesome, thanks for the suggestion!
Appreciate the suggestions and you stopping by the channel! Can’t wait to hear more from him as his talent is one of a kind! Have a great one!
301 comments in 10 days? That must be a record? But doesn't that just say how much John is loved. I play his youtube videos daily, many times. Not just the performances but interviews, documentaries, guest appearances - big charity fundraiser, committed family man - all round gorgeous Mr Nice Guy. May'24. UK. E❤
That’s awesome, he’s incredibly talented and seems like an all around good dude!
The story of the song is we can turn the world around by sticking together and stop the fear of living with the violence of people branding guns, domestic violence any violence what’s so ever ❤️🇦🇺🐨🐨🇦🇺
Super cool! Thanks for the insight! ❤️
