I've watched this twice. Yet I am wondering what that bloc in front of the heater core where you unplugged the big electrical connector? I am trying to find out where the thermistor is in this car. My A/C and heat are on and off, both work, yet it is erratic. The fans never change speed no matter what the set point temperature is changed to except for low or high.

Hey there... I've got the same issue with my c4 picasso half heating the inside so I'll have a look on that matrix... but do you think this bad matrix could affect the coolant circulation in the engine bay like something doesn't allow the coolant to circulate freely??

      Hi there
As far as i am aware the matrix itself still had enough flow to allow the engine to keep cool, it was more so the far end of the matrix was clogged so coolant was still flowing through it but only on the passenger side.
I am not sure exactly what way the entire cooling system is plumbed on these engines if the hoses to the matrix were blocked would that cause the engine to cool less effectivley or if they play a more passive part in the system.
This car experienced no overheating issues with its engine but the heater matrix not working was more so a problem for my aunt driving it in the winter with my elderly granny.

Ok i understand... thanks for your answer 👍🏽👍🏽 meanwhile i drained flushed and cleaned as much as i could the coolant system with a Holts product and vinegar and the heat inside is really nice now... one side is still hotter but it's well better than it was 😊😅@peugeotCitroen2CV

Did the pipes fit in tight? I’ve ordered one from eBay and after tightening them it’s leaking

Yeah, they are like that. Have to run some grease on the O-rings before you reinsert the pipes. Stops it from leaking.

Hey I've just come across your channel and I figured you'd be the right person to ask.
I'm looking to purchase either a PSA product or a Renault from the 2008-2014ish range. For the Renault I'm looking at the 2.0 naturally aspirated petrol, alongside their dci diesels (1.5/1.6/2.0). For PSA cars it seems the 2.0 HDI is the best engine (the 1.6thp the least reliable).
Wondering if you have any advice to steer me one way or another, if the PSA 2.0 is better than the Renault 2.0 dci, or if any of the engines mentioned above are to be avoided. Thanks!

      Hi there, thanks for asking.
I prefer PSA products myself, just think they feel better made and generally are more comfortable and nicer to drive.
Although any renault with the 1.5 K9K diesel engine is generally quite good, its gruffer than the peugeot 1.6hdi but seems to be hardy enough.
The 1.6 16v HDi did have the reputation for blowing turbos, its not a bad engine is quite punchy and easy to run but it will not tolerate lack of maintenance as well as the old 2.0 8v engine. Remember that engine was replaced with the 2.0 16v that the 407 and facelift 307 would have got.
With regards petrols... PSA petrols after the TU range and excuse the language they went to shite. The prince 1.6 petrol in all guises i wouldn't touch with a barge pole, the puretech 1.0 and 1.2 3 cylinder engines in some guises they can be quite flexible engines but i dont like 3 cylinder engines in general and then the wet belt is another thing to look out for. If its been changed, and if the correct oil is used it might be ok. But buying one used you might need to budget to remove the sump clean out any bits of belt in the strainer and replace the belt.
Renault petrols, i am less experienced with but in general the naturally aspirated ones like the 1.2 16v and 1.6 are fairly simple and straightforward. 2.0 might be a bit thirsty.
Their diesels, i do not have enough first hand experience with, just dont think they are as good as the PSA engines.
Personally i really like the 1.6 8v HDi they fixed some of the issues the 1.6 16v engine had, in something like the 2012 C4 hatch or berlingo its a good choice. I really like it in this C4 picasso with a proper torque converter automatic gearbox.
In a lot of applications its on £30 a year tax or lower.
