He’s very good at talking up the value of a guitar
This part may be original and that piece may not. Only one way to tell if its worth a darn. Put it in Michael's hands. Yep, its good!
These guitars don't seem to be RARE lots still floating around ... all over USA , Canada , Europe , Asia .... Stratocasters and Tele's make Gibson's look second rate
They get less rare the more unoriginal they are. I do wonder sometimes that maybe there is a master builder out their building some almost perfect fakes that even fool some experts. It would be worth it if you could pull it off.
Wow, you put the neck back plate on upside Down!
Check again
Every time a vintage guitar is taken apart, it loses 10% of its Mojo...
LOL.....yes, disturbing that 62 year old dust within the cavities has an affect on the inherent tone within the instrument
@@fostexfan160 Not the dust, but once you remove the neck on any guitar, the feel and action will never be exactly the same as before removal
That's not true at all
@@sgt.gruhnn What ????? That is absurd.
@@sgt.gruhnn thank God I'm not the only one who picks up a random guitar I've never played before and can tell how many times the neck was taken off
So depressing I'll never get to have quality time with an instrument like this.
I agree
You didn’t loose anything. Play one and you will appreciate more the new ones. Look we’re the owner put the shim. Look how used the trussroad screw looks. That means that it has problems and it drove people nuts. That’s why they sold it. Don’t be a victim of this people! All this guitars are very unreliable and poorly made.👍👍
You never know, maybe you'll get lucky at some point and find a nice player's grade guitar at a good price. I got lucky many times, you can too.
You can get some nice relic guitars out there, just keep searching 👍
@@vintagepipesnightmares True. I started playing in the 60's and these guitars were a royal pain. Even Hendrix didn't really like them. The design changed in 1970 which was much better. It also brought the maple neck. I bought one brand new in early 1970. Candle Apple Red. Fantastic pickups. Rarely went out of tune. Never adjusted the neck in 5 years I owned it. Played it thru Bandmasters and Bassmans.
I love these videos when they take them apart for verification! I could watch them all day and still be fascinated. Keep 'em coming.
2/60, the month I was born. Too bad I can’t afford that guitar.
These guys are guessing, like most of us.
Just me but with so many well made fakes out these days I just dont trust any "vintage" guitar. Probably few 1960 strats made but bet there are thousands on the market. Its like art. Forgeries out number the real.
what's the big whoopie? it doesn't sound any better than one right off the shelf. Don't fall for the 'vintage' hype.
Fretwire looks pretty well worn out
It's ever so moving to see how this 62 years old mojo Strat is still in a very good shape !!! Thank you very much for this video !
Came for the guitar stayed for the tech.
That rod has been given a going over that adjustment nut is a mess .................
all slab boards twisted and necks where replaced under warranty Quote *Tom Walker Music Man 76'
MY GOD!!!..TAKE THOSE STUPID MASKS OFF!!!
If you look closely even with the shim of the trussroad nut is way too visible. So the neck pocket is too shallow and the neck is very high in the pocket. This old guitars always come with problems.
Look how used the trussroad screw looks. Look where they put the shim. All this means that it has problems and it drove people crazy. That’s why they sold it. Even after the shim was removed the neck stays to proud in the pocket.
Is the neck plate upside down??
Yes, please. Make mine a double. See you in October.
Where does Tomo find the time...smh.
Hi,,As a Gibson guy..its funny for me to see a strat [which i love] but looking at the 2 E strings...they are too close to the edge of fretboard..back in my day this was a common problem..to me anyway...I did own a mid 60s strat for a year or so..it had a fairly big spring in the trem arm hole... I always wondered if that was original or some type of mod..to make the arm Tighter..Great axe ,,Thanks Dave
⚓️ Thanks Mas, Jen, NORM!!! 😎
It's still doing it's job, even with a replacement pot.
Dear Normans, Does this guitar’s saddles say “Fender Pat. Pend.”?
@ 6:41 the neck plate is on upside down
Nope, in a strange way and period they stamped it at the bottom side. take a still and you will see the Numbers are in the right way
mmm....eye candy...
Nothing Sexier for me than an old Strat.😍👌
sweet af piece of wood
The shim is in the wrong place because the new hire who didnt sign the necks probably set them too.
Haha Norm sure knows the selling features 😂
The obsession of a 2x4 LOL 😀
Funny!......🍁
7:10-7:14.....case wear found on most old Fenders.
Christ Norm, buy him a Fluke meter.
The guitar player is amazing
What a great way to test a beautiful vintage strat. With a ton of reverb. Not.
"Fullerplast", as a soil for finishing, began to be used in the sixty-first year. On examination, this is not the case.
P.S. Ever wondered why the Japanese don't pronounce the letter "L"? Any considerations?
Some Asian languages don’t have a letter that sounds like L or R and that’s why it’s hard for them to pronounce it if they learn English as a second language.
cool guitar
G string is about to fall off the neck on this one.
do a refin sand down the neck and relic a bit, should be a good guitar then
Floyd rose for tuning stability is a must
@@dennisv1358 Also needs rerouting for a set of active humbuckers.
The sad thing is, is somewhere some asshole actually did such things... thanks for the chuckle haha
BORING.
Bit disappointed that Norm didn’t answer that phone. Could have been a buyer!
It was me, and I was going to offer £29,000.☺️
don't quit your day job
His day job is pretty freaking sweet tho
phonebook caps are usually yellowed an deteriorated, this one looks almost new
Joe bonamassa sense would be tingling when a vintage guitar got taken apart for any reason
