    Happy I saw your video. My mom lives with me and she isn’t a fan of automation, the inability to the manual open and close the blinds

      Yeah, I love the functionality but I do miss being able to manually open and close. Means if batteries go or WiFi disconnects it restricts the action.

    I purchased two of those for the office because I want my plants to have more sun by turning the blinds on at sunrise. The first wand stop communicating with the network a few weeks ago and the second just stop working as well. They last one year and if you change your password on the network good luck to reset them. very upset at this point.

      Worth reaching out to the maker. I also had a similar issue when I changed my router and it turned out that it was the router that wasn't letting them connect to the network so I had to reconnect them using my older one since they are 2.4ghz.

    I'm itching for a good UK smart blind wand - they must be on the horizon just feel I'm a little too early in my enthusiasm! Any news on when these are coming over the pond or if they're looking at a version 2? Have you since found any other wand options?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 года назад

      No other options that I've found so far. :( I'll reach out to Adam at Sunsa and see if he can give me an update on if there's a V2 on the horizon or what the story is with international shipping etc.

    Does this work with cordless blinds?
    Thank you!

      If the blind uses a wand it should work, failing that you should check out Somfy and Zemismart who do lots of other solutions for curtains and blinds.

    Adam does this ship to Ireland yet ? Im in Ireland and looking at these. I prefer the look compared to the switchbot. Are they still working for you ?

      Not directly, but you could use a service like AddressPal by An Post. I have 4 of them now and they're working great. One of my favourite automatons and this is the only thing I've found that works with vertical blinds.

    What is the esternal diameter of the tube? Which service did you use to ship to the UK?
    Have you found other solutions available in the UK?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 года назад +1

      The tube is about 15mm maybe a little more, basically big enough for AA batteries. For shipping I live in Ireland so our postal service An Post, has a US postal address service, so it's likely Royal Mail have something similar, as, so far, I haven't found anything else like this that ships to Europe. I've found other devices that use remote control, but this is the only that's Alexa / voice assistant compatible.

      @@AndysTechLife I am looking at solutions with open source local API, to integrare with Home Assistant. Which other product did you find?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 года назад +1

      Oh good question. Worth checking the API on this one as I've integrated it into a coupe of things including Flic but haven't tried with home assistant yet. Worth checking anything based on Tuya / Smart Life as these have very open APIs.

    I would love to get but Indiegogo says too much on their site about "contributing" and not buying. Will I get the product I shell out money for? Thanks

      They are being fulfilled now. I've got 4 so far and I have to say Adam from Sunsa homes is really responsive and good with updates and after care. Just be advised they only shop to North America for now.

    Hey Andy i was wondering if you did get the voice control working with your Alexa. I'm in Australia so I would greatly thankful if you could ask "Adam" from sunsa if it does work in Australian or they're planning to implement it in Australia

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Год назад

      I got it working but in a very round about way. I ended up using the Sunsa API and webhooks to get it working. So I have an Alexa routine which triggers an IFTTT Web request which sends the command directly via the Sunsa webhooks. It works but it's not elegant. I know he is branching out and has included other timezones outside the US now so hopefully we'll get a global skill soon as my way works, but a native Alexa skill would be so much easier.

      @@AndysTechLife ok i sorta understand would you be able to film a RUclips short or further explain your process and how you got it working with the Sunsa Api. The time zones seem simple however i worried about the google or alexa not connecting with the wand.

    Everyone should get an official 'lazy b'stard' badge when buying these.

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 года назад +1

      True that, but that's most of the automation in my apartment! All just so I can be lazy! :)

      Not lazy if the windows are 15' above floor level and the sun shines right into your 85" TV!
