I know there are 2 camps on Bose. I purchased the original cubes at the Monterey Jazz Festival in the late 1980s. I still use them and they sound great. I do not care for the Bose center speaker or subwoofers but I like the cubes. I bought another pair of Bose cubes and use 2 pair on the left and the right to give the sound stage some depth. I hooked up a pair of Velodyne Subwoofers on each side with the Bose cubes | Onkyo Receiver | Sonus Port for streaming music | and Sony Blu Ray which plays all formats. It sounds awesome! I tent to play mostly jazz or acoustic early listening but it sounds great with all types of music.
For some reason people hate Bose. I've always liked Bose, purchased a pair of 4001's about 25 years ago, I can't tell you how many speakers I have purchased that were supposed to sound better that not only did not but died. The 4001's are still kicking and sounding awesome. A couple of years ago, I purchased a pair of 151 outdoor speakers, again I'm completely satisfied with these speakers! I have always like the Acoustimass systems but thought they were overpriced and the subwoofer in those systems are lame.
I've had several different speakers for my home theater system. Klipsch, Infinity, Polk and Boston Acoustics. I would often transfer speakers to my bedroom and den when I upgraded. Infinity's in the bedroom, Klipsch's in the den. Polks as my home theater speakers. One of the Polk front speakers died, decided to upgrade with a new pair of Polks that I found for $250. Connected them, they sounded very good but they are a bit big for mounting on the wall with a bracket. Decide to pull my Infinity's from the bedroom and see how they sounded. These 10 year old Infinity's sounded much better than the Polks! Put the Polks in the bedroom, they actually work better there since my bedroom sub is small and the Polks do produce more bass than the Infinity's plus I want the best sound where I have the most use.
I also had a single Boston in my bathroom that the tweeter had recently blown out on. Needed to replace it but wasn't going to buy an expensive speaker, it's the bathroom! Was at a pawn shop, saw a single Bose Redline double cube, picked it up for $30, brought it home and damn if this little speaker didn't out perform every speaker I have, now it's in the bathroom!! Found a deal on Ebay for 5 of them, gonna use them for my 7.1 surround system! Love Bose!!
I run my Redline Double cube speakers with a Kenwood 107VR Surround System. I use a vintage Technics SH-8017 7 band stereo graphic equalizer with it. For my front speakers I use Bose 301 iii speakers. Of course my B front speakers, rear surround and center speakers are Redlines, with the center Redline being a single cube. I refurbished a Radio Shack Optimus 12" subwoofer that I've had nearly 30 years with a 400 watts subwoofer that I use a Behringer iNuke amplifier to drive. The speakers are strategically placed in my livingroom and I have to tell you that, movies, tv, or music they sound GREAT. Of course when you are running them flat you are at the mercy of whomever produced the music/sound that you are running through them. Adding an equalizer and your own subs are what sweeten the deal.
The double cube redlines are one of the best I’ve heard. I’m looking out for a set of 5 now. The only drawback is the subwoofer. My mum had the hole setup but the sub was gutless. I want just the 5 redlines and to use my own 300watt active subwoofer. I know these are very old now but I’ve not heard anything that’s much better. The kef eggs are good but I love the design of the double cubes too. You can get every part of the room too.
I cant wait to try my new (to me) acoustimass 10 iv setup, but I also got a Klipsh Synergy C20 center speaker for $20 on offerup! Hopefully that will give it a more clear center to bring it all together.
hi never used bose acoustimass.does these really loud and is it true that bose miss some frequency in the bandwith.
Hey mate, what kind of amp can I use with these speakers type?
I bought a whole lifestyles 12 with all speakers and wall mounts and Bose console for $100. They were 2k new
can you connect these to a computer?
Would a pair of these cube speakers be good to add to a 7.1 Surround Amp?
Really awesome speakers...crystal clear sound....

Do you use a module with these or straight to AVR?
i have the am 5 hometheater set up wich I have a pair of these for my surround sound but when you mate them with a better sub they do rock the house.
ok
richard abney yes. I have a very small living room and paired the redlines and acoustimass with a 15 sub. Sounds good to me. Bose are over priced. Thats why i bought mine on Craigslist.
1:07❤ Bose ❤
can you hook these up directly to a non-bose receiver? what's this I hear about an adpater? I think that's for a certain line of cube speaker right? what about the redline series, which are stacked on top of each other and can swivel?
When you talk about the frequencies being triggered within the speaker itself, does it need the Bose receiver or subwoofer specifically, or can you use again, a non-bose source?
I have double cubes from the AM-5 series 2 and they sound exactly the same when hooked up directly to my receiver as they do hooked up to the ports on the sub. The ones stacked and that can swivel are called double cubes.
yes you can hook them up to any thing pretty much it just uses normal speaker wires
and yes the red line series stack and swivel
What is the minum watts to use bose cube?
I use a set of am5 for my center and another set for the rear surround. I think they’re fine for that. They don’t need full frequency.
The center needs to be near full range. The most important speaker in most systems.
@@MilGrip76 I thought both center & surround were mostly mid to low, Like a 100 to 7k? I used to remember such things but thought I’d read at least the center emphasized the human voice range? I’m probably all wet.
I do have the 601 up front ( with a tandem tuned 302 for LFE) and a set of 401 as rear corners being fed a simulated “hall” signal to fill in.
All powered by two DBX-BX III mk2.
Old gits antiquated analog audio alter
@chrissmith7669 under the old formats that would be true. Anything Dolby 5.1 or Atmos or THX having a robust center makes a big difference. Many brands have center channels with built-in subwoofers! Love the DBX stuff, have several sets of "Soundfield" towers in my collection. There is plenty of "good enough" vintage out there. I'll never go 100% new. My Sunfire subwoofer collection (5 and counting) is testament to that 🙃
@@MilGrip76 one of these days I’ll put together a home cinema system with something like Atmos but for now the old analog beast is pro-logic at best. Aka 2 real channels with almost two more through mathematical manipulation. :-)
Bose sounds great with music as well, for there small size they are brilliant.
ok
No
Does the red-line mark any improvement in sound or quality over the other cube speakers, or is it just a color style
ok
@@janeryder6581 it’s the early model i believe that come apart with screws. The newer ones went to glued together bits as i understand it.
Wt a qute design 🥰
I have these 🔊 speakers and I paid 75 bucks for them with wall mounts .
I am running a Onkyo TX-NR 676 recevier .
I get good sound .I also have a garrard 990b turntable with a audio Technica AT95E cartridge and my analog sound is great .
Are you using them with a bose module or without? If without, what frequency do you have them set at?
@@rayvalero8580 Ive got module from bose 5.1 you cant go any higher than 5.1 speakers on bose
I have to disagree my father bought some about 30 years ago and they still sound amazing we have the sub and two sets of two cubes amd they are great watch movies and listen to music preferably rock heavy rock and they sound better than most speakers that I've heard
Well said spot on.
Because you probably never heard better
+Jeremy Clarkson I have heard many sound systems but they were all new and these were still really good if not equal with some of the higher end speakers that I've heard and for them being over 30 years that's pretty impressive. since we paid $150 US for them they're really good
i say they still sound lot of the others ita all about money bose sounds greats
Bose customer service is great I accidentally dropped a pair of their ear buds and stepped on it and went back to bose store with reciept no warranty purchased and they gave me a new pair with 75% off
Around 15 years ago I installed surround sound systems for business and residential customers. Without a doubt, Bose were the worst sounding, most cumbersome systems to deal with. Moreover, I could have provided customers a significant increase in quality for less than half the cost they blew on their Bose system. Might as well get a tunafish can, drop a 2" speaker in it and plug it in.
Any suggestions for good cheap speakers? If you could please take your time to email me @Tom.g.few@gmail.com
Thanks
Is there a difference between redline and non-redline bose cube speakers?
Im also asking the same question. Have you found out?
@@arvinpaunil7265 no one has replied or did I find anything on the web. Not looking anymore. Just getting redline just in case.
@@Djmambo77 far as I know the red line are held together with screws not glued together like later revisions. Never seen anyone claim different specs on the “twiddlers”
can you make the Bose red line cube speakers Wireless
YOU CAN MAKE ANY SPEAKER WIRELESS,,YOU HAVE TO BUY A UNIT TO MAKE IT WORKOKEWORK
