Honestly this is damn near the most incredible thing on youtube, and I have watched it at least a dozen times over the years. Amazing enough to see Amy and the rhythm section in action, abut Ray Crawford? And DUPREE BOLTON??? Anyone who has not heard Bolton on Harold Land's "The Fox", your life is incomplete until you rectify that situation. One of the greatest jazz records ever.
Nothing icy coool about this tune. These West coast guys are burnin'. This show makes me realize I missed something big back then. Thanks for posting these shows. As hip as Cannonball, Miles & Diz. Great stuff.
The lp is impossible to find, the cd reissue was available for about 10 minutes years back. To see a live performance from 1962 with the illusive Dupree Bolton is just amazing. This show needs to be available on DVD. End of story.
This is fantastic stuff. I've never seen Dolo Coker play before. Many thanks to whoever posted this. If you're unfamiliar, check out the album Katanga which feature Jack Wilson on piano instead.Also-if you dig Dolo he also plays on Art Peppers' album Intensity, which lives up to the title.
The amazing guitar player hardly moves playing incredible exciting music, Rock players play a three note solo and gesture as if they were giving birth!....There!!!
How cool is that? Totally relaxed with a cigarette in his hand.. Scenery seems to be 1000 years ago. Music is still fresh and makes me jump out of my armchair.
