Would student loan discharge be a taxable income and IRS would collect from deceased’s estate?

Follow-up question for you. I have a private student grad loan with Navient. When I got the loan in 2009 I had a co-signer. He has recently passed away. I sent the death cert to Navient and they have mailed a statement that states I am solely responsible for the loan. However, his widow states that she is very concerned about Navient coming after his estate in the future if I don’t pay. (She even noticed that the loan is still listed on his credit report) She has lawyers involved and demands that I pay the loan off immediately. Thoughts?
