Awe man, “Big Time Let Down Devastator”??? Appreciate the honest review, I’m still pumped about completing this though. The fact they all have the 3 modes still makes me stoked for them.
When you complete yours, be sure to do try him on all fours, the only things that change in transformation is his head needs to be angled up but it’s just an easy mistransformation and it looks so worth it
Big Time Let Down Devastator... hahahah, i do like the ring of that :-) hope things are well with you and your family bro, hope everyone has a speedy recovery :-)
You’re talking about it being unwieldy and how the legs can’t handle the weight yet your handling it like it’s a deluxe class. I just completed mine, and am able to get into a bunch of great poses including a crawling pose and it’s very sturdy.
Got mine together and it was pretty rough and even partially frustrating at times. Needs some pretty serious stability reinforcing on numerous areas to even stand there. There's pieces that aren't being utilized and have no where to go or pegged in (maybe pegs would of helped some stability?) Not entirely sure i'll keep him in devastator mode and maybe just stick with the individuals Constructicons at this point. Maybe the upcoming DNA kit that was just announced may help with some issues (as they've cleaned up Hasbro's messes several times before) but i won't get my hopes up at this point and after such a long wait of getting this thing completed just to be a bit let down.
I have the movie devy that came 07' i think and was complete in the box. I think it was $100 maybe less i can't remember. Now the bots didn't have heads or transform other than connect to form devy. Is that figure pretty close to this figure in terms of look and feel? What is your opinion on that figure compared to this figure. Which of the 2 figures do you prefer more than the other.
yes, i did have that figure set you mentioned. in fact i did a quick overview review of it i think way back on my fxfranz channel. i never really liked that version since the individual parts did not transform. it was just on my shelf and felt like a statue. ended up selling it off. i still prefer the Studio Series version because they actually transform as individual robots
Transformers: Studio Series - ROTF Constructicon combiner Devastator, is awesome. The molded/sculpted details and color scheme from the individual eight Constructicons components really is awesome. He's more accurate to his movie appearance then his original ROTF toys, and we actually get big ROTF Constructicons figures that combine into Devastator. He's a sight to behold, but looks aren't everything. I agree with your issues on his articulation and stability. He's had mo knees, his balance isn't that good, and the neck armor piece from Overload is loss as hell. Seriously how does that piece clip in properly? But despite his flaws, he's still and awesome figure to have. With this combiner completed, the next two combiner projects for Studio Series on the list is Dragonstorm and Infernocus. So hopefully they will use their notes and improve on the combiner tooling from Devastator. -I'm still planning on completing him, with Overload as the last piece that's needed. Not planning on getting Skipjack, as I prefer Rampage. Studio Series Devastator would be my very first Transformers Combiner that I own. I plan on combining the Constructicons into Devastator once, take a few pictures of this accomplishment, pose him in that crawling on all four fan mode, and then disassemble him into his individual Constructicons components. Only to assemble them again into the mighty Devastator on special occasions. -Yes, I have heard of the rumors of a possible Devastator box set. At that time, I only had six Constructicons, minus Scrapper. Whether I would get it or not, since I'm getting the Constructicons separately anyways, is left in the air. Mostly comes downs to what's it about. My guesses are Devastator with a sandy desert deco, him with weapon accessories, or him and the Constructicons in G1 colors. The last one is a stretch, but if Studio Series is doing a box set for Devastator, then it has to have some special features. Speaking of, putting the Constructicons boxes together, the possible Devastator box set and display backdrop would be huge.
very well said bro, you have some very good points! i completely agree with you :-) oh my, if they actually do release that boxed set, i really hope it won't be numbered...

What Chef' is dealing with is clearly an issue however the general consensus seems to be that most of the products make for a stable combiner and you can pose him in a number of ways. As someone who owns the figure, I wouldn't consider him a statue by any stretch. He simply lacks articulation in specific areas that, for me personally, are overlooked and his playability is pretty damn good for what it's worth which is something you have to consider: How much can this figure do in spite of how much it's pulling off. Sorry to say but this combiner definitely has no fun factor at all especially from a play ability standpoint. There is no doubt Siege & Earthrise figures are more enjoyable.
The left arm is a floppy mess as well. To me, the Devastator mode was just an extra feature they added as a fun gimmick, since they focused more on making the robot modes as accurate as they can. As a set, the Constructicons look great, but as the Devastator combined mode? Ehhh. It’s something left to be desired but I appreciate the effort and it’s still honestly way better than any of the previous movie Devy figures we’ve had.

If you put him onto all fours, the proportions really do get fixed, especially the head, the feel of the figure gets fixed as well including stability, I highly recommend trying it
thanks for the tip... it's just i would never have figured that out, because even when hasbro displays this guy, he's always standing in a hulk pose. thanks again :-)
Could it be a case of a couple duds? The other reviews that I saw made no mention of such short comings and a respond I got from Egmo was the ratchets were pretty good. I guess I will find out once I finish building mine.
I wouldn't say that it's a bad figure. You just have some QC issues, especially Long Haul due to his loose waist. You may need to get another. Plus, the mixer piece is meant to be held in place by Mixmaster's smokestacks, not how you put it which they were splayed out. Therefore, the piece was loose up top. And while you do say that it was a missed opportunity to give him knees, remember that Hasbro is on a budget with their official mainline figures. And also, remember that those are Overload's arms serving as the thighs. There would probably be no way to add a knee bend in without heavily re-engineering the arms.
ok. if you put the smokestacks back then they won't be as movie accurate. the knees... hasbro on a budget... please.... these things cost an arm and a leg already and they're still on a budget. that's why hasbro hates 3P companies, becuase they're showing that it really doesn't cost that much to make good transformers. hasbro has been ripping us off because they know fans like us will just lap up anything they dish out...
The figure is cool! (That’s how it looks like) don’t get me wrong it’s definitely a wonderful figure. But I agree with you chef, the combine mode is a epic fail! And your opinion is your opinion, so it’s not wrong! Keep up the good work bro and thanks for commenting haha 😂🙏

The problems are definitely true, it is still not a deal breaker , its features outweights the issues but still it cannot be ignored. I do hope there will be some third party upgrade such, joints upgrade for knees and perhaps a way to unlock the waist, and some more upgrades to have a better looking crawl pose. BTW, the leg ratchet on yours look too loose compared to the others but cannot really tell but I would recommend to look into that it may differ from copy to copy.
my thoughts exactly, bro! and thanks for the tip on the leg joints. they're tight before combined mode. it's really the physics of the combined mode that's wrong with this set. thanks again!
One more thing that I notice... everything is being hold together by a single joint on a long peg on one of Scavenger's tires.. That thing snaps, then it's bye bye Devastator...

I’m still 3 figures away from completing Devastator. Even if the completed combiner isn’t perfect, the fact that the individual figures are pretty fun in there own right kind of makes up for it in my opinion.

Great review my man! Maybe it's just me, but it seems that the entire studios line is met with just too many compromises. Very much like the movies they're based on. Fitting I guess.
Finish the set. Take what Chef' is saying with a grain of salt. He's not wrong in what he's saying but I own the set as do many others on r/Transformers and the feedback has been more positive than anything else. It seems like a lot of people are defining the figure based on this review and that's not a good thing. Chefatron is doing his job by reviewing it honestly (and very well at that) but people are taking it the WRONG way. Again, I own this thing and it is quite the impeccable figure. Tolerances are all good and he stands up like a champ. Ultimately do whatever you want but if you love the SS line and you want to finish it then finish it. You will not regret it.
It's horrible, I love it! I like it enough to complete the set, but I will display the components in robot mode. I mean, it is great to have the option to combine them into Devastator even though he looks OK, but you can't deny each individual robot looks sick. Thanks for your honesty chef, keep the good work!
What a wonderful & exquisite piece of ...aRt. Right? You can build one yourself by buying several random toys & household items throw in some donuts (everybody likes donuts) superglue them together in the dark & BOOM! Done😊
hahahahaha yes!!! perhaps... but i'm guessing on the drawing table i think hastaktom had put a lot of great features on the combined mode but was utimately cut out due to budget cuts. i don't know, i think this was a missed opportunity for hastaktom
@@chefatron seriously though I think you're right, the engjneers who design these toys don't get to call it, ultimately its the accountants who get last words. Totally a missed oppurtunity indeed.
That's a pathetic piece lol. I normally keep my hopes and expectations real low for Hasbro Transformers. Even if e.g. Earthrise and Studio Series figures look great. This one is just horrendous. For the price you pay for the figures there really should have been more to gain. And they Hasblowed this time. I started collecting SS Devastator one Constructicon at a time so that's gonna be it for me. I won't pay for another box set which will be a straightup repaint haha. Anyway thanks bro for such an honest review as always. Glad you did your best to show us what to expect and how best to pose him practically
Hey bro great review as always. I dont have this set but I can relate to the frustration of combining a huge figure with weak joints. I experienced this with my failed purchase of warbotron bruticus. That movie devastator will be great with the legion/legends scale figures. IE the small mudflap and skids figures to reenact that battle from ROTF.

Glad you did your best to show us what to expect and how best to pose him practically
hahahaha :-) well said bro!
oh no prob man, and thanks so much for always supporting the channel :-)
Hey bro great review as always. I dont have this set but I can relate to the frustration of combining a huge figure with weak joints. I experienced this with my failed purchase of warbotron bruticus. That movie devastator will be great with the legion/legends scale figures. IE the small mudflap and skids figures to reenact that battle from ROTF.
thanks so much bro, yeah, medyo nakaka-inis, after mong hintayin ng matagal, tapos palpak...
i totally know how you feel now bro :-) yes, i think so
@@chefatron Palpak yung Warbotron. You can only stand him upright. Joints and connectors to hold arms up. Forget about posing the foot sections get undone too easily!
@@jotimusprime3943 sorry to hear that bro, ito na ba yung pangalawa mong nabili ?
@@chefatron Hi Bro first purchase pa ito. Kung palpak pa rin second purchase give up nako. Yung second purchase as of last package tracking nasa shanghai pa july 18. Yung pinadala ko sa iyo July 23 yung last update arrival Manila. Thanks bro!
@@jotimusprime3943 sana nga ok na bro. medyo bad new bro, yung presidente ng Ph nagdeclare na balik MECQ from GCQ ang Metro Manila aug.4-18. so balik check points and stricter quarantine measures. not the strictest though, yung ECQ ang pinaka strict lockdown. so parang balik sa previous quarantine situation. businesses can still operate but i think sarado uli restaurants, salons, some parts of the malls... shut down public transportation uli. labo dito bro.
Is it just your copy? Because other reviewers have sturdy legs and feet
probably
Can’t stand well on its own. Why were they so worried about this guy in the movie? Just put a little extra weight on the back and he would’ve toppled
hahahaha yes definitely! i was kinda missing that vacuum mouth he had in the movie for this version. i think that was difficult to do with the mixmaster and scavenger combination
You can put him into croling mode
Watch prime vs prime too put him into that mode
yes, but that's a fan mode, i just wanted to stick with what hasbro takara tomy intended for this set... though, he did an epic crawl mode!
All right 😁
What did you expect from a Michael Bay character that was destroyed within minutes of it's introduction in ROTF?
ok
@@chefatron Btw, like Mr. ShartimusPrime, I would finish the collecting the rest, without yellow Skipjack. I'm not a fan of repaints/remolds. All past & present 3rd Party Devastators, esp Toyworld's, are way cooler than this.
@@cadsux that's cool bro :-) thanks!
Hi I feel bad for your hopes 🥺and frustration hopefully your day gets better
thanks so much :-)
All 8 Studio Series Devastator Set is not a Titan Class Figure.
And Studio Series Devastator is so... tiny, than the Generations Titan Class Figure.
yes, perhaps. should have been bigger
It looks amazing chefatron! Keep up the good work loved the video. 😁👍
thanks so much bro, i really appreciate it :-)
Um actually there is a knee you use the ankle bend also my combine mode is fine and I love him
doesn't work on mine... maybe i got a defect (as usual :'( )
I agree with this ,I would call it a fail to
thanks so much :-)
Otherwise you could display it make it look better
Chef no need for apology. Anyone who knows you as a reviewer is about playability and poseability. I know your pain with hasbro. For me, i have seven and im waiting on the big torso guy. Im committed to completing the set. Stay inspirational Chef and much love brotha, solid.
oh brother, thank you so much as always for your kind words of support and encouragement, it really means a lot :-)
1:40 look like he got punched in the gut by Goku😆😆
There are ways to get him in a perfect accurate look. Yes he isn’t much to play but I enjoy watching mine in the shelf. If you want I can send you some pictures on Instagram if you want
that would be awesome bro. on instagram i'm fxfranz thanks !
HE IS THE ALL MIGHTY DEVASTATOR!!!
yes !
How the hell did they convince you to buy that 😂
they look great and amazing individually, but when you combine them...
Oh, its trash, at least the individual constructicons are worth the price.
yes, indeed
It's just your figures
Where is his balls? :P
Nice man 😄😄😄😁👍😀
thanks so much bro :-)
@@chefatron 😁👍
Devastotor
Wowww love it!!
thanks so much bro, as always :-)
@@chefatron BUT CHEFATRON THE BOX SET IS EXACT SAME PRICE 300 OR 400 IS MORE CHEAP SEPARATE FOR 2 LEADER 65 EURO 4 VOYAGER 35 AND FOR 2 DELUXE 25 OR 30 EURO IS FINE FOR COMBINE MODE
@@GABRIEL-kw7uy it could come out cheaper since some of these figures are more difficult to find than the others and could be more expensive
Kinda don’t want hear you complain for 10 minutes......I’ll just wait for the next video lol
hahahah my bad, bro XD
You’re the best
oh thanks so much!!!! i really appreciate this :-)
You’re welcome and by the way I really do mean it
Dont be sorry bro. It sucks. waited all this time to be disappointed. Epic Fail i would give it a four
thanks bro, i really appreciate it :-)
