It wasn't that simple. The ride wouldn't operate because the third seat hadn't had its belt cycled, but the first ride operator didn't realize the reason. The second ride operator released all the belts, and then went to each seat and re-engaged each belt, failing to notice that the belts in seat three were under the passenger. Because the "error" (belts haven't all been cycled) was now resolved, the control allowed the ride to operate. This was clearly an operator training issue- the manual from the factory was over 100 pages, but the park wrote and trained from an in house document that was almost three pages long. Condolences to the family. Such a terrible situation. ruclips.net/video/BqzFnOk1YEw/видео.html
She was sitting on her lap belt because the operator connected it already on the ride before her turn. When she got on the ride, she sat on the lap belt. Ride kept alarming that something was wrong. Operators didn’t notice she had the tail of the lap belt across her and not the actual belt. Alarm was ignored and the ride started. This is just too awful!! This definitely falls on the park, waiver or not.
For those wondering about the girl who died it was determined to be human error and no mechanical issue at all. The rides safety systems tried to notify the workers but they overrode those systems without double checking and the girl fell out while sitting on top of her buckle.
just fearless they should have and they will have to live with it the rest of their lives but at the end of the day people rely on the operator to follow the safety procedures. That’s their job.
@@stellarwind1946 agreed. I always check my belt on any ride and reach over to my daughter and check her belt. it is possible that they just were confused or caught up in the moment.
@@BlastinRope same thing - a 6 year old is WAY too small to be on a ride like this. Even with the parents consent, the ride operator should have had some common sense and not let her on. And if there would have been an issue, call a manager to handle it.
it's perfectly safe to ride, so long as you meet the height requirements. the fail safe light went on, and somehow the operator was taught on how to override it and continue with dispatch. this is THE WRONG WAY to be trained. what the operator was supposed to was immediately stop the ride, deboard the passengers, shut the ride down and inform and engineer... the two new employees were both trained poorly, and thus this was the parks fault.
The fault was two idiot NEW employees reset the safety alarm and overrode it, you hire two new people to do this work and this is what happens- neither one knows what the hell to do
That's probably as close to the Drop Tower of my Dream as it might ever get. Love the fact it start's from the top of the Ride, and I bet riding a Drop Tower with that Restraint System must feel Insane, I can't get any more open than this.
It's even scarier because unlike Tower of Terror, this ride has absolutely NOTHING to hold on to. You only have the seatbelt and that's it. No metal bars between seats, nothing. It really is terryfing.
Certain rides aren't meant for Children. Wish adults would accept this. Some adults act like nothing will happen. I've seen and dealt with children who were traumatized by rides meant for teenagers and adults. They never want to go on rides again after their experience.
Yeah... I remember when I was like 8 years old and went on an "adult" ride that tossed you upside down and every direction, I screamed and yelled for them to stop the ride because I was getting thrown out of the seat as I was slipping between the restraints and the metal bar, the conductor responded by going faster. I have no idea how I managed to hold on and not get tossed out of it but my hands and arms were blueish from gripping so hard.
@megatron2013 I agree. That ride is definitely geared for older teens and young adults. I can't imagine young children would even want to go on a ride like that.😱🙄 It'd be very rare I would think, for a child that young to want to go on such a ride, plus be allowed to!🤔
I came here to see how a 6 year old little girl could die on this ride. Seeing the restraints on this ride, I see why now. My condolences to her family. 💔
@Erre Waser the old guy who designed this ride legit thought that a seat belt is all you needed....he even said something similar to like he wanted it to be like the real thing
Right? Ironically these roller coasters with those restraints have so much inertia it’s literally impossible to fallout when going into a loop. Yet this is a free fall with zero inertia to hold you in.
The news stories say nothing about adults being with her, tho I assume someone was. She was sitting on top of the seat belt. Obviously the ride operators screwed up badly and are liable. I as a parent would never leave it up to anyone else to make sure my child's seat belt was buckled. I would double check it myself, but a kid should not die because of inattentive parents..
@@warrogue1798 very sad situation. The ride attendants probably assume the adult would make sure their child is safely secured and the guardian probably mistakenly assumed she would be safe and that the ride attendants check everything… anyways very sad and I’m sure the adult she was most likely with are dealing with that guilt heavily 🙏🏼… did she fall from the top of the ride?
Cant believe a 6 year old was even tall enough to be on a drop tower type ride let alone a drop tower with only lap straps and no shoulder harness as restraints.
@@arikay8678 yes. She fell as soon as the ride dropped. 110 feet fall. Her father Estifanos was on the ride with her. Her mother Rahel was with their two year old son and not aboard at the time of the accident.
The report says the staff never ensured she was seat-belted in. She was sitting on both belts. So I assumed the ride had lots of passengers at once like most drop rides and the member accidentally overlooked her but to see just a few people at a time and they forgot to ensure the child was strapped in is beyond crazy to me. Also I don’t feel I would let my six year old do a drop ride like this but maybe she was a daring child. Hate that this family experienced such tragedy
I can’t figure out what might’ve happened to that 6 yrs old girl. The only thing that makes sense is the seat belt and safety restraint did not successfully restrain her, and she fell out of the cart. The technician talks about the safety restraint in this vid, but they don’t actually show how it works when your a passenger on the ride. Prayers to that girl and her family. So horrible
The belts were not on her. She was sitting on top of them. The attendants did not check her and ignored the warning safety alarm notifying them. They reset the safety alarm and started the ride. So tragic 😥.
My question is why didn't the guardian/family member(s) riding with her take the time to strap her in themselves firstly, or at least care to check if the restraints were working, especially after the multiple warnings? That is the first consideration I do for my significant other or kids i'm chaperoning on ANY ride in ANY amusement park. Safety starts with YOU!
@@jrRrDsD Very sad & tragic, but preventable accident. May this story help countless others in the future with pre-emptive awareness and safety prevention.
Yeah, that’s what I thought as well. Yes it’s the ride operators job to inspect and make sure people are strapped in safely, but I’m surprised the uncle didn’t bother checking as well. A six year old is small and they should be double-checked to make sure they’re strapped in tight for this kind of ride.
My son and I skipped this ride 2 years ago because he didn't meet the height requirement. I'm still confused as to how a 6 year old was allowed on this.
@0X1HYUKA my daughter got on all the scary rides at knotts she enjoys it BUT this ride I would have said no to because the restraints :/ and also red flag was signing a disclosure I feel bad for the parents they will live with this regret for the rest of their lifes
was a ride operator at a theme park in high school, we were instructed to be very strict on the height requirements for rides because if someone got hurt and we let them in we could be held liable. Kids would be on their toes trying to reach the height bar, and I always said no and got a mouthful from tons of parents.
@0X1HYUKA lmao that’s the wrong approach of we just start restricting ages for rides what about the seniors??? We should be focused on the type of restraint the government regulations allow on drop rides. A seat belt is dangerous for ANY AGE. The conversation should be “when are we requiring over shoulder harnesses?” Not the age of the rider.
@Nikki G lmao what a joke. hand holders or "front pieces" are not needed. The accident happened because the ride operators were not trained sufficiently and allowed the ride to dispatch by bypassing a key safety alarm instead of properly resolving the issue.
This ride doesn't look suitable for a 6 yr old. I would never let my 6 yr old on a ride like this, omg.....my heart bleeds for the family's loss. This poor child was failed on so many levels!!!!
First of all a lap belt is not enough to restrain a 6 year old child from sliding right up though it, or it wasn't fastened properly I think it will end up being the fact either she was too small for the belt to restrain her. If you look at other drop rides such as the big shot in Las Vegas they use a U shaped padded bar the comes down from the top over you there is no way for you to actually slide up out of of the chair. The idea of the ride is to feel weightless for a few seconds you can get that sensation with any restraint system. ruclips.net/video/eyRaBwP3uNM/видео.html Personally I would never take a 6 year old on a ride like this way too extreme for such a young child these types of rides should be 10 and up at least. They need to change the restraint system in that thing.
You will only fall as fast as the chair. The same gravitational force that acts on you is also acting on the chair. The moment the locking mechanism is released both the chair and occupants drop at the same time and subsequently speed. As they fall there's no real danger of floating away. It's only when the car starts to slow down is there a risk. At this point her momentum is "downward" and that's when she slides underneath the seatbelt. During the braking phase (near the bottom) her momentum wasn't stopped by the lap restraint. As the car applies the various brakes, she is too small/thin and slides down and under the seatbelt. She essentially fell to her death. She did not "float" up or "fly away" as you're suggesting. For the over-shoulder harness in the video link you provided, the reason is that particular ride "bounces" you back up. You need something over the shoulder to keep you from being ejected. It's not because of the downward drop, it's because you're being flung back up. If that wasn't a shoulder harness your upward momentum would fling you from the chair. That's not what's happening at The Haunted Mine Drop. She was simply too small and slid underneath the seatbelt. Source: As a structural engineering major, I spent several semesters interning for a company that designed modern day roller coasters.
@@Sometimes_Always The seat has a plastic mold between the legs, so she can't slide under the belt. She would've had to pull her legs out from under the belt, then stand on the seat. Once on the seat, she may have jumped off the seat to exit the ride, where the floor used to be (the floor retracts, right before the ride drops) or was standing on the seat when the ride dropped. Exiting at the bottom of the ride, she would have fallen 10 feet instead of the height of the World Trade Center, so that would not have caused her death. I'm guessing she got scared and attempted to exit the ride just as it dropped and wasn't in the seat at all.
I saw on the news that someone died on this ride and I think it was a small girl so it could be faulty restraints/ someone to small and slipped through
She was sitting on top of her seatbelt instead of being strapped in. The alarm sounded but the operators turned it off and dropped the car anyway. My thoughts are with her poor family.
I agree but I’m sorry are her parents not just as irresponsible I’m pretty sure most parents who go on rides with their children check to make sure they are strapped in how did they not see her not strapped in
@@lilmisspink143 A similar thing happened on a coaster called the Smiler in 2013, where an empty train valleyed and stopped in the middle of the track. The ride stopped, notifying that there was a train on the course, but the ride op ignored it and overrode the system to start it back up. A train full of people smashed into the empty train on the track because of this. All of them were sent to the hospital, and although no one was killed, the people in the front row of the train suffered extensive leg damage. All of this because of a ride ops' carelessness.

Classy real classy male a joke about a ride a child died on! Wow it doesn’t take much to get the jerks going does it? Have some decency a child lost their life for gods sakes!
Reading about the accident and I can’t fathom how a six year old child was allowed on this ride. While an amazing ride concept, that ride operators weren’t properly trained for an attraction of this magnitude, the only question now is how many zeros are going to be on that settlement check now that the coroner has determined the cause of death was a result of park negligence. If the settlement doesn’t bankrupt the park it will severely impact it’s ability to remain open. I just don’t see this ride ever opening up again.
Amazing ride concept no it's not. It's as dumb as a door knob with 100W grease on top just like that water ride that decapitated the little Boy because it had a second hill drop with no way to keep the cars from getting air born. They keep pushing the envelope to get people into these parks and these rides are not safe for anyone to be riding.
Waitttt there’s only a seatbelt holding the rider in??? A seatbelt that wears down after thousands of rides at the insertion point? Smart design. No other drop ride at a major park does this. They all have the over the shoulder restraint. This accident was bound to happen. Condolences to the child’s family 🙏
I doubt the weight of a 6 year old broke the restraint. I think she pulled her legs out from under the lap belts, stood up on the seat, and attempted to exit the ride before it dropped. Then she either fell off the seat when the ride dropped or had jumped off the seat where the floor retracted to allow the ride to drop. I don't think she was seated when she fell.
The literal Mecca of theme parks Disney uses this exact same restraint system. 😂😂😂😂 you cannot blame the park for following ride regulations. You should blame the regulations for being 20 years behind.
@@MF-ty2zn1 Slipping out of this ride's single seatbelt restraint is the biggest danger of any style of "dark ride". Unless the ride driver can visually inspect the passengers one last time before pressing the start button, the driver must make a guess that all passengers are still properly secured. Instead of guessing due to darkness, the ride driver needs a night vision camera to allow for visual inspection that all passengers remain firmly seated and fully secured before pressing that button. If she were standing on the seat or had slipped from under the belt, with a correct camera setup, the driver could have seen the problem and removed her from the ride before starting the ride. In fact, the ride driver should be required to touch _confirm_ on the CCTV screen to confirm the driver has inspected the screen (and the riders) before it unlocks the start button. Ride operators can't rely solely on electronic belt contact confirmation as riders can loosen a belt and "slip out" of their restraint while in the dark. With shoulder harnesses, it's much more difficult to slip out... which is why shoulder harnesses exist and why they should be on this ride... especially because the ride relies on the cover of darkness to increase its scare factor, which hinders the ride driver's view of the passengers. There were way too many safety problems with this ride that led to this outcome.
@@shawnsyfert9620 Yeah, I still do. We still don’t know exactly what happened yet, and one incident occurring at some place in the world doesn’t immediately make that thing or place inherently dangerous. This ride operated for 4 years prior without anything happening, and hopefully when they find out what happened this time they can ensure it won’t happen again. But very sad what happened for sure
That seat belt doesn’t look safe enough for an adult, let alone a 6yr old child 😭💔 poor thing probably slipped out 😭💔 my condolences to her family. I can’t imagine their pain right now 😭😭😭
I read an article that claimed the height requirement for the ride was 46”. I find it hard to believe that a 6 year old was 46”. Yeah, that seat belt looks pretty flimsy and if it’s the only adjustable restraint. It looks like the type of seat belt found on airplanes that can be easily released mid ride by just putting touching the release button or just be broken with extended use. It’s not clear in this video that the stronger, apparently locking restraint is any way adjustable and how much. My guess is both it and the seats are designed for riders at least 46” though. It looks like really inadequate restraint system in general … like you indicate, even for a typical sized adult. I can’t recall ever seeing a drop type ride like this without a shoulder harness nor do I recall ever seeing one that allowed small people to ride. I suspect it was a combination of a poorly designed restraint (I’m curious why shoulder restraint was left out in the design in the first place.) and ride operators not screening height requirements.
The girl, identified Wednesday as Wongel Estifano, suffered “multiple blunt force injuries” on the Haunted Mine Drop ride at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, according to the Garfield County Coroner’s Office. Officials have still not revealed how the girl sustained the injuries or what happened on the ride. After watching this video, she must have slipped out of the seat belt. There is no way this child should have been on this ride.
EXACTLY. and people are on here telling on themselves saying they let their kids ride this sort of thing. Why are you gonna go through the trouble of raising a whole human being and then sign a waiver that literally says you’re putting them on a death trap.

As devastated as those parents must be, it was still pretty stupid and irresponsible that they let a TINY SIX YEAR OLD on a ride that drops into a MINE SHAFT with only a SEATBELT to keep you in the ride, a tiny six year old has a better chance of flying out of it, plus the ride is a lot more suitable for teens and adults. I’m pretty mad too how the workers let a SIX YEAR OLD on a ride like this.
Because there is no age restriction only a height requirement. The ride is no different than Hollywood Tower of Terror when it comes to how tall the ride is. It's tragic that a girl died on the ride but it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with her age. No one knows what happened yet
@@CameronJamesPhillips Agreed - age isn't necessarily the issue. My (now) 6 year old went on tower of terror (or rather guardians of the galaxy) in Disneyland when she was 5 (she's tall for her age), but she was fine (had her hands up the whole time...the little daredevil). I'm sure many under 7 y/o kids have been on these types of rides without incident.
@@wolverinero79 oh all the time young ones have gone on these rides as they're designed to be safe for them. Which just adds to the tragedy of this one incident. But that's awesome.e your little one is already a little daredevil. I haven't been back to Disneyland since they revamped that ride sadly, I'm jonesing to go back though. I went on Tower of Terror pre renos tho and I was already graduated and defs nervous as hell to keep my hands up the first time riding so she's already got more guts than I ever did at that age haha Space Mountain I was so scared to put my hands up for the whole ride and it was the greatest feeling ever when I did.
I wouldn't dream of allowing any child under 13 on this and even at 13 I would be very very uneasy. A 6 year old just wouldn't have the cognitive ability to understand what's going on. They would be terrified. Makes me uneasy to think of this 6 year old last moments on earth . very tragic 😢
I mean yea but it comes down to the lack of over the shoulder harnesses on drop rides. It’s not safe for anyone of any age to think a lap belt will hold you into a 3 ton steel barge dropping over 100ft. We shouldn’t worry about the age because then we start limiting seniors freedoms. Just require over the shoulder and it’s solved. So many folks are thinking too hard on this. Hell they made us start putting over shoulders on roller coasters and it’s mathematically impossible to fall out of a loop due to inertia. There’s no inertia allowing one to be pushed into the seat on these drop rides. Over the shoulder with a seatbelt that locks on the bottom of the shoulder harnesses into the chair and it’s 100% impossible for anyone meeting 46inches height limit to fall out.
The uniqueness of this ride brings a thrill every time I go on it. I've been on drop towers twice as tall as this one and those are so tame now. This one is a one to remember
These seats were made for the width of an adult. -- If she did slip out - then it raises the question - why are small children being allowed to ride thrill rides in an seat designed for the width of an adult?
Idk, it looked like homeboy came up from his seat on that drop too. How horrible. Was there no one next to her either? So, I just rode Mako @ SeaWorld and legit was mind blown that that ride only has a small lap triangle basically.
Her uncle was with her I read in the lawsuit but it happened so fast that he didn’t even notice in the dark until they hit the bottom and he saw she wasn’t in her seat.
I’m shocked more kids haven’t died on this ride tbh. A small child would slip right out of a lap belt given that kind of force! Children should have never been allowed on this ride. Poor baby. 😞
It has happened to a ride near me at Great America in California years ago. Joshua Smurphat 12 years old at the time. I looked it up again. But yeah, the ride goes up and then suddenly drops you. It's a big big drop. The 12 year old fell out of the ride and landed on the concrete. Either he managed to some how slip out of the bar that hold you in or the bar popped up like mechanical thing. it was super sad though.
Its because she was a tall 6 year old ...but in my opinion i never thought height was a good valuation To get on a ride....weight matters just as much...because u can be tall as hell but so skinny and light that you can slip threw ...
I agree but also the ride operator should have min age requirements it could be the parents have no idea how the ride works never been on it they relied on the park to set the age.
The concept of this ride with the backstory is very creepy especially compared to someone actually dying on the ride. It really gives the “haunted” part. Wow, they might as well shut this ride down for good after that I’m so sorry for the family’s loss.
Guys please read this!! First off amazing video thank you for it, looks like an amazing ride love the temperature change. The fault of the accident was entirely due to human error and not the fault of the ride. The retractable seatbelt design they have is the exact one used on tower of terror at Disney, it is very safe. The child was never strapped into the ride. She was sitting on top of the seatbelt (as opposed to buckled in) and the ride alarmed and would not proceed so the safety features of the ride functioned exactly as they should. The ride operators attempted to rectify the situation but a lack of training caused them to not realize what the alarm indicated. This was the result of human error and a lack of training on behalf of the ride operators. It had nothing to do with the ride that is safe and has safety features that functioned. RIP to the child and thoughts to the family ❤️
The fact that there's no shoulder harness on a ride like this would have me RUNNING the opposite direction... Sometimes we make irrational decisions, especially after waiting in a long line for however long... But yea, those lil flimsy seatbelts clearly aren't enough, & it's sad that someone had to die in order for this to be realized. I have no doubts that shoulder harnesses will suddenly be installed on this ride (once the lawsuits are filed), & this "Haunted" Mine Drop ride just might actually be Haunted now :-|
The crazy thing about this drop tower is that you are only a few feet’s away from that wall. Must feel weird to have this wall in front of you while you drop. I guess the feeling is kinda like a falling elevator.
It's pitch black when you drop. The lights come on when the cart is climbing back to the top. Looks like they got a special lights-on ride in the video
The Haunted Mine Drop ride operators did not notice that Estifanos was sitting on her seatbelt before it began, according to Friday's report. When the 120-second ride was over, Estifanos was no longer in the seat. An autopsy identified multiple blunt force injuries to her body.
@@amyhartman6786 That’s not a maybe, they absolutely need to change their safety. Maybe not a shoulder harness, but a safety bar that locks in across their lap should be a minimum. To just wear a manual lap seatbelt like that is crazy irresponsible!

At easy glance I can tell this ride isn’t for children.. you should at least be a certain height and weight to ride this. I can’t believe a 6 year old would be let on and lose her life to a amusement park ride. 😞 The family is in my thoughts and prayers🙏🏼
I see I’m not the only one who found this after reading about that poor little girl 😔 I also personally think 6 is way too young for this. I realize it’s a height requirement thing and not an age thing but still.... just my opinion. Thinking of her and her family ❤️
I thought the same thing when I read the story. I HAD to find out what kind of ride that is for her to be allowed to ride so young. 6 year olds are very small. Most amusement rides have a height requirement. Also, I noticed the safety restraints don't seem like much. It seems like if they aren't tight enough someone could slide under those seatbelts. I watched POV video and I heard someone say they loosened their seatbelt to "get a totally different experience." In any event, it is such a sad story. I pray for the family's healing.
@@FlyGemini79 agreed! And tbh I would have ever let my 6 year old on. Not blaming the parents at all... if it was allowed that’s not their fault. When something is allowed it leads you to believe that it’s safe. But I would have been way too nervous. It’s so sad.
I had to see what this ride was. It looked terrifying. Like, is this the first injury? The scary irony that back in the 80s I was on the Cedar Point Mine Ride roller coaster. It's a mild ride for most but they let me, shy and 12 go on with a girl about 7 who was tall enough. But she was really skinny and her lap belt came undone and the lap bar didn't go low enough to even touch our legs. It's a good thing that I was chubby and was able to hold her in. No one even seemed to care but I doubt that little girl rode another coaster in her life. I did but by the time I hit my 30s and almost flew out of a coaster when the lap bar failed...I even had an over the shoulder that wouldn't fully come down. I was tall and skinny. This was all at Cedar Point on the 90's and early aughts! Not worth death.
@@NickyD yep no doubt! She probably shouldn't even have been able to ride it. Not enough body mass to hold her in that seat belt. Prayers to the family can't imagine what they're going through. Aside from losing their child an accident like this can tear a family apart.
seems like this ride would have a five point harness type of seat belt. Its possible someone could be injured if they leaned forward, or that possibly a child could slip through a belt that only crosses the hip area. Rest in Peace small child, may God receive you.
Sadly, the belts were not on her. She was sitting on them. The attendants didn't check to see if they were on her. Ride started without her being retrained.
It’s sketch as hell, someone passed away on this ride today. Scariest ride in the whole park also ironic the video they play to scare you literally says your about to fall to your death
I know and I want to understand how the hell she died riding it with all the 'safety features' this video describes! This is awfullllllll. The only consolation I have is she is an angel and will rest with God for eternity as the age of sin is 13. This is so upsetting
Prayers to the family who lost their little girl this past weekend! I cannot help but think, this ride looks kind of scary for a 6 year old. Restrictions needs to be more strict.
RIP to the little girl who died on this ride. I have a 7 year old daughter, and it saddens me to read about this. My heart goes out to the grieving family. On the other hand i can't even imagine letting my girl ride this kind of thing until she's at least 12 years old. 6 year olds should be riding merry go rounds and spinning cup rides.
I came to see what this ride was all about also when I read a 6 year old had passed. My 3 year old granddaughter is pretty brave but even if she was 6 we would not let her do this kind of drop ride. With grandpa around he isn't going to let her get any braver than she already is--it's hard on his heart... I am a big guy and rode the El Loco at the Circus Circus & of course I was locked into place but I could feel the gravity that could pull me right out of the ride if I wasn't held in securely. These rides have gotten more and more intense as the years go by. I don't know what happened with this young child and the ride and we probably never will or want to but, my sympathy goes out to the family and I hope these amusement parks really evaluate their age/size limit for the rides. Rick/North Las Vegas, NV
This is so sad, poor little girl. 911 call says she was at the bottom of the shaft. I have a 6yr old boy and he’s seems TINY to be riding that ride. I would never even consider letting him ride anything like that. We did parasailing this summer and I was so paranoid even though he had all kinds of restraints on his arms and legs. RIP baby girl.
In my opinion a 6 yr old should never had been allowed on a 110 ft drop ride. I also came on this to see how a 6 year old could have died on this ride. It appears the the safety and security on keeping a person strapped in is not enough for a young child. My heart goes out to the family that lost their child, their mistake for allowing her on it became a tragic they are going to have to live with the rest of theirs lives. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but mistakes, actions and accidents cause people their lives and people need to think before allowing and doing certain things. RIP
Like others I had to check this out to see how a little 6 year old could die on this. If she was actually riding this ride, it's very evident on how this could happen. So, so tragic. I still don't know how a parent would let their kid on this though.
Ride operators at a Colorado amusement park failed to realize a 6-year-old was not properly buckled into her seat before she fell 110 feet to her death from the Haunted Mine Drop attraction, state officials said.
Wow that looks absolutely amazing. Believe it or not but I don't usually like drop towers too much, yet I would absolutely ride this one. It looks like such fun!
When I went on the tower of terror in Disneyland years back they also didn’t have those kind of restraints and not once did I feel unsafe honestly. There was a kid behind us a little younger than this little girl. I was shocked the parents would allow it but yeah it happens. It might have been defective or maybe they never strapped her? Either way it’s so awful my heart hurts just thinking about what she felt and for the parents.
My guess is she got scared when the floor opened before the drop, attempted to get off, unbuckled her secondary restraint. The Primary was too loose, I still don't understand how she slipped out if that's the case, the molded seat would hold anyone with two legs in.
I went on this 2 years ago when out in Colorado. It was super tight on my lap! I really, really think you DEF. could be right about her getting scared and taking something off beforehand..
I don't know why anybody would let their kid ride this ride or there is an age limit on this ride.. my granddaughter is almost 6 years old I would never let her ride this ride.. got to use a little common sense
Surprised this ride doesn't have the safety mechanism that comes down over your shoulders. Every drop ride I've been on has one. A single seat belt across your lap seems a little risky.
Reminds me of Tower of Terror when I was about eight. They only had a bar back then that went over everyone on a bench seat. My parents were on either side of me and when we dropped, I almost flew out of my seat! Luckily, I had good reaction time and held right to the bar. My parents had to put their legs over mine during the following drops to keep me from flying out. I pray for that girl and her family that died on this ride. I’m just not sure that a six year old should be on a ride like this one.
Can't even imagine the terror that little girl was feeling falling to her death. How would you allow a ride to continue KNOWING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG?? I can't believe they are going to continue with this ride being operational. Normally, when a tragic accident happens, that ride is closed down for respect. I truly hope the family gets justice. REST IN PEACE 🙏
Should never be able to override a safety alarm

Right?!?!? Come on
Even if its false, they still shouldn’t bypass it until they actually check on it.
So sad that now it’s closed because of negligence. Was really a great ride.

I came here thinking how could a little girl get killed on some cup and saucer ride. Is this really a kids ride? RIP little one.
For those wondering about the girl who died it was determined to be human error and no mechanical issue at all. The rides safety systems tried to notify the workers but they overrode those systems without double checking and the girl fell out while sitting on top of her buckle.
The parents should’ve buckled her in. You can’t rely on the high school doofus’ running the ride.

it's perfectly safe to ride, so long as you meet the height requirements. the fail safe light went on, and somehow the operator was taught on how to override it and continue with dispatch. this is THE WRONG WAY to be trained. what the operator was supposed to was immediately stop the ride, deboard the passengers, shut the ride down and inform and engineer... the two new employees were both trained poorly, and thus this was the parks fault.
The fault was two idiot NEW employees reset the safety alarm and overrode it, you hire two new people to do this work and this is what happens- neither one knows what the hell to do

Some adults will do anything to appease their kids. Parents needs to say no more often
Yeah... I remember when I was like 8 years old and went on an "adult" ride that tossed you upside down and every direction, I screamed and yelled for them to stop the ride because I was getting thrown out of the seat as I was slipping between the restraints and the metal bar, the conductor responded by going faster. The technician talks about the safety restraint in this vid, but they don’t actually show how it works when your a passenger on the ride. Prayers to that girl and her family. So horrible
looks like it's only a lap belt, nothing between your legs or around your arms to prevent you from slipping under it.
should have a lap bar a seatbelt only for a drop tower is pretty stupid actually could wind up being negelnice or even manslaughter
The belts were not on her. She was sitting on top of them. The attendants did not check her and ignored the warning safety alarm notifying them. They reset the safety alarm and started the ride. So tragic 😥.
Wow. The access you were given for the interview and the inside shots really make this video.

I'm still confused as to how a 6 year old was allowed on this.

was a ride operator at a theme park in high school, we were instructed to be very strict on the height requirements for rides because if someone got hurt and we let them in we could be held liable.
Having worked in the park business for 12 years I cannot believe a ride such as this would not have a better rider restraint than a seat belt!
its really all that's necessary. as long as everything is in place correctly there should be no issues
@@JojiUrHomie wake up, there's no hand holding or front piece

its a indoor drop tower most parks have drop towers and 6 year olds ride them problem here is the park simply didnt have lapbars on it which is stupid
a 6 year old can ride drop towers this park simply should have had a lapbar which all drop towers in the country have them bc this one
Right i was thinking that definitely isn't secure enough

I guess you've never been on tower of terror at dhs or dl.
@@Sometimes_Always but first responders say she fell out of the ride.

I noticed the Help Wanted sign on the wall at the very beginning of video.
So , I wonder how diligent they was with training or hiring ?
It may actually be a true haunted ride now! Heartbreaking‼️💔 RIP little angel 👼🏼
Ever ride tower of terror? Just a seat belt..
It's 2.5 seconds don't think so
The literal Mecca of theme parks Disney uses this exact same restraint system.

@@dilldozar296 it was safe without incident for 4 years and is the same type of harness used on other drop rides.
Alton Towers, take note - THAT is how you pull off an underground drop tower.
Accurate as hell
Was the 6 year old tall enough to even be on this ride? The only thing I can think of was she came out of her seat when it dropped.
RIP little one....
Idk, it looked like homeboy came up from his seat on that drop too. How horrible. Was there no one next to her either? So, I just rode Mako @ SeaWorld and legit was mind blown that that ride only has a small lap triangle basically.
46 in height requirement. My 6yo is almost 50 inches so she was likely tall enough
Why would someone even put a 6 year old on this ride? RIP sweetie pie!
Yeah I think they’ll have to change the name at the very least if it ever reopens.
I like this video. And how it is played out as if it was a documentary!
I can’t believe someone died on this today.
This ride I think is not suitable for 6 years old . REST IN peace Little Angel
actually there are plenty of drop towers 6 year olds can ride this park just did operate it satfely peroid should have lapbars not just a seltbelt
I have no doubts that shoulder harnesses will suddenly be installed on this ride (once the lawsuits are filed), & this "Haunted" Mine Drop ride just might actually be Haunted now :-|
This comment was prophetic
She wasn’t strapped in at all. They forgot to strap her. No seatbelt at all. New employees.
@@DoswarePictures Yes, because that was the first drop ride ever...
Exactly
The Haunted Mine Drop ride operators did not notice that Estifanos was sitting on her seatbelt before it began, according to Friday's report. When the 120-second ride was over, Estifanos was no longer in the seat. An autopsy identified multiple blunt force injuries to her body.
@Julissa C LAWSUITS
This is only drop tower i seen with no shoulder harness of any type. maybe they need to change restraints or make it adult size riders only.
@@amyhartman6786 That’s not a maybe, they absolutely need to change their safety. Maybe not a shoulder harness, but a safety bar that locks in across their lap should be a minimum. To just wear a manual lap seatbelt like that is crazy irresponsible!
@@mrhoffman182 they do have a safety bar. Did you not watch the video?
I came here to see the ride for myself where a 6 year old lost her Life. After seeing it? I’m in ABSOLUTE Shock how NO ONE said, this is NOT a good idea for a 6 year old. SIX! 🥺
Exactly why I came here too, I wanted to see what it actually looks like!! So very sad for that family!!
Me too, maybe 15 but not 6 years old.
Same I don’t understand how they allowed this to happen poor baby I would never allow my 13 year old on a ride as this let alone a 7 year old omg 😱 can’t believe this it breaks my heart just imagining how she must have felt 💔
@@patthetrucker5670 it makes me wonder what went wrong and if the park is liable for what happened etc? Seeing the straps and things I can’t understand how that didn’t hold her in, unless she was just to tiny and slipped out!! My daughter rode the one at Eliches at 7 and to see this it makes me thankful something didn’t happen to her!!!
@@farba7713 It's says everyone signs a waiver. I thinking she slipped out.
Hey Taylor, may I use this footage in a video respectfully covering the accident? I will credit coaster studios.
At easy glance I can tell this ride isn’t for children.. you should at least be a certain height and weight to ride this. I can’t believe a 6 year old would be let on and lose her life to a amusement park ride. 😞
The family is in my thoughts and prayers🙏🏼
There is a height requirement. 4 feet.
@@CameronJamesPhillips And disney's version (guardians of the galaxy) is just 3'4" AKA 40 inches.
@@CameronJamesPhillips but a 6 year old can be so skinny and slip right out of that terrible "safety belt" during the drop.
@@CameronJamesPhillips yea but most 6 year olds weigh not even 60 lbs.
@@notdon497 that wasnt a safetly belt that was a car seatbelt which even a adult could have fell on this should have had a lapbar
I see I’m not the only one who found this after reading about that poor little girl 😔
I also personally think 6 is way too young for this. I realize it’s a height requirement thing and not an age thing but still.... just my opinion. Thinking of her and her family ❤️
I 100% agree
Should be a height, age AND weight requirement. Some kids are small for their age
I would never let my 6 year old ride this. Just scary. RIP to that child.
Yeah, my gut said no. Six is too small.
Anyone know what caused her death ? Did she fall out or did the ride malfunction? No liability for them either you had to sign a waiver to ride it.
Poor baby 🥺 My heart breaks to think about how scared they must have been.
@@ADSUPINTHIS she fell out only seltbelts this park has some serious explaining to do a drop tower with a 100 foot drop shouls have a lap bar
Awesome angles that I haven't seen in any other footage. It's the next coolest thing to riding it
Thank you so much! The park was fantastic to work with and really let me go nuts with filming this attraction.

It’s sketch as hell, someone passed away on this ride today. Scariest ride in the whole park also ironic the video they play to scare you literally says your about to fall to your death
Yeah I sort of agree, although I would say the swing ride is scarier, but it just depends on people’s specific fears.
Would love to see more videos like this. Love the style.
I can’t believe a 6 year old little girl was allowed on this ride. 😞 Poor baby.
I know and I want to understand how the hell she died riding it with all the 'safety features' this video describes! This is awfullllllll. The only consolation I have is she is an angel and will rest with God for eternity as the age of sin is 13. This is so upsetting
JUST SICKENING !!
RIP to the sweet little girl that passed away on this ride.
Prayers to the family who lost their little girl this past weekend! I cannot help but think, this ride looks kind of scary for a 6 year old. Restrictions needs to be more strict.
Those prayers really saved her life 🤡
No they don’t, research what happened
My stomach churns at the thought of the scene & aftermath. Poor baby. RIP 💔
I'm here to see what bad judgement caused the death of this poor child. I pray no parent has to experience this again! ( so very sad)
Was curious when I saw the news report. That poor sweet child. 6 years old is too young for this kind of ride. Rip, condolences to the family.
Anyone else from the UK loving seeing Wicker Man featured =P
RIP to the little girl who died on this ride. I have a 7 year old daughter, and it saddens me to read about this. My heart goes out to the grieving family. On the other hand i can't even imagine letting my girl ride this kind of thing until she's at least 12 years old. 6 year olds should be riding merry go rounds and spinning cup rides.
All things considered, I think I am going to pass on this ride.
Went on this ride over the summer and when I got off my mom said I looked like I just saw a ghost
Now that ride is insane! Must be awesome to ride... By the way great video!👍
Guessing the 6 year old wasn’t strapped in
1:49 It didn't save poor Wongel Estifano though!!! May her sweet little soul RIP... just looking at this thing scares the hell outta me!
Rick/North Las Vegas, NV
its safe for a 6 year old its the park fault for having no lapbar like they should have had
Cool. Not a big fan of drop towers, but I might try this. I’m going to Fiesta Texas tomorrow btw.

Rode this ride on opening day, all I can say is it was absolutely amazing and thrilling
Great footage! This thing looks insane
I think a lot of parents who are paranoid are actually keeping our children safe.
How did you find a 911 call record for this?
I came here to see what the ride was, this would have been absolutely terrifying to fall so far in a place like that..poor girl😔😢
Same here and I 100% agree
Ride operators at a Colorado amusement park failed to realize a 6-year-old was not properly buckled into her seat before she fell 110 feet to her death from the Haunted Mine Drop attraction, state officials said.

How is it allowed to have no restraints over your shoulders ?
Cause you don't need one dummy.....
@@tm-py6qj clearly it’s needed if a kid fell out dummy
Allowed
@@ar5624 almost all of the rides nowadays have no OTSR's... (Over the shoulder restrains) edit: whoops ment the other person lol
What about the London dungeons drop tower I know it’s small but technically still and underground drop tower

I don't know why anybody would let their kid ride this ride or there is an age limit on this ride.. my granddaughter is almost 6 years old I would never let her ride this ride.. got to use a little common sense
Probably because their daughter wanted to go on the ride and she was the right height for it
This drop is insane. I was still shaking 10 mins after I got off.
Surprised this ride doesn't have the safety mechanism that comes down over your shoulders. Every drop ride I've been on has one. A single seat belt across your lap seems a little risky.
Disney's tower terror does just fine with only a seatbelt
There are plenty of rides across the world without an over the shoulder restraint. This is not the only one like this.
@@CoasterStudios I'm aware that they exist. It just doesn't seem as safe.
She could've still slipped out.
Just found out today they are investigating whether or not the lack of a shoulder harness played a roll in the 6 year olds death.
Better change the name cuz now this thing is really haunted
I love this thing it's my favorite flat ride and I've ridden Falcons Fury lol
Grand opening! Grand closing!
Now it's really haunted.
coming back here after the accident, very sad and i was watching inside edition and they included the clip of you in it. prayers to her family 💔
How was this ride ever approved without having an actual padded safety vest like the ones you see at Six Flags? Just a seatbelt??? OMG.
Tower of terror at Disney has just a seatbelt too. It was an operator error, not the design of the ride.
