Cilla always appeared down to earth on screen, but in reality she was not the easiest person to work with at all. She had a reputation at LWT as a dragon.
@BrisbaneBoy86 also had a rep in panto. She would gather the staff together dressers etc. and threaten them with the sack if they messed her about. Sadly the nicer a lot of celebs were on screen the more callous they were off stage. I still love what she brought to the front of the screen though.
She was quite the opposite of how you describe her.

Irene Handl was exceedingly wealthy through family money and was a terrible snob you know. Very like Cilla actually. Don’t be taken in by their screen personas. And before anybody says this, I do happen to know.
