Lol I have a little Potter 19 and you steer out of a dock like how I do. All over the cockpit trying to view things with the tiller in your hand. I love it!
I survived a horrible period in my life and then said “fuck it , I’m moving to Honolulu”. Best choice I ever made. My apartment looked at diamond head. Spending years on Oahu recovering psychologically was amazing. Glad you are experiencing it
Me right now planning to move there and coming across your comment 🙏 is the flood that bad as the news is saying or some areas thanks! I don’t care for that -_- I just hope the damage isn’t bad such a beautiful town and people.
@@SeattleLifeguard living in Hawaii is all about the amount of resources you have. I was fortunate in so far as I didn’t have to work . I could leave the islands whenever I wanted and I did a lot.
Congrats on surmounting your latest challenge I never doubted your abilities well done !!!. Followed your crossing to Hawaii (Predict Wind) your ability to confront that situation head-on and turn it into a success speaks to your quality as a person and sailor.
Between you and Sam over on the other side of the world I’m humbled. You probably won’t be winning any races but there is a chance you’re in better shape then when you left the mainland. Sail on!
Plan a menu. There are many delicious meals that are simple. Cut up your veggies before shoving off. Do as much prep work ahead of time as you can. Spent some time in Kailua/Lanikai a long time ago, just beautiful. Enjoy!
Dudes living his best life ! Just found you and I’m sorry about your wife but looks like your making the best of it ! When one door closes another opens best of luck and best wishes from a cold snowy day Alberta Canada
man, I don't know if anyone has mentioned, but when you were talking about your dish for the evenings meal, i wonder if anyone noticed the amazing colors of the sky behind you. super sick. loved Waikiki. She did not disappoint! great anchor my friend!!! \m/
Oh hell Master Captain James, just get a little stove top oven. Takes a bit to get used to but bread and like prime rib is no problem once you get the hang of it. Keep a meat thermometer about and and that it is fairly well it.
Did you put up any day shapes while at anchor? What lights do you show at night while at anchor? Not sure what those things might be or even required on your size of boat.
There is a second point to starboard, it is an abandoned saltwater pool stadium. The intersecting points and anywhere within 200 meters is safe anchorage.
You need to address "why" no tow. It seems it is something (insurance) you paid for and a matter of safety. It blows my mind that your request for a tow was declined!
@@SailorJames Thank you for asking all my newbie questions. I am in the process of looking for a boat to eventually do a California to Hawaii solo sail.
hello from Russia, thank you for the video! people like you inspire us a lot!

So incredibly happy and proud for you. Cruise the island and clear your mind brother.

Beautiful video -well shot. Very calm for Waikiki Looking forward to the your sail around the island.
The "A" frame is St. Augistines Catholic church.

Living the dream.. enjoy my friend, you deserve it.
It's hard to believe you would be nervous 1 mile offshore after fixing a rudder in the middle of the pacific, very impressive.
Well knowing how unreliable the towing service is in Hawaii makes things kinda stressful around all the reefs
Happy for ya Man ... Livin the Dream !
God bless you and may you experience the life you desire.
Glad you get to enjoy your work and efforts.
Congrats on the accomplishment!! Enjoy!
Incredible trip!! Great video of you crossing the pacific, alone! Your a beast!! Keep up the content!
Awesome Bud- Appreciate the vids!

Yup, best wishes to James. Great video on the Jury Rigged Rudder Repair. Been subscribed for awhile.... from Calgary, Alberta.
Thanks for sharing brother!

It was a great shot...I noticed.

Great video as usual!

Kind of suprising there isn't a thousand other boats at the Anchorage. An oven would be a must have for me. But they do use a lot of fuel.
Could you have used your rocker stopper as a backup for the drogue steering? Or not enough resistance?
What's the virus policy, quarantine on sailboat or how does it work. I've read Hawaii has a strict policy..nice job on the passage by the way...
I had zero quarantine because I arrived by boat (32d days at sea) and am fully vaccinated.
Your lucky to be able to do that
Is the outboard on the stern rail a new addition?
I have been to Honolulu, nice but too crowded... I love Maui, I guess is more your style as well.
Yeah Maui is nice and country, this is what I loved about the westside of Oahu, totally different vibe and very beautiful
I ate for utility for 4 months on my sailboat, that was before my wife hopped on board 😆
Did you put up any day shapes while at anchor? What lights do you show at night while at anchor? Not sure what those things might be or even required on your size of boat.
No day shapes but I have a brand new very bright anchor light
you need buy little rubber boat keep it end of your big boat and go to land with that cool places spend time
Next time at a dock with shore power go to a Walmart and get a convection air fry oven black and decker 59 bucks. Use it when you can. SV SEA ROSE
Pretty❤
What's the slip situation over there?
How can you use the single building ashore without another transit point unless by « rangefinder » you mean something else ?
You drive towards the A frame until you hit 20ft of water, very simple.
There is a second point to starboard, it is an abandoned saltwater pool stadium. The intersecting points and anywhere within 200 meters is safe anchorage.
@@SailorJames Thanks for the explanation
Lookin' like Davy Jones.
How much parking cost per night ?
Dude are you kidding me? You dont need an oven to make amazing food..
You need to address "why" no tow. It seems it is something (insurance) you paid for and a matter of safety. It blows my mind that your request for a tow was declined!
There is only 1 tow boat in Hawaii and if he doesn’t answer his phone, you don’t get towed.
