Hi Doug, I wish there was at least one English person who would do a video of how to clean our version. Not only do we have two less functions on ours, but we have a big black grill in front of the top element that is screwed into place with a very strange screw, that I personally have never seen before. So i certainly dont have a screw driver for it.

Not as yet, what I decided to do, to try to keep the lid fan and element cleaner, was buy a splatter guard. This fits to the lid of the speedi, with magnets and can be bought from Amazon. and can be removed, washed, then replaced. It seems to be working.

The screws are security torx threaded screws. The 4 you can see is all that you need to remove the black cover. Few screws to nudge the element out the way and then you’re free to wipe around the area

After completion of any cooking, I immediately turn the device button to off and then unplug it. Wait a few minutes and wipe it over the inside top with a soft cleaning cloth which is barely moistened with water. Then it always looks great and rarely needs a steamed cleaning. Also, this decreases any odors that remain from a previously cooked meal because no food gets baked or burned on the coils or fan.

EASY-- put water with a little vinegar in the bottom and set it to STEAM for several minutes-- adn it'll come right off clean as a WHISTLE.. I use to do my full oven the same way.

Perfect cleaning. Mine wasn’t too bad because I’m new to using. However, last meal was pot roast which was Devine. But the heating element area smelled like beef. I wiped it down but didn’t work. This method has now left it with a faint smell if you get right into burner. Thanks.

The cover is easy to remove via 4 screws, and easy to put back on (can only go in one way). Otherwise a soft bristle toothbrush will help.

This is perplexing - I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 and I got my Speedi last week. My Speedi has a black metal sort of guard over the element so it makes wiping impossible. I'm reluctant to undo the 4 screws holding it in place in case it invalidates the warranty.
I've scoured the booklet and all the diagrams don't show the guard, but says 'illustrations may differ from actual product' etc. It's a bit of a pain not being able to get at the bit that's likely to get dirtiest. The 15-in-1 Smartlid is like that too.
Lovely and very useful videos - thank you.

      @ameliarannestiggins2345 Год назад +1

@COOKINGWITHDOUG absolutely right. You never know, the guard may act as an anti splatter thing, but I doubt it.
      No matter.
Love your videos and all the best from the UK 🇬🇧

Hi AmeliaranneStiggins, I also have a UK Ninja Speedi as well and that too has (had) a black metal cover/grate protecting the element and fan. There is no mention anywhere in the instruction manual about this cover even online, I do personally think this mental cover is only over the heating element for health and safety reasons, then again why would any sensible adult who is using an air fryer want to touch the element anyway while it's in use, you just wouldn't. So with all this in mind and to make it easier for me to clean my heating element on my Ninja Speedi i actually went ahead and removed the metal grate/cover. I can confirm that the grate/cover it is only held in place by four simple philips screws and is not connected to the element or any electric part on the appliance, I used a simple cross-head philips screw driver to undo the cover screws which are not tight. I did however keep the cover/grate rather then discard it for the future. rather the having four screw holes where the cover was i screwed them back in place but only as tight as they were held on. If i have invalidated the warranty on my Ninja Speedi, so be it. If you are all thinking of now following my advice here to remove your metal cover/grate over your heating element on your Ninja Speedi please only remove it with the appliance not in use and unplugged from the electric socket.

@Dean Hall I've just seen a Speedi advert on the TV, and they have the element cover too.
I think that when it comes to a deep clean I'll remove the cover too.
      Thank you.

FYI I tried to unscrew the burner so I could clean behind it. I thought it would pull out like a stove burner. It is hardwired so it doesn't pull out. BUT if you unscrew the screws, it drops down enough so you will be able to get your hand behind it and clean it inside a lot better. I then re-screwed it in place and it works perfectly and is much cleaner.

Mine has a grill on it stopping me from touching the heating element and I don't have the right screw driver to take the grill off and it needs to be cleaned asap as the food overflew and is covering the heating element

Great tutorial Doug. I noticed a while ago, that your machines in the States do not have a cover over the cooking element in the lid. I live in England and mine has a cover and also as a point of interest, the UK ones also have two less programmes too. Love your cooking, sadly certain things arent always available here to completely re create your tasty dishes. Take care :)

I bought one and returned because the green paint on the heating element came off. At 4:50 in the video, you can clearly see that the paint is gone. What does the company say about this?
