When I first heard "Scratchcard Lanyard", I couldn't believe my ears. Such a unique sound. Dry Cleaning are one of the most exciting new bands in ages, and they seem like genuinely nice people too.
I mean... the band IS exciting, and they execute so very well, but they fit very cleanly in the uk the post-punk tradition, and would sound very familiar to anyone into bands like au pairs, the fall, or life without buildings. I don't think it's uniqueness that makes them great

Cheryl's reaction to "Atrophy" by The Antlers many years ago endeared her to me for life. You can tell she's not just a journalist or host, she loves the music like we love the music.
She loves everything and always talks through a smile. She's really an airhead with bus pass.

'Her Hippo', such a powerful song. Just like Cheryl, I can't get enough.
They're such a unique band, I snapped to attention when I first heard them. I love the micro observations such as "bakers only beyond this point". I've had the pleasure of seeing (and of course hearing) them live twice, in 2022 on a warm Glastonbury afternoon where I managed to bounce around a Somerset bouncy ball to Scratchyard Lanyard up at The Park, and then 2023 at a rain soaked Blue Dot near Manchester.
Dude can't read music and doesn't know chords but is writing the licks that will define the year in rock and roll. As a 40 year old this band is making me nostalgic for my teens. Cheryl is amazing as usual.
That blew me away. He's so beyond amazing in Strong Feelings.
Thank you Cheryl and KEXP you obviously love Dry Cleaning as much as we do in the UK. In awe of your guys. I can't wait to see you live.

Can't hear the sonic youth thing myself but have heard others say it. I'd say they are a mixture of many bands, Arab Strap, Prolapse, Pulp, Husker Du are what come to mind for me. It's all good though 😉

This is a trip. I went into the video expecting some sort of bedroom pop based on the background and then I saw the SG guitar and was like huh? Then I heard the music and I was like boom! I mean this was so good.
This bassist is a metronome! Awesome.
This lady has the ideal delivery for doing the speaking clock, or getting stuck in a lift with.

I love everything I've heard from Dry Cleaning so far, and can understand what they mean by the music growing. I think their fan base would grow slowly over time too, as more people hear these songs for example. they'll love them too, so they are a slow growing band perhaps. As an Irish person I particularly find Flo's English accent to be an interesting, modern style of vocals.
Love Cheryl's interview style. So looking forward to DC's show at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn. Disturbed Furniture would be so honored to open. The SG sounds incredible, and in tune, which can be rare. Don't be silly! Flo's voice floats like a ghost in a dark cave.
Great band, I love them! A couple more "lasts" ... Dry Cleaning were the last live band I saw (in March 2020 but what a good one to go out on) and their record New Long Leg was the last one I played, it hasn't been off my turntable since it arrived at the weekend. More power to your elbow Dry Cleaning, you're so refreshing. Thanks to Cheryl & KEXP too.

wow they live in the south London, I used to live in Canada water. I feel familiar to them. They reminds me of The Jesus Lizard other than Sonic Youth. The guitarist might be heavily influenced. I was an art student in London but The vocalist and The guitarist graduated from Royal Academy Arts, which is super amazing, they must be super creative.
I need to move back to london...

Vocals, bass, a lot seems borrowed from Zenzile, including Jamika AJALON. A French band formed in 1996. But I'm not sure because they invited some other Female singers: Loredana LANCIANO, Carole GOLA. It might be her?

Sounds alot better than the last performance. My guess is that this mix is more forgiving compared to the last one. Any mixers here who knows how this can be?

One of those bands I don't understand how people are hyped about it. To me it's just boring murmuring, stuff to doze off to, then turning it off because it prevents you to have a proper sleep.
