As I understand it any device that supports the camera, at least in Churchill's day, was referred to as "the camera platform." BTW I met Ted on the set of The Right Stuff. Stellar guy.
I was lucky enough to be an extra on Batman Begins in 2005 and was surprised to see Steadicam operators still using those green CRTs on their rigs despite LCD monitors becoming more prevalent.
I think ARRI even built a special film magazine that's spring-loaded and would prevent the camera from unbalancing mid-shot. Great video and a lot of fun to watch :)
I knew there was something wrong with your technique, you don't have a pipe, that is so sub standard of you. If your clients see this I'm sure they will insist upon it now. I had seen this before when searching for videos on the subject, I'd forgotten the humour in it, he must have been great to work with.
For someone watching pioneering stuff for the first time -- YT recommended your video when I searched for Panaglide and I gave it a try, "Seeing someone young reacting to it must be interesting" -- the way you talk and react makes it look silly and uninteresting. I had to stop a third way in. I don't know if it's just how you are or if you were really finding it silly and uninteresting. Man, you are watching what made what you have today possible. Well, I'm not a professional in the area and will probably never watch anything from you again, but if you ever make another reaction video about the early days of a technology, pick a day you are feeling enthusiastic, and talk about it trying to see it from the point-of-view of that time. Nearly everything from the past we talk about from today's perspective will sound and look silly or funny or bad or terrible. It's unfair, unless it's a video with that purpose (ridicule the past).

I don't know that one. I have seen the sleds that have a motorized top sled that counteract it.

Hahaha, it's a cine-pipe so I can't afford it. 10x the price of a normal pipe 😁
He does seem like a lot of fun. I did some research on him for this video and ran into a bunch of stuff where he was goofing around.
@@SteadiRed Haha, great riposte.
@@SteadiRed It's 6 in the morning in LA, why aren't you asleep. :O
