Lyoto Machida explained his side of the fight at @jaxxonpodcast
Jon Jones' breakdown is taken from the UFC's channel.
One of the sickest submissions.

He loves distributing pain, now he’s somewhat more chill but back then he was a beast unleashed.
@@theghostreckon316tbf it was beautiful 😂😂😂😂 like pro fight ended by standing choke
Adapting through the whole fight is one of the best skills if not the most important
Jon Jones is my favorite fighter but I have a huge respect for Lyoto too. What a warrior, refused to tap. This is a great fight from all angles.
Lyoto had been previously weakened by a brutal ground and pound that caused a huge cut on his forehead. The Karate master was very much wobbled.
Had Lyoto ever in his career decided that he needed to learn either wrestling or BJJ. It seems like he relys only on strikes
That elbow was VICIOUS
@@YamamotoKazuoHe’s a bjj black belt bro, don’t know where he got it from though tbh
@@YamamotoKazuo Lyoto has every kick he needs to mix it up. However karate is also about timing a lot. A good punch on the chin can be all one needs. However Lyoto should be able t do ? kciks. or spinning techniques
@@sonnafenix Lyoto? Where did you read that?
Lyoto's time in the UFC was my favorite
He was definitely a fun fighter to watch
Machida was frustrating af to fight, but Shogun figured him out well before Jones did. The Jones era at LHW was not even fair. He's so big and talented, he could big brother almost anyone, but Shogun and Machida were the types of champs l liked because they were so sharp, yet never had a distinct size or power advantage.
@@DukeflyhawkerLyoto is a natural MW, he's very undersized in LHW. It's crazy to think this guy has beaten Coutoure, Rashad, Belfort who are so obviously bigger than him
@@aaronaaron5861 top level karate is very underrated in MMA (Machida). That and Judo. Guys who excel in those areas are always exciting because most everyone else overlooks in favour of muay thai, bjj and wrestling
badass interview
Front headlock was so wild. Just the strength you need to do something like that is truly impressive. It certainly helps that Lyoto was already hurt before getting into that position but still, absolutely wild way to end a fight.
it’s really easy even for a relatively weak person to apply pressure on a choke with proper technique, he would have his whole leg drive, his core bracing him and the leverage of his weight properly applied which is one of the first things you learn in grappling, while being heavier and bigger was definitely not that exerting of his capability.
Not to mention the ped
My 11 year old son gets me in a front headlock when we are messing around. He crushed my throat pretty good last week. I waited too long to tap. It's still sore 5 days later 😂
Huh? What are you on about, it's got almost nothing to do with strength, it's technique
@@JKTHESAUCYONEyea so don’t
You cut the clip like two seconds too short. Lyoto dropping on the canvas is iconic.
Scary iconic…
legendary fight
You can't make mistakes against Jon Jones his fight IQ is second to none
the advice to win this fight came from his corner
First is dj sec is jj in fighting iq
high IQ must mean you beat your wife
Jones ability to solve problems in real time, and make constant adjustments as needed, is second-to-none in combat sports history. That is pure fight IQ, in its purest form. His physical attributes are sensational for a light-heavyweight, but it's his mental ability to use his attributes in so many creative ways that made him impossible to beat at 205.
It came from his corner
Plus steroids helps a lot
Wrong. I’ve seen fighters with better IQs who didn’t need their corner to solve the puzzle of a difficult opponent for them. In boxing Salvador Sanchez was a master at making adjustments during the course of a bout and setting traps to manipulate his opponents into making costly mistakes. And as far as MMA goes, Anderson Silva and GSP were elite high IQ champions in their primes.
I remember when Nike did a commercial of that fight. It was amazing
Mike Goldberg?
@matthillfromcollege4109 oops, meant to put "Nike" I'll edit that now
@@lightinferno4490 I’ll look that up!
One of the nastiest submissions ever 😱🫢🫡😎
He dropped him like an old rag-doll… and just walked off!
I didn’t think Lyoto was gonna breathe again. 😳🫣
I love em both...lyoto's a true badass as well
"i felt like i could have broken his neck" good to know john
Respect ro lyoto standing toe to toe for 1 round and landing punches on jones...
Jon Bone Jones 🐐 👑 💯
This fight also shows Jon's fight IQ. His coach gave him great advice, but he took a few minutes in the fight to set it up. Most fighters would go out and attempt the fake kick immediately. He's a brilliant fighter.
that elbow to his forhead took ALOT of of Lyoto..you can tell once he got up it drained him alot
Machida did Kick his ass the first round
One of the best fights I can recall. What Jones did was impressive. I think Machida could have won against anyone that day but Jon
I always will tell you Lyoto is the best, he is the goat, he has it all like JBJ say he is educated fighter, and he just start to learn. Lyoto for ever!!!!!
I'm so glad Lyoto won that Fight....because he is the GOAT
This shows how much Jones is talented.
JJ is just a very tough guy.Remember he is the only one who beat Shogun that bad
That fight stik hurts me a lot.
Life is not always fair,or at least that's what it seems x-7.
I watched every interview
This guy is basically half the size of jone jones inside the octagon, it seemed like jone was bullying a kid.
That fight reminded me of the semi-final in Bloodsport where the Wushu fighter with gold pants landed some good shots on Chong Li early on only for the tables to turn for him in a bad way.
This dude's fight IQ is off the charts.
machida would rather go to sleep than tap out, true legend
Almost tapped out permanently!
It was honestly the most devastating performance I’ve ever witnessed
Well ya machida could control the distance but doing that took a lot of energy and if I remember correctly he slowed down which led to a take down which drained more energy and then he was flat footed trying to explode into things which allowed Jon to connect. In summary he did well until he didn’t.
The Dragon one of the best of all time tho
When JJ let him go, he went splat like dropping a ice cream sandwich on the sidewalk 😂
Lobotomy still a warrior. Notice , he wouldn't tap even tho he knew he was locked in a choke
I think Lyoto gave Jon the toughest fight even though he lost in the 2nd. Lyoto at least had a round on him. That fight with Domenic Reyes wasn't his toughest. He didn't take him seriously and almost lost.
Correction he did lose, but I agree, wasn’t his toughest fight.
@@blackboy539040he didn’t, nice try though
@@aj8037 if you believe he won that fight you didn’t watch it. Jon jones is my favorite fighter, he lost. He still is the greatest but Reyes got screwed.
@@blackboy539040Naw u just don’t get MMA Reyes put up a good fight but was clearly getting outclassed
@@xdookmanex7576 na bro, I watched all his fights and he clearly won all of them, he lost to reyes. He even thought he lost, but jones sells fights. Reyes had to really beat him which I don’t think he could. He won on my cards and everyone who had eyes. I don’t think Reyes could’ve knocked or tapped jones which why I think he lost.
That wasn't a choke, that was a lynching‼️😭
Ong 😂😂😂
Actually thought Jon bodied Lyoto when I watched this fight
Non of you people realise that Lyoto is actually tougher man than Jon 😂 im pretty sure Jon wouldve tapped when he facing death. after this fight Lyoto the machete is my idol. A real martyr not caring that he could die.
Because jon is smart he could have tapped if in was in that choke
This ain’t Golf!
It’s The Ultimate Fighting Championship….
Assurda l instrumental di Dem sotto
It was beautiful 😍
Lyota timing jones long ass kicks with a punch and many mma fighters still dont understand kicking range is punching range. Keep that in mind if u find urself in a street fight with a boxer. That wide stance of a boxer may make him susceptible to a leg kick, but it also allows him to close the distance faster. And chances are, the boxer is much better at that than you. Fight smart, train hard.
But boxers aren’t wide stanced tho. They are mostly square so they are easy to hit when you try to close the distance they have advantage
I just wish Jones was a better human being
That career field brings out demons!
2 class acts!
sounded really proud saying he felt like he could have broken his neck then the beautiful but just sums him up entirely 😂😂
Lyoto is only fighter who won a round against prime jon jones 🔥🔥💪🏻
Lyoto who moved up a weight class against a natural heavyweight.......
Real warriors dont tap....legit!

Physics wise though. Could you snap someone's back vertebrae by twisting their neck in that crank jon had him in? This the type of shit we need myth busters to get on
Lyoto’s having been doping is probably why his neck didn’t snap!
Or did you forget he’d failed a drug test too!?
WE faked the kick?
as a honor fighter he never tap, jus he went to sleep..

is this considered a guillotine?

@@pavs4883 I dont think Jon Jones is scared of anybody on the planet
@@wcc4269 then why is he ducking Tom Aspinall. He's making it sound like he might never even fight Aspinall. He wants to fight 42 year old Miocic, or Pereria who's the LHW champ with only 1 defense instead of the interim champ in his own division. The whole point of interim champ is to say "The champ is out, so this guy is acting as champ. When the champ is back, we'll see who the real one is." But Jones said fuck that he doesn't wanna fight the interim champ for why????? Because he's scared he'll take his first (real) loss

@@mohammedlatif7258 most obvious casual reply ever 😂
Jones looked battered and finished he honestly survived because he took roids without the roids I think he lost this fight which is a real shame guess we will never know how good Jones is
jon dope Jones drugs, cheating and evil.
tested positive twice in his career, once for a party drug that had traces of a ped because of bad labour and a dickpill from the gas station one week prior, both dosis so small it wouldntve tested positive with todays usada standards.
measuring distances for fighters with long arms is extremely common and jones has the longest arms in the ufc, eye pokes allow you to take a break as long as you want and your opponent gets potentially points deducted, i watched all of jones fights he barely ever poked eyes, the only time he abused it was against rampage but it was more mental warfare. people never wanna complain about the rules, only about jon. and when i watched that trilogy of miocic and cormier which had a lot of eye pokes, everybody forgets about it the next day.
Think Jon was lucky to that fight
Then jon decided hec wanted to suk dk for crack, totally disrespecting the sport, his trainers, his family, the fans. Your good, but u could've been the best ever. Great job "champ" Pos. 😂. Yeah lol
