      They are proposals by the climate change committee.
      There are countries in the EU that have a meat tax, and a recent report showed C40 cities looking to cut urban meat consumption by two thirds in order to reduce climate change.
      They are only lies if you have limited understanding of what's going on. Which you seem to have.

    They don’t need to tax meat and dairy, they just need to reduce (and later remove) the subsidies to animal agriculture. That would mean a reduction in tax.

      The other thing is that most of these measures aren't actually that bad. Compare it to the trials, rules and hardships that people endured for WW2 and we look like whiney crybabies. Meat more expensive? At least its not rationed.Sorting your stuff into 7 bins? At least you aren't needing to donate your metal items to make guns and bullets.

    I'm glad to see the press really holding them to task. I'm Canadian, and I find many times our press will pose the direct question once, but then they let the politicians obfuscate, and move on.
    Save, thankfully of late, our press has done a great job in Ontario, tenaciously keeping in the public eye how our Premier deviosly opened up / sold off protected land to developer friends.

    20 years ago while living in Belgium, i remember having at least 4 "bins" for recycling. That was normal, no one's head blew up because they had to do it. I loved it and was thinking surely Britain will be doing the same soon.

    Right or wrong at least Sunak has had some common sense. He should go further and scrap the ban on petrol/ diesel cars in 2035 altogether. If EVs are so wonderful why will we be forced to buy them?
