Hi Paul, nice to see you uploading again, I always enjoy your videos. A note about film. Film isn't just film, it's an entry into the film photographic process, and unlocking the mystery of photosensitive emulsions and development, and printing - not just capturing raw data on a chip (not that there is anything wrong with that!)
Going further - film is beautiful - not simply the image, but the medium. Each film stock, paired with different processes, yields different results. The variations are endless - some are gorgeous.
Shooting film is one choice. Shooting digital is another. Many of us have felt the need to cross over to a physical medium. Yes it is costly. But as time goes on, I shoot fewer frames, getting better results. You learn to shoot with intention. And yes, I do appreciate that some people cannot afford it.
The most vexing matter is waste disposal. I'm still looking for an ECO developer that gives me the results I want, and a way to dispose of spent fixer.
    Thanks Paul-

The joys of living in the country. Up until recently we had an old artesian pump out the back of the house. It groaned and moaned its way for hours a day and night. I swear the damn thing was haunted. Now we have a submerged pump and its silent, and all is bliss :)
The first question re: books would have been my question to you as well. Having recently completed a family history photobook I now want to do some for the website. I'd be interested to know how successful that was for you. 👍

    Thank you sir...
I do develop my own B&W films, but don't have a darkroom, at least not yet. I guess time will tell and like I said, it would be a shame if it ceased to exist. I do enjoy the process after all...
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I tend to enjoy whatever you decide to cover. In part because there is a genuineness to your channel that is missing from most other photography channels. I find your images much more impressive than those of much better known RUclipsrs. To sum it up, you strike me as a very talented photographer and videographer first and foremost, while they strike me as people interested in photography with more of an interest in fame and perhaps fortune(?). Ultimately the images tell the story. Stay real.

Greetings , Just a note on the cost of film photography , If you use the bulk load method of buying film , it helps a lot . Also , I've always been of a mind that developing is part of the process , part of the fun and achievement of it all . Something you can be proud of . I love being able to say 'Ya , I develop at home ' . Plus it keeps the cost down .

Not sure about being proud, but more on regret wasting time instead of painting the town red. 🙂
I had done the film thing from end to end that involved B&W and color, slide and negative, capturing and wet processing & printing, refrigeration, mounting, cataloguing and long term storage four decades ago,

    👍Thanks again Paul.
So before I retired I said I want a small lifestyle block so that I had plenty to do and not get lazy and fat....now its finding enough time for my photography, but I will get there and I haven't put any weight on!

I think the photo labs and portras of the world will eventually be a “professional” or “luxury” thing in the future and the bulk rolls of K400 and home development will be the way people can afford to do film as a hobby.
I only started shooting film a half year ago and I’ve gotten black and white development and bulk rolling down to a science at home so a roll of B&W costs me about $6 total (including development). I even bought an enlarger for $30 on Craigslist and I can make prints at home for less than a buck a piece.
Beside the cost, like you said the process is part of the fun, the chemistry part is very magical to me, but if you don’t feel that way then film might not be for you in the long run

      What exactly is bulk loading?

P.S. After viewing your Incidents Of Isolation gallery, I'm very happy to learn that there is the potential for a new book from this particular series! (Left you a message via your website as well.)

Don't think film will die any time soon but it's dead for me. Here in the Philippines most films are over 600 peso and developing is another 300. The average daily wage is 400-500 so do you really want to work for two days just to get 36 shots?....you can't eat a negative....and is scanned HP5 still HP5 when it's the same pixel on a computer as one from a Sony sensor?....not so sure. Still, if someone offered me an M6 I wouldn't say no...

Hi Paul, thanks for Views from the shed. You asked for some questions, so I will ask - How do we learn to see the images that surround us? A simple question perhaps but the ability to do this well is what separates most of us from people like yourself and some others. thanks.

That sir is a good question! May have to give that some thought. Thanks Peter stay tuned.
