The copper flake you're seeing in the oil is probably from someone put Restore Oil Treatment in the oil. Seen it a ton of times. It will freak you out the first time. Got me for sure.
@TonyElam I personally have no issues with it. In fact Project Farm did a test with it that had very positive results. Just a scary sight the first time you drop the oil afterwards. Lol
I put one of those CarPlay modules into my 2011 A6 last year. Looks like there’s a lot more room in the S5 than the A6. I almost gave up trying to wedge the wiring harness into a small area. The module itself had to go behind the glove box. Well worth it though. Brought an old car into modern times.
When I saw the silhouette on Legit Street Car's latest video, I thought they bought your Model X, haha. but still. Love. the video updates on the new garage and home DIY stuff. Keep up the awesome work! If you ever need someone to look at a potential car and take pics in Dallas Fort Worth area, let me know. I'd be happy to help.
I put that in my A7. It's a pain. If he has any issues with the sound quality, there are a lot of tweaks on the EQ for the main menu. It changes the navigation audio, BT phone audio, and a lot of controls for the music audio. I just hate when I keep trying to touch the screen, lol.
I wanted Android Auto and Carplay in a Challenger and after seeing the chinese boxes to retrofit it, I just decided it was easier to just swap a newer Uconnect (from a 2019 Charger) in and flash a body computer to retain heated seat and heated steering wheel controls. Turns out, there's virtually zero room in the dash for aftermarket, unless I wanted some awful tablet sticking out over the vents in the dash (Stinger HEIGH10). Turns out, the factory setup was cheaper than aftermarket too, didn't require center console removal, and probably took the same amount of time too (since I didn't need to shove an interface box into the dash).
I've had both style of these, the type here that doesn't replace the screen, and the screen replacement style that gives touch screen. Go with the later. My S4 is the B8+, so the next gen MMI from this car I think. These are also generally wireless Android Auto as well (which is what I use).
Did the same type of swap in my wife's 2013 B8.5 Audi S4. It uses the newer (but still old/outdated) 3G MMI, though the process is very similar. I used the "name brand" RS Nav unit, though they don't make this type of unit anymore as they want to just sell their screen replacement now. It does CarPlay but I have no need for Apple, but Android Auto works great with it. Install is easy but there are some key differences. One is the newer MMI has phone streaming and you utlize that. But to do so, you have to get audio in one of two ways. #1 - the dumb way, which is run a cable to the Aux input. #2 - the right way, is to use VCDS - which every Audi owner should already own - and code it so the output works. I forget how but there are RUclips instructions on doing it and its easy. I also don't have to switch back to the car for the backup camera, as it does it just like factory. Takes a bit to get used to using the knob and buttons to navigate around Android Auto intstead of a touch screen. If it were my car instead of the wife's, I would have done the screen swap unit instead.
I was looking into putting a RSNAV, all they offer now is the series 4, but when looking I saw that you had to do that Aux input thing to get the sound out. Quite honestly that feels like a hack, so there's a way to not have that aux cable and using some VCDS to have it work w/o the aux cable trick? Also, how has it been, has she seen any major bugs with it? I was looking to place one in my 14' S4. Either way thanks for commenting as it answered so many things already.
@@stagmanson4155yep, there are videos online on how to do it without the aux. I don't recall it being a big deal. Wife never uses it...I do when I drive her car. Works really well. Only issue it ever has is occasionally not connecting to my phone, which is usually fixed turning Bluetooth off and on (S22 Ultra). I have that happen from time to time with AAWireless in my truck and my factory look Android unit in my Cayman, so not a unit-specific issue.
So are you saying they don't sell the RS nav without the giant display? I don't need a touchscreen and would prefer the recessed factory look screen but would like android auto. 2013 S5.
Nice addition to the S5! I just picked up my 2011 last week and really want to install CarPlay. But does that interfere with being able to check oil levels, tire pressure, and other features of the car?
7:34 If they get a Dashcam System, they could play back the video to the Police (via the dash), if in an accident (provided that the car isn't on fire)!
This is a situation where I would add a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil to mix, and do an oil change 500 to 1000 miles later. It will clean out all the sludge. Just don't overfill, so replace one of the regular quarts with the Marvel.
@JR I was thinking about getting a new head unit for my 2014 Nissan Frontier but I did not want to give up the backup camera, hands free phone and steering wheel controls. What would you suggest for this?
I have an Atoto based on your recommendations, and for some reason it will keep activating Siri if the volume is too loud in Spotify. And some songs are way worse than others. Any ideas why this happens? It acts like I’m holding the lock/button on my iPhone.
FYI for folks who have not had ACP or AA- If you are on wifi when you get in the car, like you will be at home, it takes WAY longer then is acceptable to get audio from the head unit then it did in say 2014 with just bluetooth...... I never use Android Auto unless Im going out of town. Do your research and another FYI, Amazon reviews on car stereos are very unreliable. Atoto for instance pays for positive feedback with free back up cameras..... I got the camera and then edited my review to reflect the terrible AM/FM performance...
It's kind of dependent on what version of bt the radio has and what codecs it supports. If it supports aptx/aac/ldac, it's fine. Hell even SBC is fine if it supports a high enough bitrate
So….someone took a modern Audi and put technology from a model A in to it…..what on earth for….a clutch pedal…..hahahahahahaha😜😀 i really miss the built in sd reader my old Audi q7 had, my new sq8 doesn’t have that feature. I had mine set up to play movies, it was quite nice.

I know a guy who puts Restore in every used vehicle he owns. Regardless of issues or not he just starts adding it from day one.
@TonyElam I personally have no issues with it. In fact Project Farm did a test with it that had very positive results. Just a scary sight the first time you drop the oil afterwards. Lol
@@Moosecop32 I agree that it would be!

I got the 12" screen replacement after having one of these. Not having the touchscreen is annoyingly in the middle of usability.
So busy doing so much JR. Very Impressive.
New features that never came in the car is always fun.
I NEVER watch your videos on my Atoto while driving... That would be wrong.

I put one of these in my 2013 A4 allroad. GAME CHANGER. I haven't used any of the stock radio or nav since!

It needs a dash mount 16K 45" flat-screen and 12.1 Dolby THX surround system.... because tech is cooler than anything,

I've always liked the looks of the Audi S5 since the first one I saw near Tinker AFB at a Circle K getting fuel. They are very expensive though.
lol , that 2005 or whatever cannot be expensive now

The b8.5 S5s are going for $15-20k depending on mileage for an accident free 2013-2015 model. Seems reasonable to me.

Maybe flakes of copper from the drain plug gasket, since he noticed immediately upon drain plug removal.

In one of the MMI sub menus, you can turn on music streaming via Bluetooth, then you wouldn't have needed the Bluetooth adapter on the mmi cable.
