Me watching any Geekritique video: "Wow this went deep!" Also me watching any Geekritique video: "Why am I surprised? Dakota never skimps on the deets!"
What’s cool is that the Forgotten Realms is actually older than DnD. ‘87 is the first box set, Greenwood mentions Realms stuff earlier in the decade in Dragon magazine, and he wrote a gazetteer and several short stories set in the Realms that were actually published before 1974. Just fyi
I did read that, which is fascinating. I chose not to include it in the video because people unfamiliar with DnD might find all the extra info on pre-DnD Realms stuff confusing. I’m curious to read some of it though. Any idea where I might find it?
@@Geekritique the only one that I’ve been able to find is “One Comes Unheralded to Zirta” found in The Best of the Realms II, stories of Ed Greenwood, because it’s a later publication of a story written much before (apparently it’s the first story for the Realms) The stuff published before DnD seems exceptionally hard to find as I haven’t even found any leads.
Great video...I haven't played D&D in a long time (my first DM had the first edition rules which very different than what we had now, since the game evolved out of the idea of taking historical war gaming techniques and trying to find a way to do battles with units that had magic powers...we played First Edition AD&D instead, the rules were more fun). I really want to see this movie, it looks like a lot of fun. I think you'll be a great DM, you have great organizational skill and a wonderful attention to detail...will you be able to resist Imogen's hurt look when she fails a roll and gets eaten by a mimic? Only time will tell...looking forward to the next video as always!
I’m sure your games were legendary! And I hope you get the chance to check this movie out, it’s right up your alley. And lol, thanks. I can’t wait to set that mimic on her and the party 😂
Finally got around to watching the video and it was great as usual! Had no idea how much history there really was to it and it's so cool how you laid everything out so digestibly
I have an idea I want to swing by you about the MCU timeline. For some quick context: I’m currently have a disagreement with an AoS fan about wether AoS and the Netflix shows are canon or not. It gave me an idea, what if we had 2 different timelines: Earth-199999 where the Netflix stuff isn’t canon And Earth-199912 where the Netflix shows are canon
Hello. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse refer to Earth 616. That is, it has a connection to the MCU. Please add them to your watch list.
Sorry but this question is MCU related can you, geekiritique, update the description in the latest MCU timeline video in which you put links to season 1, 2, 3 of The Daily Bugle. I can’t find them anywhere so I feel like it would help if you put links to those in the description of that video. thank you for listening if you get a chance to look at this commebt
The only DnD universe i ever cared about was and is, Forgotten Realms. That's because stellar games BG1,2, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter games. Read a handfull of books and in my opinion it slaps every other fantasy settings. Ok, Planescape Torment is somewhere beneath, and as far as i remember this somewhat classic crpg Temple of the Elemental Evil is also a part of that dnd multiverse.

Love this haha. Thanks! Super happy you enjoyed the deep dive!
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was a surprisingly great movie!
100% agree, loved it

just woke up and i watched this and wow.. amazing video EASILY one of your best works
I’m SO GLAD to hear that. Thanks bro!
As a massive DnD nerd, this was a pleasant surprise and I'm always interested in the diversity of your Timeline content. Excellent work!
Aw man, thank you! Glad you liked it, and my random timeline content lol.
great breakdown, brother. now i know what to look at first before watching the movie again. good job.
Thanks man! Glad you liked it. Enjoy your next watch-thru!

Happy to help! Thanks for commenting!
Nice job! Forgotten Realms is my jam.
Thank you, Liam!
PEAKritique
LOL! Thanks 😂
Another great video, I'm upset I didn't get to watch this until I got out of the hospital but it was worth the wait
Thank you! I’m sorry to hear about the hospital visit. Hope all is well?
@@Geekritique it is now thank you!
Okay, Good to hear
So the period where DnD sets is in the 14th century and the late 15th century but fictional, I like it.
I hadn’t thought about it like that, but yeah, that’s a good way to put it.
Great video
Thanks Uggy Chuggy, very cool. 😎
Great vid
Thanks so much!

Well I’m not the one who makes the Earth designations canon so I’m not in a position to call it 199912.
I’m sorry, 1491 DR is “The Year of the Scarlet Witch”?! 🤯
🤣
✌💪 Well done!
Thanks for watching Tom!

Forgotten Realms is just such a fleshed out setting.
