It's Thursday and the members of Sterling Cooper have weekend plans.
Roger is lonely. His wife and daughter are going out of town so he approaches Joan for an after-work rendezvous, but she is not his bird in a cage - she has made other plans. Roger does not want to be alone, so he goes to Don and invites him out for a drink. He excludes Pete Campbell and pretends to forget his name.
Don and Roger go out for drinks at a bar. At the bar Roger notices two beautiful young women looking their way. When Don leaves, their gazes follow him and Roger realizes he wasn’t the object of their affection. Suddenly Roger doesn’t exist. He becomes envious, wants to compete with Don, wants to recapture the youth that Don has yet to lose.
Roger is entering unfamiliar territory. He’s always been charming, handsome. He was born with a silver spoon, had a spoiled childhood followed by an equally spoiled adulthood. But he’s getting older. His charm is waning, he has children to worry about, a wife who’s sick of him. He hangs out with Don who’s still young, mysterious, dashing, rising in the world.
Betty in pin curls and underwear, is taking Bobby out of the bath as the phone rings. It’s Don saying that Roger is coming for dinner.

Good news. Mona and Margaret are going out of town for the weekend. Mona's mother fell down the steps.
