😆
I tell you what...your are not boring .....you are a good teacher.....thanks
Thank you! MK
The best thing about your videos is that you make me feel capable enough to work on this craft, but then to top it off, you walk me through the whole process step by step. That’s not something many people do. So, i really want to say thank you for helping me.
Thanks Kevin! MK
Nice job 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks romeo Cedeño!

@@StrapaWatch thanks!.. will do!..often my ambition outstrips my ability, but I'm definitely having a crack at it...
... I'm thinking the pins will be a hassle, I don't have those little tools... 🤯

So, uh, when are the more advanced tutorials coming out? I struggle with making a pattern for a tapered strap and knowing what dimensions to make any sort of padding.
Thanks Brooke, I doubt I'll be making any more tutorial videos. It's just not what I really do. Please feel free to contact me directly through my website. MichaelKnappLeather.com
Thank you for adding the template procedure! do you recommend a thicker type of paper (like construction paper) for beginners?
Thanks for the comment John Michael! Yes, thicker construction paper would be better but not necessary. Templates made of acrylic are great if you’re going to be making a lot of straps. Learning how to draw out your own templates is a great foundation to leather crafting. It gives you the ability to create your own designs, whether it’s wallets, watch straps, or whatever. Thanks again! MK
Hi Michael, thanks for your videos, they are very interesting, I wanted to ask you the threads you use are 0.031 in or 0.024 in? Thank you very much, keep sharing more videos please, Giovanni Ayala
Thanks Giovanni! I actually use .06 Tiger Thread these days... MK
Some makers place a liner to stop stretching. Do you? What is this called?
Thanks for the question Kevin! Over the years I have tried using Velodon Reinforcement Material out of France on several straps of my own. I wanted to compare the results against my traditional straps and found that it wasn’t necessary to use with the high end leathers and alligator that I strictly use. It made them feel more stiff to, which I didn’t like. So no, I don’t use an inner lining… MK
@@StrapaWatch thank you
Good morning Brother...I wasn't sure I was going to like the rivets on the strap...boy was I wrong. As you know rivets are the strongest of all to secure leather. It really looks great with the watch you chose. I had to laugh when you said making mistakes was a part of it. I had to pause your video to take apart a bag that I really screwed up. Thanks for another great video. By the way, I have a complete set of acrylic templates for watch straps that I've had for years and I've yet to make a strap. I also have the spring bar tool set still new in the box. Here's an idea..how about I send this stuff to you and we can maybe have a contest...say.. beginners only..make a strap, send pics to you of the finished straps mounted on there watch...and you pick a winner and send them the stuff??? Just a thought that could be a lot of fun...let me know and I'll be glad to send it to you. Love your content...wish I lived closer...later
Love it Dan! Thanks for the idea and being so generous with your personal supplies. Let’s do it. Please send them to the address on my website. I have a couple shows in the hopper for the next couple of weeks, and Linda an I are going on a vacation in three weeks. So, we have some time before I’ll be able to do the show for this. Please take your time in getting me everything. And yes, it’ll be for Subscribers only. Thanks again! MK
@@StrapaWatch Great, I'll get it in the mail to you...free stuff..free templates..contests..drawings...All the stuff that get's me to a youtube channel...works for me too....later brother.
You’re the best... Thanks Brother! MK
@@StrapaWatch last comment....I want to see the video with you and your new watch @10K subs.

Back at ya… MK
Hi Michael, great video, thank you and as are all your videos. I just got a Milgauss also, lovely watch. Anyway my question is how do you source leather, where is the best place to go. I live in Europe
Hi Stu! Love hearing from fellow Milgauss guys! I buy my leather through many places, Rocky Mountain Leather, Springfield Leather, Weaver Leather Supply, Horween Leather Co., American Tanning, and others. I hope this helps. Thanks for asking! MK
You are the Bob Ross of leather working. Your instructions are easy to understand, and you don’t over complicate procedures. The leather working community needed someone to explain simple project simply. There is always time to learn advanced techniques later. Thanks for the video
Thanks John! MK
Thanks for the vídeo! How many milimeters is the leather You used?
Sorry for the delay Federico, but I’ve been traveling. The leather I used for this video was just under 2.0mm. Thanks! MK
@@StrapaWatch thank You. I really apreciate 🙏

Right on!
If I would like to make a strap for a Rolex - how can I contact your business? I can never wear leather straps because my watch is too large- 9.25”. Not handy enough to make my own....
Thanks for contacting me. You're the type of guy I really specialize for. I just finished with a strap for another guy with a 9" wrist. Please visit my website MichaelKnappLeather.com
If you're looking for these to be tutorials you should focus the camera more on the what are you doing instead of having an image of everything in the background even though you're a good-looking dude I'd rather see the project not you and not your shop because I can't see the project
Hi Robert, My shows really are not tutorials. These two back to back episodes were made simply to introduce people to basic leather crafting. I had several people reach out to me, as I started in this video, saying that they were interested in leather crafting and what they should start with, what tools to buy, where to purchase the leather, things like that. I had never done anything like these and doubt I ever will again on my channel. They were a lot of work to put together. I appreciate the constructive criticism. If you actually watched the entire show you would have heard me twice say that I’m not a teacher. I did the very best I could and worked very hard on the editing to try and showcase the project. I’m sorry you were unable to “see the project” as you stated, but I had a lot of feedback from others who said they really enjoyed the show. Have you ever tried putting a show like this together? If not, I’d suggest trying it out yourself and then you’ll see how hard it actually is... MK
@@StrapaWatch it was still a good video. I got into leather Craftsmen about a year ago and I haven't done any watch straps yet and I came across your a video you had a good clean intro even the template to the watch strap was easy to follow. Had a hard time seeing how thin you skived the Buckle ends of the watch strap thanks again for your video
Thanks Robert!
just one question ? what should be leather thickness ,,i am a vintage watch collector so advice me accordingly please 🙏🏻
It all depends on the watch…
Amazing tutorial video, Very helpful! Can you perhaps in the future show using a stitch instead of using rivets or grommets? I like the vintage look of stitching instead of rivets.
Thanks for the comment Mike. My channel & videos really aren’t tutorials. I had done this as an introduction to leather crafting, because I had a lot of people reaching out to me who were interested in getting into it. You can watch many of my other shows to see me hand saddle stitching straps and other leather products together. I doubt I’ll be doing any more of theses introductory videos, but I know better then saying ‘never.’ Thanks again! MK
Yes, you are a very good teacher. Thanks
Thank You! MK
You're definitely a good teacher. Actually most of these leather tutorials are just follow along videos without any real instruction. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us
Thanks! MK
you did amazing 🤩 Wish ! i could sit beside you and learn more 😊seems bit tedious at this moment but got some leather for this purpose only so nothing to lose ..will give it a try 😊
Thanks!
Cheers, this is a well made, helpful video. Thanks for making and sharing it.
Glad this was helpful. Thanks Shawn! MK
