Also I was like you watched Katsugeki first and was clueless , about them it's all because I watched all of it the musicals, the other anime and played the game but it's all the same TBH, it's just an exaggerated lore by the community but is also true, you should also read the fandom wiki on Horikawa and Izuminokami or I can personally explain because I'm a weeb xD

What is Touken Ranbu? Where can I watch/play/read it?
Touken Ranbu is a character breeding like simulation game, the animes originated from the game first.
So practically swords from old Japanese history have been animated to humans by the sage also known as the saniwa which is you, the player.
The Time Retrograde army plans to destroy time by altering it's past so the swords go back in time to protect it and face hard challenges.
The game is kinda boring to most people but unless you're a die hard fan and determined I think you can find the fun in it. You can install the game on Qoo App and play it.
The animes, Touken Ranbu Hanamaru > Touken Ranbu Zoku are the ones to watch first. It's blocked in most countries so you can check your anime watch apps like Crunchyroll or whatever. Or you can just go to GoGoAnime online.
Lastly it's an amazing anime based off the characters I animated here ( Horikawa and Izuminokami ), if you've watched Demon Slayer / Fate Series before and you know Studio Ufotable...Guess what they animated Touken Ranbu Katsugeki. So yeah you can try to find it anywhere.
Sorry for the long paragraphs but there's so much to this fandom that's very interesting but it's only famous in Asia. I want share it with everyone and I'm glad you're interested.
