- 🌴 Transcription of Amazing Grace by the great Cory Henry!
*In measure one, this is the note about grace notes I meant to include: "Acciaccaturas with slurs to a seceding note mean that only that seceding note is played after the beat. The other chord notes that aren't tied to the acciaccatura are to be played on the beat."

Hey guys! I decided to tackle Cory Henry again :). Here's is the transcription for Cory Henry's All I Do: ruclips.net/video/UWeSrfE35Wc/видео.html
Thanks Mr. Gondola. You help me access music I wouldn't hear otherwise. You da man and I am thankful for you...
i'm a classically trained pianist... started playing at aged 5...
but then i listen to cory play... & all i want to do is cut my hands off...
what a talented boy. you can't pay for that.
He has a compelling story. He didn't get this great by accident.
This is such a sleeper channel that will be huge someday for transcribing the tunes no one else will
If only Oscar were alive to hear this! What a phenomenal and brilliant job of transcribing! Off the chart!
hahahaha, that was immediately my thought. Instantly thought of Oscar Peterson.
Ohhh, Oscar definitely hears it.
Thank you for the love guys! If you enjoyed this video please like it, share it, Iet's get as many musicians as possible to see this!
Timothy Gondola good Job bro !!!
@@jeanebo8550 Thanks Jean!
You are super
Это Джазовый Оргазм!!! Браво!!! Игристые гармонии с модуляциями!!! 🎹🎵🎶🎼❤❤❤👍👍👍
Your transcription ability is unbelievable. Thanks:)
What you're doing here is invaluable. I'm hooked.
ay ive seen your hamilton videos
I am absolutely amazed with this piece! The great one! Thank you 😊
Mindblowing! Both performance and transcription!
Sounds like Cory Henry. Looks like Karlheinz Stockhausen.
Hi Timothy, this is unbelievable amazing ! Thanks - also for your masterwork: Both sides now - I finally managed to work it through ......you are a real master !
Amazing work Tim!
Such a powerful version. Especially around 3:15. Thank you.
Cory Henry and Hiromi Uehara are my favourite virtuoso pianists. I love them for their clarity. Even most complex things are still crystal transparent in their performances.
Ingenious! Good luck trying to learn this with the sheet :)
3:09 I loved when he quoted New York State of Mind!
3:52 really hits home for me
doesn't it just.
Incredible 🔥🔥🔥 awesome job with the transcription 👌🏾
Thank you bro!
Entire musical world: C major is the easiest key to understand, theoretically
Cory: hold my beer
why should C major be easier to understand than other major keys?
@M C LOL! "it's pretty straight forward" well, "thank you"... that really doesn't answer anything...
@M C "There’s stuff you can do..." WTF Dude?!? what the hell has that to do with my question?
@M C so you prefer to give useless comments instead? Since i am a trained musician myself, i am pretty sure you could give an answer in a few sentences if you knew what you were talking about. ;-)
@M C No...?
That's some amazing grace notes 😉
Thank you do much for this. I can't read notes and never had enough strong will to learn it, but this setup gives me hope that im might be quite useful and not as pointless as I used to think. Thank you so much!
Great job my friend...thank you for all your work!!
very welcome as always!
What a performance. This guy is a monster.
hes also a bastard.........no father or mother he his from in the music world....All by in his class of himself
Simply Amazing!
How lovely this melody is...
My goodness...is there anything you can't play? That is just plain awesome.
Thank you! Being classically trained, I think I can learn just about any piano piece with the sheet music haha. As far as improvising though, I have a long long way to go to be where I want to be.
What a great job Timothy!
Thanks for sharing your gift with us and be blessed in the name of Jesus Christ.
From #Belgium
Thank you Ben, que Dieu vous bénisse aussi!
Amazing transcription.
Great transcription!!
Sin duda alguna!!...
The Art Tatum of our time. Cory is great!
Agreed. His chops are unparalleled in his generation and he always plays with great feeling.
Masterpiece.
Thank you for this!
2:50 end of bar 42 and 43...wtf that was so awesome
Somehow it's Gershwinian, isn't it? :)
The thing is, I can explain what is going on theoretically here. It’s drop 2s harmonising a descending melody with enclosure on the V7 of IV major. But what’s insane... is that he comes up with gorgeous, edge of your seat material like this every day and in the moment without preparation. It just flows right out of him.
Thank you thousand times for a great transcription of a great improvisatioon !! Is there a chance to buy this as score sheet - as well as other transcriptions ... ?
There is so much technique in this man, it's crazy.
3:48 Sounds like Chopin
3:50 Sounds like Liszt
Kind of with a lot more modal interchange and gospel harmony but yes
no it dont!
@@alanleoneldavid1787 Bar 59 to the A minor chord on the second dotted quarter note beat doesn't really sound like gospel at all. If you heard that on it's own outside the context of the rest of the music and had to guess the style, you'd more likely say German romanticism than gospel or any other American style.
@@martinsoto317 yes it do
Sorri
Amazing transcription ..
The only thing as brilliant as this music is this transcription. Bravo man!! Jeez!!
Super!!Thanks!
Magnífica interpretação!!
as I said before, you are a genius !
thank you so much !
great job!
Es un chingonazo ése Cory Henry!!...
My god I can't stop listening to this
0:38 when the tuplet is so graceful it looks like a bible verse
danger.
genius at work.
Yes!
You should do his 5:46 long blue Bossa! There’s the same one uploaded twice on RUclips that he posted to Facebook in house.
just one short reply......WOW!
This is god tier piano.
2:50 3:48 3:12
Incredible! Was just wondering - I'm hearing F#+A+Eb rather than an Eb minor chord at 3:52 in the right hand - might be mistaken though
God bless you bro!
Thanks henry likewise!
Wow went a little extra on the inflections 😂, 17:12?! And 27lets very precise
Quiero aprender a transcribir como tu 🙏
thx!!!!!!!
"add note about grace notes" I too, forget to come back to some things like this. Good job!
Haha yep sometimes we miss the obvious things... thanks for watching!
Cory sprinkled just a hint of Monk on this tune. So nasty, it’s clean.
rediculously sweet
Fabulous.
02:49 I've never seen that time signature before 😩 20/16
It seemed to be the only way to accurately capture what Cory played
Cool
Te amo
Robert glasper has an Amazing grace version and its wicked....I cant find it on youtube....I got the audio version....
Dan Ordel where's the audio version?
He's churchin' me in nine, brothers and sisters... surely the most gospel of all tunes.... and the hippest ever...?.
Wow
03:47
Chopin
It definetly sounds extremely similar to a phrase in his andante spianato et grande polonaise
I swear I hear another C on top of that second inversion C major triad in bar 17.
Same
Unreal...
TQ
How can I get this Score ?
C major
This reminds me of the great James Booker. Check him out on Black Night. Truly amazing
Ah yeah, I used to play a transcription of his Sunny Side Of The Street!
@@TimothyGondola Dude so do I! Wow. Heard of Josh Paxton?
Love hearing the audience reaction. Just wouldn't be the same without it.
+
is this still amazimg grace?
What's that licc played at th begining
All i heard is Art Tatum, Oscar peterson, Bud Powell and Eroll Garner 😂 Cory you are a living legend bro.🇭🇹🇭🇹👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
1) Cory Henry est incroyable
2) la transcription est incroyable
Merveilleux Merci
Maurice Simonetti C’est vrai!
👍👍👏👏🥇🎶
I believe the original video you linked in the description isn't the right one. Could you correct that please? Thanks!
Ah, I corrected that thanks a lot!
@@TimothyGondola Thank you! Amazing work by the way, you're channel will be so useful to me ;)
I was following along until I realized that I couldn't and then realized that it was in 9/8 LOL
Pls what do you mean with 9/8
@@iwillseejesuschristgbenga1788 9/8 is a rhythm consisting of three sets of 3 notes, in a waltz time
@@andywright8803 no
17 against 12, uhhhhhhhhh wut
Do you provide the midi also
MIDIs are available on Patreon too!
can i bui just this sheet ?
Hey Nicholas, you can send me a message here: timothygondola.com/contact
like .. this was my honor, now u learn it .. xP
3:24 sounds really familiar to song, but which
Grieg piano concerto?
Idk it sounded like that to me for a split second
Okay everyone, you can all stop playing this song now, it's done.
The first chord of bar 23 doesn't sound right to me, am i the only one?
I think that last chord is missing an F#
His right hand plays D, F#, C (not D, E, C).
3 years too late but there is an F# in the last chord, C7(9,#11)
My biggest pet peeve is when people clap. Especially not in the correct tempo.
Me too!
Growing up in a gospel church i can assure you that was the right tempo. Buts its subjective i guess🤷♂️
@@dariuscottingham9034 He didn’t say it wasn’t
@@MusicByIsaacE why would he comment that if he didn't feel it was relevant?
@@dariuscottingham9034 He felt that the clapping was relevant, but the second part was him referring to his own experiences
Love the fills and runs but I can't hear the tune
Danny Figueredo so you’re deaf
@@aaronorloff8205 I agree that the melody is audible, but there was no reason to be a dick about it.
But can’t you feel it? This rendition transcends the mere act of hearing the familiar melody.
I must be in heaven!! already❤️🙏👏☝️🎵😁
Also have you heard this other version by corey henry. He takes a mote classical approach and the reharms are beautiful man. im sure youll love getting your teeth into this one...
ruclips.net/video/H_TcFxw0bxs/видео.html
Loved that version!
ffs. ❤
Who else feels shamefully left out because they can't read music?
learn! take a half hour out of your day, every day, and start the process. it'll open a beautiful new musical world for you
Are you kidding me right now? Come on!
Hmm, yess. Lets put a bar of 44/8ths.
Lol, software limitations.
Timothy Gondola just love how the composer did that.
