Good friend of mine is an ex-TM. I always find it fascinating listening to his stories, is indeed a dream job. But not for the faint of heart, some of the accidents he has had to attend to would haunt normal people for a long time. The tight knit group Jonny described is absolutely vital for these guys to deconstruct the incidents they attend. I and every true TT fan have so much respect for what they do in keeping the TT going.
Lee, you are a natural and with Chris, the two of you crack me up with your banter! Great chemistry, loved every podcast! As for the TMs only the highest respect! Nothing better than eggs and bacon, that goes without saying.
I find it hard to believe that Lee is so naive about what the TM's do. Does he realise that without those guys and all the other volunteers around the course, we wouldn't be able to see our heroes doing what they love doing? Great podcast as are all of them and looking forward to part 2.
@@mickydebargos, I think the real problem (that this episode exposes) is how little the Marshals (in general) and the Traveling Marshals are understood. The Manx and the TT both are dependent on the TM’s as well as the over 550 Marshals stood on the course. Without ALL of them working as a team, neither race can go on. This past year (2023) was my first as a Marshal. While I had some idea coming from both total fascination and experience as a mechanic at the MGP, having worked as a corner worker and starter here in the US, I still was not ready for the intensity. Were I in a position to migrate annually, I would sign on as a Marshal. If my CV included racing there, yes I would dream of it but my skill set is a bit underwhelming.
@Ken_Buchanan I take my hat off to you Ken. I am a regular visitor so I fully understand what's required. I guess I was just a little surprised at Lee's lack of knowledge to be honest. Roll on 24th May 🇮🇲🏍🏁
Prior to reading the book on the TT Marshalls I always thought it would be great to be a travelling marshal but one I read it my admiration for them was even greater. As Jonny says its certainly not a jolly. I have since reading the book been a Marshal at the TT and I can tell you once you put that orange bib on you know that your there to do a job rather than just watch a race. If you can please volunteer as without Marshalls racing cannot take place.
Very interesting insight in to what goes on behind the scenes, really enjoyed it. Anyone know where Jonny's t-shirt is from, asking for a friend? Cheers
TMs are the pinnacle of professionalism. Total respect.
The unsung heroes. Next time we see them coming past, we will remember this podcast. Much respect, see you in June.
No travelling Marshalls no TT, you guys do an amazing job, total respect

Lee has really settled well into this podcast malarky! Genuine, funny and down to earth. Good partnership going there.

Aye, probably the best podcast by them as a team since I've been listening.
The guest is the most interesting too!

I still think that the best place on track for a start/finish location is right at the beginning of Crosby climbing up. Can't wait for 2024 to start!
Absolutely brilliant podcast great guy great family much love respect jonny hegg! The realjonnyhegg can ya guess who left this comment bro xx
I've always wondered what pace they do, I'm not thinking 130mph laps but a standard road bike on cold road tyres pack with medi kit..?
There's a good story on the TT Travelling Marshalls channel about the pace Michael Dunlop did on one of those bikes
@@internetpunter3503 very capable bike, just wondered what speed when they’re on it
They're all ex TT and MGP competitors. And theyre all quick.
Eye opening doesn`t cover that!
Didn’t realise non doctors could put in airways ..?

Can't here a thing! Must be going deaf! Every other videos seems ok, but even up full struggling to here? Anyone else?
