Jani Liimatainen - Guitar Lesson 01

Jani Allan Kristian Liimatainen (born 9 September 1980 in Kemi, Finland) is a Finnish musician, songwriter and backing vocalist. He is the former guitarist and one of the founding members of the power metal band Sonata Arctica. He has also performed with Cain's Offering, Altaria and Stratovarius vocalist Timo Kotipelto (his band mate in Cain's Offering).

Bro, even 2 years later, I had to comment. I fell in love with Jani's playing when I discovered Sonata when I was a kid. I've yet to see someone have his precision when playing live, and I hope to see him one day even now that he's in Insomnium.

To my ears, sounds like maybe a chorus pedal

set your guitar to bridge pickup only. hes using a chorus pedal as well as reverb effect either with a pedal also or thru the amps reverb setting. set midrange settings on your amp to between zero to two very low to scoop the overdrive. you will get very close to this sound not to hard at all.
