Paul Childerley & Terry Behan : Autumn Fallow Rut

- In this month’s episode Paul is joined by B.A.S.C’S East of England Director Terry Behan, as they head off after Fallow Buck, one very foggy morning.
But! Could it all be for nothing? A ghostly Doe has her eyes and ears open for these two, as they make their way through some lovely autumnal woods. The changing colours of the Sweet Chestnuts and Beech make this a dream stalk after the elusive Bucks.
As always Paul takes a few moments out to chat with Terry about his role in BASC, but has some quick fire questions as well.
So sit down with your cuppa and chocky hob nob of course, as there’s no better biscuit!
“Sorry no dunking allowed!”
Please comment below on anything you’d like to know or ask Paul to try and get a particular guest or film with a brand if possible.
Thank you for watching, and we hope you enjoy.
Good to hear some sense with regard to the .243, very reassuring
Another great production, Paul-very well put together and incredibly informative, as always. Good to hear from Terry and like the new personal touches and fonts that you have introduced to the interviews. Well done, too, for pushing on through when you were obviously ill, nice croaky calling!
Yes was a little ill before 😂 but only had that window in the work schedule to do it.!
Fantastic show guys!! Super interesting and informative content with two of the nicest people in the industry 🙌

Perfect thank you for the feedback 👍🏻
Thank you any suggestions of an next guest?
Only halfway through the vid, but ref bullets in .243. I had a factory Tikka 595 with 1:10 twist and starting loading my own ammo, firstly with Hornady 90Gr, which it would not shoot, so i got it re-barrelled.
- its speed that does the damage, and a 1:10 twist barrel wont stabilise above 85Gr copper... but drive it fast it does the job.
-Tikka are now doing 1:8 or 1:10 twist options.
- There is also a growing number of good gunsmiths who will re-barrel at a reasonable cost to 1:8
- i am shooting a custom tikka 24" running barnes 95gr at 3300fps 1/2" at 120m.
Am off to watch the remaining minutes of the vid 🙂....
All very valid points and align with Terry’s comment regarding older rifles 👍
Fantastic another success story but with a lot of hard work well done.
It’s not an easy fix, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you for your message. Very interesting.
Really enjoyed that Paul, keep them coming please👍

Nice one thanks
Did the camera man, intentionally point the camera at Paul’s arse! Or was that just coincidental? Anyway lovely film guys looking forward to what’s coming up!
😂 very good comment keep them coming. 👍🏻
The best one on You Tube is Sarah Miles - beautiful in every way
Hi Paul, great film. How do you know what dear to take. I assume that at the moment it is stags you're after, but what is it you're looking for in the animal.
Are your trousers the Swazi Forrest pants? I have a pair and can’t fault them for all round stalking. I’ve got far more items of their kit that I can remember, including things from when i first went to New Zealand in 2007 which are still going strong. Worth every bit of the cost
Yes, they are. I love them. Can’t believe how versatile they are with whether I wear them from summer right through this time of the year.
Same as anything you get what you pay for!
Thank you for the message 👍🏻
Hi Paul great vid as normal 👍 what round do you use for the 243 for fallow as you don’t like the 243 lead soft point thanks shaun
90g are ok 👍🏻
Nice video paul
Thanks 👍
Thank you ☺️
Great vid! How come there’s no need to use non-lead with air guns, compared to shotguns and rifles? Thanks
Air guns do not have the energy to fragmentise so the risk to humans and wildlife from air gun pellets inks not an issue - this is for sub 12ftlb - the HSE have dropped all restriction proposals for airguns
Good episode but some some constructive criticism: the sound balance is awful, the background music in transition scenes is very loud compared to the volume of the speech.
Okay, no problem. Thank you for the feedback. We will see what we can do. 👍🏻
Are these Farmed deer ???
No these are wild deer and part of a UK cull plan, to maintain a healthy number and population of deer.
No all wild
Deer 👍🏻
Why would you shoot a big buck on a rutting stand?? Why not leave him to do his job with the does and shoot the satellite bucks on the out skirts of the stand? He looks like a perfect buck to leave to cover the does??
The buck will have done the deed already and this not means that other bocks in the area who are better animals will lead the way. Many bucks are shot in the rut - this is also common among other deer species.
