  • Morgantown, WV, home to the West Virginia University, also hosts an interesting pod-based demonstration "Personal Rapid Transit" ("PRT") System.
The system uses small capsules capable of holding about a dozen people to provide on-demand nonstop service between any of the five stations on the line.
Video includes a full ride along the line from the downtown Walnut station to the campus Medical station, and various clips of travel along the way.
Nominal fares are charged to non-affiliates of the University, but the system is free on college football game days (as was the case when filmed). Users push a button indicating their destination when entering station turnstiles, which triggers a pod request to the location if one is not already in the queue.
    Filmed in November 2021.

I went to WVU in '78 & 79. The PRT was partly built-out then.
