There are plenty of interview videos out there, from the early days up to 2023. Also several magazines did interviews with them and printed them. There are also a couple of videos available where the girls commented their early music videos which are super fun to watch.

I like this appearance on Japanese TV (NHK), it's from 2020:
      ruclips.net/video/Dr2gQ896fa0/видео.html
They performed BxMxC, a very popular and unique song, and then they did a short interview afterwards. The video has English subtitles. Seeing them in a TV studio is a bit different from all the other interviews and performances, except the one time they performed "Gimme Chocolate" American TV.

Great reaction.🦊"The PIA Arena was the place to be" ... true, but exactly the same can be said for every concert they do, wherever and whenever - it was the place to be.🤘🦊🤘
They keep that same energy up without any drop in quality for the entirety of every concert. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan like this one or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world.
About the song itself - they debuted 'Road of Resistance' in London in December 2014 before anybody even knew what it was called. Apparently Yui insisted they play it there for the first time as a thank you to the UK fans and it has become a sort of anthem or signature song for them ever since.
More often than not it is used to close the shows (at the PIA Arena Clear Night it was actually the second song of the night).
The official video is also a live performance (and one of the official videos that uses the live audio too) and was only the third time they'd played it live, but it was the first time they played it at a big arena show in Japan. The staging for that was quite special and Su has said that part of that performance is one of her fondest memories ... if you watch it you will know exactly which part of the performance she was talking about.
'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about believing in yourself, forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else. So if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London in 2015.
This was the Kami Band (of the West) playing live of course and all Kami Band members (East or West) are incredible musicians ... they have to be given that every BABYMETAL song is different and they incorporate and include so many different musical styles and genres with all the different metal genres too.

They had a number of reasons to be happy at that concert. It was the first one with Momometal who was announced the previous day as a full-fledged member with huge acclamation by the audience. And this was the actual first song with their new outfits after the opening number with "METAL KINGDOM" which has specific ones.
Yes, I have one of these flags, only that mine has the previous logo still including Moa's hearts and Yui's skull (I need a newer one, hehe...).

The version of this song from Legend 2015: The New Year Fox Festival on their official channel is worth seeing. It's sort of considered the definitive version of the song for reacting to.
Oddly enough, at this performance, they did RoR as the second song of the night. Normally it is the finale of the main set before they do the encore.
Babymetal pits are rowdy but not too rough, but it varies from country to country. In Japan they were pretty chill, but when I saw them in Australia, the pit was a fair bit rougher. I think it honestly depends on the country where the concert is being held. I was at this show, and the crowd blocks were actually kind of small, which made it kind of hard to get good mosh pits going. Still, it was an amazing show regardless.
Su-metal is in her element on stage. She has been singing professionally since she was ten years old, and she has been the lead vocalist of Babymetal for more than half her life. She's a born performer who absolutely lights up the stage whenever she is on it. The first time I saw Babymetal live, my single biggest takeaway from the experience was how absolutely mesmerizing and powerful her stage presence is, and it's something that video doesn't really convey so I wasn't at all ready for it.

Well it was the end of their concert and the, realized that they still pull the audience wirh their new line up, contrary to so many memes. It was in theory the start of their World Tour.
And in fact this is a significant oart of their real importance. They have about 40% female Followers and an age range between 5 and 85. That's unusual for metal. In Japan Metal is still a rather limited audience but Babymetal is above this fanbase. But that they then were able to make their international debut so huge was totally unexpected. They are not the most succesfull band in Japan but they are the most successful japanese Band international. That is the reason why many japanese Metal Ba ds are also Babymetal fans. Their japanese promoters react much more relaxed. As an example Band Maid was born at the same time as Babymetal but their success only happened recently. They made a tour through the US and when they had a blackout the girls had to improvise. So they tryed to add some of their i.provisations to their normal tour program. This gave their management enough trust that they booked bigger locations in japan. If you consider Babymetal has over 4.000 guests oer performance while BandMaid had to work with 300 per performance for years and now they also fill huge arenas.

    • @Hokkyo11
      @Hokkyo11  6 месяцев назад +1

I agree. Back when I was living in Japan in the 2010s, metal wasn't very popular among my Japanese friends. But my friends from Europe were so hyped to here japanese metal. Actually the reason I knew about baby metal back the was my international friends.

Excellent reaction and an amazing performance. To answer some of your questions / ad a few tidbits:
*1). Backdrop:* 2nd song EVER with Momo being official, she was made official the day before. 2nd concert since return from almost 2-year hiatus. Kami Band also stabilized with Kami West as primary. Babymetal is about to embark on their intense ~100 show world tour.
*2). Su’s happy:* She wasn’t sure how the fan turn out will be after hiatus, and to see this many fans return with unflinching support must be amazing. Also, first time they were “whole” since Yui’s departure in 2018, must be a sense of relief on stability and future.
    ------
While you should freely enjoy this journey your way, there are a few exceptions/suggestions worth noting:
1). There are reasons we suggest specific song versions - some are just absolutely epic, some have special segments missing in other shows, and some for video/copy right reasons on youtube. If you see multiple suggestions for same version, I would trust the ONE.
2). Live better than MV. BUT, if you plan to do a re-watch/2-views in same reaction, then I would suggest the MV first, then live.
3). “For the Fox God” channel has best concert videos with solid subtitles. A few other channels are great too, but may not be as comprehensive/missing subtitles.
4). Babymetal’s channel: “Official” = MV or live footage with studio audio. “Official Live” is usually with live audio. This makes a big diff due to Kami Band not in studio recordings.
5). Avoid compilations when possible. They’re just not that great. And, originally done for copyright. However, not as pertinent recently.
Sorry for long rant lol, hope it helps!

Dude, your BM reactions are really great! You really show attention to details and show that you are really absorbing info about them, thanks for this. I am a newer fan to BM myself, about 9 months now, still learning more. To add to your comment about BM uplifting a person and changing a persons life? This is so true with music period, so many people are saved by good music and BM is certainly in that category. I myself thankfully have never been in a real dark place, but thankfully since I have been enjoying BM on a regular basis they always put me in a positive and upbeat mood. The lyrics, sound, and vibe that the girls give off is so infectious that they really make the world a better place. I'm always sad that I missed out on 10 years of BM, especially with Yui, but thankful that I at least now get to enjoy them. Take your time enjoying this journey and I look forward to seeing every one of you BM videos, keep them coming!
As to your comment about not saying much or saying the same thing, I believe it is just your natural real response to what you are seeing and hearing, a REAL reaction. Unless you are a good actor like some of the reaction people I believe yours are pretty authentic and I like your real enjoyment of the artists and music. I notice you got close to getting emotional a few times and that is certainly normal for many BM songs/performances, myself included for sure! RoR is their most powerful song live and a huge fan favorite as you can see why. The Whoah chant in the middle is always a special moment in the shows and with the right crowd can get any fan emotional, including the girls on stage sometimes. Even our lame American crowds do a decent job being involved at this part.
Lastly to touch on the PIA arena Black and Clear Night shows, these 2 shows are extremely important to BM for many reasons. Of course as you can see, these are top notch performances to begin with but these shows set the stage for the future of BM going forward. You probably have already been informed by legend fans like Jake or Grington but I still would like to mention. At the end of Black Night Momoko is announced as the new full member of BM, such a special moment. Between the crowd being super amazing and the girls all knowing they are becoming a full trio again had to be one of the most special 2 shows they had performed in years. As you watch many of the songs of these 2 shows you will see in the girls faces that they get emotional many times, a few times showing some tears. If you can ever get your hands on the BluRay of these 2 shows I highly recommend it, as a true BM fan you would not regret it after watching them beginning to end. Anyways, please keep sharing your BM journey with us, I will be here for every video! 😁🦊🤘
