  • Shades of Green is a United States military resort located at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida owned by the United States Department Defense under the umbrella agency Armed Forces Recreation Centers which in turn is part of the Morael, Welfare and Recreation unit. It was created for the benefit of activity milliary personnel, disable veterans and certain other eligible DoD employees, their families and invited guests.
    The property was opened in 1973 as a Disney owned property called Disney Golf Resort and later The Disney Inn in 1986, in 1994 the United States Department of Defense purchased the resort but not the land from Disney which still owns the land lease, property was rename and opened as the Shades of Green resort.
    It has three restaurants, an AAFES Exchange and two pools and provides transportation to and from all of the Walt Disney World resorts as well as discounted tickets to both the Disney Parks as well as Universal Studios and Sea World.
