You need to do OUR SONG from that album. It was the most critically promising of her career. The writing in that song really fascinated critics at the time .
Taylor wrote the song Freshman year after getting the idea in math class. It was produced by Nathan Chapman, as was the rest of her debut album. Chapman and Taylor met before she was signed to Big Machine, and he had made some of her demos since he thought she was talented. Since Chapman had never produced an album before, Scott Borchetta initially wanted Taylor to work with a producer that did have a track record, which was understandable as Chapman himself said he didn't know how to do a lot of things other producers did technique or equipment wise and sort of had to learn on the job with Taylor each album. She tested a couple but didn't think they had the same musical magic with her Chapman did so she fought for him and managed to convince Borchetta to let her make her album with Chapman (a great idea, since she ended up using him for every album after until reputation, the last song they worked on together being This Love from 1989).
In her early albums the male harmony is almost always Nathan Chapman her producer I’m pretty sure . It’s a pretty great story actually, he was just a demo producer she had worked with a lot but when it came time to actually make her album her label wanted her to work with a bunch of established producers but she didn’t like anything as much as the stuff she made with Nathan so she fought her label on it. Eventually she won and he produced all of her first 3 albums I believe and had some songs on 4 & 5 as well.
the male harmony you hear is probably nathan chapman, he was her producer up until red. this was the first studio album he ever produced and he just worked magic with taylor when they were a team way back then
All the songs from her first three albums is produced by taylor and Nathan Chapman. He did the background vocals in all of them . It's a big question if she worked with him for rerecordings or not . For love story she didn't . It would be interesting to see how the background vocals would turn out without him . And yeah... I am pretty sure she is not working with him for political reasons🙄.
She seems to have used her tour audio producer for the re-record; Chapman isn't on the credits. Sedoti sings male harmony for her live, I think he did it for the new versions.
She wrote this song in her math class. It was her debut single. And it's great.
Tim McGraw was her debut single and radio! it peaked at 40 on billboard hot 100

I was in elementary when that song was played in the radio or mp3....
Nice reaction🤩
Guitarist Paul Sedoti sings male harmonies live; in the studio, it was mostly her producer, Nathan Chapman (who also plays a lot of the instruments).

It was Chapman in the studio, and Paul Sedoti live.
Oh, this takes me back. She was just a baby, and this is one of my favorites she has ever released.
This was her debut single ....which became her first hit .
I was 11 too. I fell in love with Taylor with this song. She changed how country artists interacted with their fans. omg so much nostalgia in this.

Actually he is in 1989 too but only in one song "This Love."
