      The English composition director used auto-tune for what appears to be purely stylistic tweaks. It gives it the "5th Element" vibe because of that electronica edge.
      JP did a straight run with only natural sounds to the notes. If there's any AT on her track, it was purposefully made very subtle.
      I think it would be really fabulous to get a behond the scenes thing with the performance directors to hear about the process from their perspectives. I really enjoy hearing the reasons for why they choose this piece or that one; any kind of tiny culture reference that sneaks in; also about choosing their performers.
      But then, I'm pld and grew up when midi was cutting edge of sound technology. It's part of why I love to hear about how they got to this sound on this work and all that.
      Some people just think in sounds and pictures. When the audience is comprised of so many varying tastes, it takes a special mind to put the pieces together in a way that resonates with so many of them at once.

    Nanase Ririko is an ex-Takarazuka (the theatre which is well known for the musical shows played by all-female casts) actress.
    She played big singing roles in Takarazuka multiple times and is undoubtedly a great singer, but according to her filmography, it seems she's not much experienced at voice-over singing (idk what it's called.) . I think the mic reduced the loudness of her voice and made it less convincing.
    Fun fact, the Takarazuka adaption of Ace Attorney made Kamiya(the creator of Bayonetta , he’s a friend of the creator of Ace Attorney Takumi) a huge fan of Takarazuka, and Nanase was in the play (she only played a supporting role tho.)

      @@blameitondanny the 5th element type of singing is impossible for humans to sing to begin with, Our throats/voice boxes can't switch that fast to such extreme degrees that's why opera is kinda slow-ish so you can transition smoothly to the next tone(?) but in Baal's case she switches it near instantly during the sequence cuz she's a demon frog with bayonetta's heart meaning she goes all out, so the only way to convey it during production is HEAVY cutting of audio and splicing so it's seamless

    Ngl as a musician I was convinced when I first listened to the english version that this was slightly autotuned. Like the very fast notes are a bit sus in the english version (1:22 for example). But I might be wrong, I'm not a singer so I don't really know.
    However for the Japanese it seems 100% authentic, so really well done to the singer because I didn't know this was even possible.
    Edit : The autotune, if there is any, does not take away from the fact that the singer is really talented, and honestly this pitch perfection is quite fitting since the singer is a demon, so having a bit of eerie vibe to it works very well.

    • @revanninja
      @revanninja 2 года назад +39

      That might not be an autotune but editing from Plt to make it fit gameplay. Games have been known to do that with songs speeding them up in certain parts to fit timeslots better. So this may not be on Plt for gameplay purposes.

    • @Dizerfullpower
      @Dizerfullpower 2 года назад +30

      they both are giving off a synth patch vibe, an auditory uncanny valley of sorts. I'd say with the more "authentic" style of Japanese vocals it just becomes a bit too noticeable as soon as this fast-moving doctored part hits.
      doesn't hurt the track as a whole though, since the background music sounds way more artificial anyway

    • @math9172
      @math9172 2 года назад +18

      @@Dizerfullpower "uncanny valley" was exactly the term I was looking for to express how it actually works since she's a demon.
      The Japanese one does sound much more authentic to me tho, there even are a few differences , did they really autotune this one?
      I feel like, since English is the original voice and Japanese is a dub, they made the english VA (or singer) do the song, edited it slightly at times for gameplay purposes, but then the japanese VA dubbed the finished song.

    • @math9172
      @math9172 2 года назад +5

      @@revanninja Well, editing of any sort is basically autotune, but yeah it does make sense that PG would change it to fit the gameplay.
      Edit : Sry I misspoke. Not "of any sort", but if they cut a few notes short, move the orders of the notes or change a few pitchs, I do consider it autotune.
      Of course a filter or echo isn't really autotune.

    • @revanninja
      @revanninja 2 года назад +13

      @@math9172 I Dont agree with any editing being Autotune as there is a LOT of ways to edit songs without it being an autotune see for example the ones where you have one singer singing dozens of parts and splicing it all into one song they arent adjusting the song but they ARE editing it.
      It was probably easier for a developer standpoint to have the song sung first then build the scene around the song with editing being used to speed it up to keep the tempo going of the battle.
      Also probably speeding up the singing gaps meant for a singer to breathe and prep for the next lyrics to be smaller.
