I literally didn't even come here because of the reference but once I heard the line I immediately came to the comments and was so happy to see the other jojo fans. Adding this to the playlist and checking out their other songs.
I have a theory as to what this song means judging mostly in the lyrics and maybe the video. I think it is about someone who is injured during a parade (as the video suggests.) The singer is the one who is injured. He see's the ambulance and the workers and envisions them as heroes and powerful leaders. In his delusioned state, he sees the electrical tools the nurse is using, whom he asks to be his wife. I think the window part is him trying to get some fresh air inside the ambulance. I don't really know. It's kind of vague, but that's just my interpretation of it. What a great song.

But, the messes are eventually so big that you need an AMBULANCE: this singer is willing to cut off their nose with your electric knife--to spite their face. They're so angry they'll open a window they can't open with their fist. All these things that are progressively larger disasters that are typical of abusive relationships. But why would you stay with this singer? Well, they wed you! How glorious of a partner we now have, they have a parade honoring them, and we gotta ride with them to their throne in a white-room!
These men are in their 60's and are still killing it. I saw them when their "I Like Fun" album was released. I have listened to them for decades and am so impressed by how they continue to sound fresh and new with each release.
Some things never change, including the consistency of TMBG's greatness. Instant classic, and I love the mid-90s Elektra vibe this track has going for it.

The chorus of this song is one of the best chord progressions/melodies from Linnell I have heard. To me, it's just perfect. I cant even really explain why but I fucking love it. As a musician, I'm continuously impressed by John Linnell's melodies and song writing in general. To ME, and just ME, I enjoy both of these guy's songwriting.abilities almost as much as The Beatles. TMBG doesn't really occupy a certain genre or style... They simply just write... And the music that comes out is whatever the both of them have taken in and used as some amount of influence in the songs they produce. I can hear all sorts of types of music in the catalog of TMBG's music through the years and I love it all. They aren't a "punk" or "alt" or "xyz genre". They write and play it all, and their music is enduring as it's proven itself to be. God love em.

1969 was my guess, too! That's actually Floral Avenue in Binghamton, NY, just adjacent to Johnson City. The fancy building in the background of some of the shots is the Boulevard Methodist Church on Floral and Grand, built in 1907.

I just realized the reason the title is backwards and all caps is because ambulances have AMBULANCE printed backwards on the front of them, so you can read it when you see it in your rearview mirror.
