Wow! Cambria is one of my mom's hometowns. I was lived there briefly when I was a newborn. When I lived down there we went to a pizza joint over there. Fond memories. This weeks shaves has been old spice shave cream in a tube, old spice aftershave, gillette silver blue blade, a unbranded badger brush, store brand witch hazel, late 1940s superspeed gillette razor. Tomorrow taking a day off from shaving and on Halloween I am busting out the original old spice shave soap in a old spice shave mug, treet black beauty blade, with the U.K. version of Old Spice aftershave. Happy shaves!

I picked up a tin tub of LEA a couple of years back during a vacation (found it for cheap - under $10) and loved the soap. It had a cool effect on the face, lathered perfectly and was slick to shave with. Haven't tried the after shave yet, but it's on my radar.
Ken, I was walking through my local dollar store and found the after shave you used two weeks ago on the "Budget Shave" episode. I saw it, I bought (inexpensive), I tried it. The first impression was, I made a mistake. However, over a short time a very pleasant aroma came out. Not a replacement for the olde Brut or Skin bracer but was surprisingly pleasant. You made me come back to DE shaving after being away many, many years. Thanks

Good afternoon Ken! LEA shaving cream, shaving stick, and Mentholated shaving cream are very nice. I notice you had what I think is a lot of shaving cream in the lather bowl. I use about a dime size ball and you can add water to make it creamy and luxurious. Great cushion and outstanding slickness. I like the Mentholated the best. All LEA soaps/creams have a basic soap scent. The Mentholated has a bit more scent, which I find nice. I like the look of the brass Blackbird! I have the Blackland Dart...IMHO it is a bit aggressive and a lot of blade feel. It bites almost as bad as my Muhle R41. It is well constructed and reasonably priced though. Thanks for sharing! Now for the horse hair brushes after you use it and rinse it out, it’s important to take a comb and comb it or else after a few uses it could/will tangle and knot up. Horse hair is the only brush material that will do it. Might want to start combing horse after using it!

For the handle, you can use different grades of sandpaper lighty on it to remove the old coating. Then rub some lemon oil for wood on it. After that's completely dried, use a polyurethane spray. Give it a few coats letting it dry between coats. That'll keep that hand pristine for many a year to come!
I’m i encouraging people to buy even if they don’t agree that the light is making a DEETnine style head or whatever their reason may be... if you love WetShaving or vintage Gillette’s... I suggest you buy it to show Gillette there is indeed a market... hey maby they will bring back the slim or FatBoy!!!

It was me who recommended this shaving cream a while back :) If you want to try the softest boar brush, try out the Semogue S.O.C. Boar Bristle Ivory. You wont be disappointed
You need to visit the bodega bay in California where they filmed the birds. It's an inn know. But it was a filming location out there. Before we were a state we where a con·ti·nent which means none of us belong in the U.S. but them of the native American Indian.
If you haven’t used it, and get the chance - try the LEA Classic hard soap and LEA Classic aftershave splash. I’m relatively new to the brand myself, but my understanding is that “Classic” is their slightly more upscale and (ironically) newer line of products. At any rate, I can attest that the hard soap is a great performer for me. It ticks three of the ingredient boxes that I really enjoy: tallow, lanolin, and menthol.
Difference between the horsehair and badger brushes is they don't kill the horse - only the badger, so the horsehair is actually a ... Renewable Resource. Used to have a plethora of Zippos - always liked the smaller ones, since they fit better into the Levi's watch pocket - beware not to overfill it, since the lighter fluid would soak thru the pocket and give a skin burn. Got a Lea shave stick & it's good stuff - lathers like crazy & it smells nice, too.
I'm trying this in place of Gillette since I found out its parent company used sweatshop labor. Spain treats their workers well and its about the same price.

Don't really want to be "that guy" - I know I'll probably get hate- but in case you read comments from old vids- you probably wouldn't be on blood pressure meds and your father-in-law probably wouldn't be on blood thinners if you guys dropped the hamburgers and have been on a whole-food predominately plant-based diet. If that sounds too "vegan-y" check out Dr. Dean Ornish's work. It's worth at least not dismissing altogether. Just sayin' Yeah- I'm taking good care of my badger brush I got as a gift almost 30 years ago. It's really great and I'm doubtful a synthetic can live up to it. I tried the LEA shave soap, garbage! Too much of a chemically smell, not lubricating enough I had to keep reapplying. But I think the worst part is that I get shave supplies wholesale and paid $10 wholesale for this garbage!

That LEA shaving cream is the cheapest one in Spain. Available at any supermarket (1.5€). The aftershave balm is very mentholated. I like it a lot.
