    Hearing you say that you hope you get at least one good composition made me feel better about my own attempts. Often I feel like I should have many good shots but only get one or two, so hearing someone who's work I admire say that helps.

    with flowing water i sometimes blend a fast shutter speed 1/250 for some bubbles a really long shutter speed 16 stop 15 mins
    and say a 3 stop at 1.5 seconds to bring some extra movement where falls begin, sometimes it works. really nice images Nigel.

    This week video is one of many enjoyable videos I have watched in these past years. You showed me how you went about framing the shot, paying attention of the big rock in the foreground. Superb vlog as always Nigel. Lovely to see that you have made it over to Snowdonia, that’s it now you’ll be up and down the A55 every week :-) The printed composition was beautiful. Afon Lloer with Tryfan in the background should make it easy to find a decent image, however i have always found it quite tricky because your almost spoilt for choice. The advice given in the video is (as always) exceptional.

    Beautiful shots of yourself and background. And love your "drone" shots. I really like the final shot of "turbulence" of the stream and final peacefulness of the mountain. A metaphor of life, where we experience the " turbulance" of existence and hopefully find peace when all is said and done.

    The tree at 13:20 seems like a perfect subject, especially if there was some light hitting one side of it to give it some contrast. Maybe even moreso if it has some leaves on it in autumn. What an incredible location.. Can't wait to see what you make of it in future trips.

    I was in that same spot about 2 years ago with my friend. I think he got better composition than me and he was little bit to the left (looking down) from where you where standing. He didn't get the stream or waterfalls in his shot because he used grassy knoll as a foreground. It made the image much more simple and drew viewers eye to the lake and mountain. I did the stream shots but IMO they turned out more messy than I wanted with the rocks and all.

    A really great episode! It was very useful to see how you scout a location to identify a good composition. And what an amazing location - I spotted a composition that I really liked right at your introduction: the path was a leading line to a background with mountains, a lake, a stone cottage, and some sheep wandering around! There was so much to shoot at that location it must have been difficult to limit yourself!

  • @pixeltrance
    @pixeltrance 4 года назад

    I completely agree that the shorter shutter speed shot looks better due to the water being less distracting. Yet another reason is that you get a stronger repeating pattern in that the dark and white nature of the water repeats the dark, snowy mountain in the background.

    Great video Nigel, from one of my favourite places. I thought I was pretty good at composition but I'm pretty certain I would have settled for the shot where there was horse at the bottom of the frame and come away quite happy. Excellent video :) , so many options in that area. I was there a month ago with my new Z6 :) same set of small waterfalls looking over Tryfan. Wheezed my way up to the wall with man flu for the classic ladder shot, then fell on my backside 3 times on the way back down in the most sodden grass I have stood/fell over on. Next weekend back to Snowdonia just a 5hr drive for me though :(
