This and Deathfire are my two favourite HH novels. “What doesn't kill me isn't trying hard enough.” - Roboute Guilliman “It started raining main battle tanks.” - Dan Abnett
There's also the fact that it was during the war on Calth that Guilliman started drafting the Codex Astartes. Papa Smurf learned much during that campaign.
The failure to destroy the UM can still be excused because Calth still left them stuck on the wrong side of the ruinstorm, so they still were supossedly rendered innefective for the rest of the Heresy. It was only after much work, years and the help of the Dark and Blood Angels that the ultramarines got back into the game. At the end of the siege of terra when it was already too late.
I have an fun 40k thought experiment. It would be complete possible for an bored imperial noble to use a servitor like an video game character and literally play games with people's lives. Which I think could lead to interesting results.
GW should really establish an in-world curse vocabulary. In Correia's 'Son of the Blacksword' books he's got an entire unique, cohesive, swear language based on how in that world demons come out of the sea. They've got the lore material to do it.
I do disagree with your assessment that no other legion could have survived calth like the ultra marines did. I think of the legions only the most disorganized and fractured of the legions would have died there. Given the unique circumstances of calth many legions could have survived given just how hard lorgar and the word bearers fumbled the ball. This isn’t to take away from what the ultra marines achieved, note I said survived not been victorious. The true failure of calth, compared to istvaan, was that the word bearers failed to eliminate the ultra marines command structure and leadership, so despite the chaos those leaders could knit their forces back together. At istvaan, both times, the loyalists lost their command structure and thus it fell to individual squad leaders to make sweeping tactical decisions without full scope of the battlefield.
Thank you!!!! You made the point iv been making for years guilliman and perty are actually the real ones not the best fighters not the best at specific tasks but 100% the ones that would win for their side both of them 100% would be the swing factor for their respective sides.
i would argue while the wordbearers didnt achieve their goal of exterminating the ultramarines they did turn the ultramarines into a force that could never have been beating in a 1 legion on 1 legion fight into something that *could* be combatet during the heresy
I get it from a business perspective, but I still love the fact that Brad is apologizing profusely for giving us more content. Such a different character, and I love him, *mwah* yes I do.
BRO I'm on 'the fall of deliverence' ... I started reading HH in July I have 'know no fear' / 'the honored' / 'the unberdend' next .. The second 2 are only 5 hour audio books but tie into the first so I got all 3
the hate is not as bad as it use to be i would go so far to say there loved now because of their Primark's dark comedy of life i hope this one doesn't start rolling on the floor and start speaking Toungs that made me crack up gilimen hiding in his office from humans but he loves them and understand how thay are under fear that is such a good touch i just want to see them interact now when there all back the lion stated its better for my brother in charge
Sometimes I wish Bobby G. Would take his boys and I mean all of them!! And take his empire of the 500 worlds and close themselves off from the imperium and the rest of the galaxy.
Nah, their greatest failure was trying to space Gorillaman, and him proceeding to dog walk them up and down his own ship. Something I’m pretty sure they still haven’t recovered from, and are now from suffering Nahm flashbacks because he’s back.
the battle of calth is much like the Pearl Harbor, with the US (Pearl Harbor) and the Ultramarines (Calth) wounded and very very pissed off. Both battles awoken the sleeping giant.
Kinda a shame the word bearer and ultra marine never got to reconcile. There's a pseudo meme with gorrilaman finally reading lorgar holy back after 10,000 years that go something like: To my dear brother Guiliman, I know you are a man of reason and I a man of faith. One day through reasoned argument I hope to convince you to see the truth and then maybe we can visit Monarchia together
At least they don't try coming up with original in-universe profanity like some Star Wars novels. What the Hell does "kriffing" refer to, exactly? Or "Sithspit" for that matter?? O_o

"A failure from the start" is a pretty good description for the Word Bearers as a whole and Lorgar in general.
Something something beware the wrath of a patient Guilliman.
I believe it was Pancreas No Work who said that if you give Papa Smurf a chance to adapt after ambushing them then you've already failed
Word bearers werent aware of ultra smurf plot armor
Hi there folks.
I’m the one who made these pictures 3:08 3:13
They were made in Garry’s mod and edited in GIMP.
Hope you’re all like them.
Impressive .. Most impressive.. Like.understatment there beautiful❤
Holy shit you are good.
Gmod is another beast to tame and you did it super well.
You are really quickly becoming one of my favorite 30k-40k lore ppl
Girlyman was too angry to die
Thanks man ! And Happy New Year!

The Battle of Calth is the reason I'm collecting Ultrasmurfs in Horus Heresy.
Great video General. Happy new year 🫡
Say Bradley, did you do a video on the Anchorite? That Word Bearers Dreadnought that returned to worshipping the Emperor. If not, do you want to?
It's on the list!
@GeneralBradley101VA Cool. Looking forward to him and the Legion of the Damned.

If they'd tried to hit the Imperial Fists there, the Camponel never would have breached the drydock.
No other legion was large enough and versatile enough. The Ultramarines lost easily an entire legion's worth of Astartes.

Anybody else watch the video for the kiss he gives us at the end? Just me? 😂😂😂 keep it up. I love the videos dude
Any other legion can be slowly grind out , for some atleast but not the ultramarines for they will keep coming , adapting and will inevitably win
i would argue while the wordbearers didnt achieve their goal of exterminating the ultramarines

THE CALTH HIGHGUARD LIFE EATER VIRUS BOMB SCENE IS BADASS

Never under estimate the Emperor's blue prudes

They now fear blue gloves or gauntlets

Inspiration respects no schedule. Kinda wonder how the Anchorite got out the underground fight alive, as in how he managed to survive his surrender.

...Word Bearers = Preaching over Professionalism
know no fear is great
only parts i dont like are when ever john gramaticus and the other perpetuals show up
19:07 Not only that. A wounded enemy is far more dangerous.
Their greatest failure was not making sure to kill the Raven Guard
At least they don't try coming up with original in-universe profanity like some Star Wars novels. What the Hell does "kriffing" refer to, exactly? Or "Sithspit" for that matter?? O_o
37secs i love your videos man keep it going
Slight error where you keep saying "World Eaters", not "Word Bearers".
STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!
World eaters did calth new theory
Ultra Marines equal Smurfs.
Tach alla, was geht?
Perhaps the next vid should be on the Word Bearers, the idiot zealots need a good study~
nu-uh. Plot armour. Logically speaking Guilliman should have died that day along with his legion.
