Norman Smith was such a genius and very kind person. I met him during the recording of Singapore Silk Torpedo by The Pretty Things. He did a fantastic job producing a lot of records by The Pretty Things, including their masterpieces S.F.Sorrow (1968) and Parachute (1970). R.I.P Norman!
We love you Norman Smith. We may never have ever heard of The Beatles if you hadn’t worked hard to help get their sound across & your words to George Martin when he asked you what you thought of them
Loved this interview, and didn't know he signed Pink Floyd. Talk about being on the ground floor with two of ,if not the two biggest groups of all time. Unbelievable!
Strange this info wasn't listed! Date this was done is important! This idea he puts forth at 20:10 , that the Beatles were glad to dump Pete because girls liked him, is silly. THEY wanted a better drummer and got one! it's that simple. 26:02 Yoko may not have directly broken up the band but she poisoned John's mind and filled him with "you're better, (WE'RE better!)) than this group" bullshit. It's SO true that LOVE IS BLIND!
John Lennon met Yoko Ono in nov 1966 right? So she can't have influenced him on Rubber Soul. Love that album btw. Got great Lennon tracks too. Funny how his experience was otherwise. Thanks for the interview!

What a wonderful and charming man!
Lovely interview, enjoyed seeing him with such an appreciative audience. Great interviewer too. Loved Norman's solo career too
Dont Let It Die , a great hit of him by around 1971, i was 13 and starting to pay more atention to music. Thank you sir Hurricane Smith
To give Norman credit where it's due, he had a distinctive style of singing!
An incredible interview. Thank you.

@@lamper2 i bet theres a bit of truth in his statement on chicks with Pete, just compounded the fact that he couldnt play shit properly at times
Thank you for uploading this
❤❤❤
More than set up the mics - recorded and mixed as well.
so many points in the Beatles story when the group could’ve come to a grinding halt that initial meeting with george Martin was just one of them
This was March 2007 , sadly he died just a year later.
What were the other songs that Norman wrote?
Como traduzir para o português?
Filmed in a bus station apparently
Actually "Oh Babe" was #4 in the UK. Great guy though.
I wish they would have let him go on with his story.

Thanks for the interview!
Hes a little mixed up in his age
The Beatles never played 'No Reply' live ..... he has an imagination .....
He seems like a classy guy. I only wish that he had turned up the Bass and Drums in those early recordings.
Hell no
