Well done presentation!!! Im fascinated with life & career of Mr Norman hurricane Smith!!! Thank you very much for sharing your expertise on sound mixing!!! I can't believe there's only three or Four comments on your well done presentation?👈👀
Another excellent video. About time someone gave Norman Smith his due. Many thanks. How about something about Ken Scott (although we do have his commonly available autobiography)?
As a mixing engineer myself, learning more about what went on behind the scenes always is an inspiration. Given Norman did Rubber Soul, I think it clarifies that he was more than capable in handling what was to come, but simply got bored, which is absolutely normal (pardon the pun). Excellent video, will be following up more videos.
Good stuff MMO. I have watched several of your videos and ALL have been informative with great pictures and stories. You deserve more viewers, so here's a gratuitous comment to up your RUclips algorithm. : )
I see the pretty things do sf sorrow live some years back...was wicked and a dream come true to see them .Great album ..balloon burning is a tripping masterpiece
Don't forget Ken Scott, Pete Bown, and Stuart Eltham - along with Norman Smith and Geoff Emerick, those were The Beatles 5 main engineers, and they had a lot of talented assistant engineers who went on to do great things (e.g., Alan Parsons), as well as having George Martin's then assistant, Pete Thomas, sort-of producing parts of The White Album while George Martin was away on holiday.
Norman would have sold the song "Don't let it die" to Lennon but for a friend who told him not to, because The Beatles were a thing of the past in early 70's. That's what some people say.
Norman's song was replaced when the Beatles realized they had to squeeze in a "Ringo song" ( cover of Act Naturally). He almost got on their rocket to riches! watch the whole video!
An interesting bio well told.
Thank you!

Thank you. Good idea, Ken Scott had a great career!
I agree. And I prefer a lot of what he did with The Beatles to what Geoff Emerick did@@mixingmasteringonline

Thank you! He chose his own career over continuing to work with the Beatles, It must have been intense by 66.
