I like how the first cello bit feels like the strange and unsettling movements an undead would exhibit as it tries to stand up and walk, then the tune sounds like a march, portraying the undead horde moving confidently like an army, and then the first motive repeats in the process, as the dead men keep coming back to life. Hits just right to me

The pace is perfect: It starts slow, you and your mercenary company exploring a seemingly abandoned ruined castle, with all its eerie corners... A crackling sound, imagining things in the shadows.

Suddenly the thrill sets in. You and your brothers see things of unimagined horrors which you would only hear from tavern stories: Undead, with their rotten skulls and bodies, skeleton warriors, move from the shadows, rise up from the ground and start moving toward you. The men's resolve is tested.They come crawling from every direction towards your men.

The men fiercely fight with all their might against the horde of undead warriors, cutting them down one after the other. The undead drop quickly, BUT

They keep coming. Despair approaches. The undead have managed to get past the spearwall phalanx formation of your men. One of your best buddies gets overrun by undead and torn limb to limb. They are just too many! The men know they cannot hold on for much longer. After each stab and slash the men breathe heavier. There is no way out.

The only thing thats missing from this track in the game is Wayne June narrating the impact of the brothers and enemies efforts

This game can be really cinematic at times
A definite accomplishment for Battle Brothers is that it managed to make undead scary again.

I think this is my favorite track in the game. So menacing, yet I feel the need to jam.
How can these guys produce such great music and have participated in so little projects is beyond me. Jesus.
Cheers Felipe, appreciate your comment! Two main reasons for that:
- we both have other professions/ventures aside from Breakdown Epiphanies (although we'd like to shift more attention to composing and music production in the future)
- in the indie dev scene it's not that easy to find promising projects and actually land the gig. Competition is feirce and there is an army of young composers trying to strike their first win, so they are incentivized to compromise when it comes to compensation and deal structures. When you do manage to join a project it's not guaranteed that the team succeeds in shipping their game.

This is one of my fave soundtracks in any game.

It really sets the tone of some tyrannical undead emperor wanting to reclaim his empire.
He is not tyrannical... Just another victim. But yes, he's in right to reclaim his empire, for now and ever!

The atmosphere the game did with the ancient undead is simply incredbile there aren't many games out there that portray the ancient times as litteral walking skeletons with armors and weapons that should be on a display in a museum

I like that its more a kind of Ambient kind of music Because you have to listen to this for hours and over and over again.
Such a good track, gives me goosebumps on that first buildup to the snare

My personal applauds to you. If I was (perhaps) a necromancer, proposition of prolonging the song for centuries would've been certain as well as your personal performance. Either way, I am thankful for such efforts at bringing atmosphere of the necromance.
