My favorite part of the city. Very close to where I live. During the first two years of pandemic, when we couldn't travel, I used to go frequently to Charlestown. It gave me that feeling of almost being in Europe. There are so many beautiful squares and alleys to explore. Its so close too to the North End and other parts of the city. Its a gem!

I was fortunate to have grown up in Boston. I had family in Charlestown and spent a lot of time there. Hanover and Duxbury south of Boston are lovely. And one town that was once a well kept secret, Abington MA. I believe it’s named after Lady Abingdon.

I’m moving to Boston, charlestown in January. I bought a place there and I decided to do the move after going there 4 times.
Goodbye New York. I love Boston.
It’s a healthy place. Mature people. Nice sociable life and night life.
    Sports town.
    I can’t wait!!!!!!
I won’t forget my stuffed teddy bears.

      Dorchester or Salem, Lynn,
I'd like to know about these areas.
My wife and I would like to live in Boston or near Boston, but we have just graduated from college, so we are looking for an area where we can live cheaply.

Hey Living Boston..,.you forgot the MOST important downside to living in Charlestown....GOOD LUCK trying to find a parking spot when you need it!!! On street parking first come first serve and when a blizzard hits and you shovel out afterwards you might as well leave your car where it is til the snow melts!!!! For what you'll be paying for rent you could buy in the suburbs AND have your OWN parking spot!!!

Is “The Town” accurate in the “60’s to the 90’s” or is it inaccurate wholesale ?

The movie is it accurate? Yes about 70% when they speak of the Nashua job that’s all 100% accurate

If you grew in Boston in the 60's - 90's and you were not from Charlestown you did NOT go there. No matter what color you were. It was mostly white but had homicide rates of inner city black neighborhoods, most of it was crime related. "Townies are all psychos." is what you heard from the neighborhoods around it who fought with them. Townies were known to smoke PCP "Angel Dust" in the 70's, so they fought wild. It was all families of longshoremen and dock workers. More Bank Robbers per capita than anywhere in the country so that's what the movie deals with. It was like a fortress with a few ways in and out so most people started going there only after it gentrified. The streets are small and buildings are so old it looks like it should be in England.

I’m a fucking Townie, whoever this guy is talkin shit he wouldn’t go past Sullivan Sq. I love these people who have never stepped foot in the neighborhood having an opinion about the people and culture of CTown. You will never find more solid people than in that square mile than any neighborhood in Boston…FACT!!!😅
