@@nemowastakentoo thanks to you I learned this is a thing I can do
@@MarcKoenig haha I check your channel and tubebody extension told me that you didn't have a pinned comment. So it wasn't all me. Will start my dentistry channel this coming week so I'm looking at yours for growth inspiration. All the best and good luck.
Amazing! It's called a rapid stream of consciousness! Thanks!
Ali typing so 'productively' that he doesn't even bother completing his sentences :D
This tutorial is the KING of all tutorials. I have it bookmarked and watch it every few months for a refresher. Thanks @Marc.
yes, this is so dense, I can not even; big thank you, I keep coming back to it, too

You deserve a check just for putting this video up. DUDE, have you saved me a boatload of time and handed over to us all REAL value! Major thanks!
This is one super rare video a simple like is not enough expression how thankful I am you sharing this knowledge!
Great video Marc, thank you for the effort!
This video singlehandedly makes me want to actually explore Roam properly. Like literally this video would have made the difference between it becoming an integral part of my workflow vs something I abandoned because I thought it was too simple. Thanks Marc!!! This vid is 🔥
WOW thanks David. I'm going to put this in my inspiration quotes in Roam for when I need to inspiration to make a video 🥰
Thanks. I've been using Roam for a couple of years but learned several new things here
This was SO so good. I think this actually the perfect video to explain to someone what Roam is and does without them having to endure one of those mundane "intro" videos.
This video is mind-blowing and very useful - thank you!
I love this format of information delivery!!!
(Helpful that I remember the J, K, and L keys in RUclips, and of course - spacebar for pause!) - This is great.
Thank you Marc. Amazing.
been back here many times. godlike!
This is gold man, thank you
Thank you for this thorough video. I found it a bit hard to keep up with it as the pace was fast, but your voice, tone, and speech pace were calm, and they helped me stay until the end.
This was PHENOMENAL! Thanks for creating.
🥳 cheers
This is by far the best video on Roam ever :). Amazing Marc.
Thanks Dhruv! 😃
Man this video is next-level practicality - thanks so much for sharing all these
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Jim :)
Awesome. I have watched it a few times and learn more each time.

one of the best roam videos ive ever seen
🙇🏼♂️
This was perfect. Thanks for the epic breakdown. Exactly what I needed to reduce overwhelm and decide that I can actually use Roam.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow this is super helpful, please keep the content coming. Will send this video to so many friends.

Used OneNote,Notion,Notability, Evernote, Apple Notes Obsidian - I think this was the best Roam video by far!
This was awesome! I'm a longtime Roam user and I learned quite a few things.
Great to hear :)
Thank you for your very helpful video 🙏
Thank you so much for this such excellent content!!!
You have just sold me Roam :). Amazing for productivity , endless possibilities . very well explained . doing great Marc. from your fan!
Thanks Naveed! Appreciate the love 👊
Just as I was about to switch to one of the newer apps... I find out there's 14 minutes of things I haven't been doing right on Roam. This is great, thank you
I had to listen at .75 speed! You sound really laid back. Thanks for the rich info.
This is mind-blowing! thanks for all your hard work
Glad you enjoy it!
Appreciate the video and the hard work u put into it!
Thanks! :)
Fantastic Marc thanks for such epic insight
Glad it was helpful! :-)
Amazing, pioneer, contributor that inspires. Well well done!
Thank you Thomas!
03:53 I love that you used the PT hallway as your dark and foreboding picture
You might be the first person to notice this, kudos ;-)
I'm a graph database person. It's how I think. Also wikis. I love the way Roam works from your description.. it is intuitive to me. Thank you for this extremely condensed tour through it.
I have previously used a thing called Axon Idea Processor, and have been a Confluence fan -. but Roam has much less baggage clearly. Magic.
I have been using Roam everyday for the last 8 months and this quick tutorial was freaking amazing...well done! I have been using much clunkier workarounds for many of these commands. So cool...thanks!
Awesome that there was value for a longtimer like yourself!
Incredible job marc. thank you. thank you.
Thanks David 🙏
can't believe how often I come back to this video. Amazing!
I love these comments. Someone told me they're watching it by going through 3-4 tips at a time and pausing and analyzing backgrounds frame-by-frame, over the course of multiple sessions.
thanks friend!

I've been using Roam for nearly a year and I still learned a bunch of stuff (even though I kept stopping to think, damn Marc, this is a gnarly project to build.)!
Wow I'm honored! Glad there were some tips for you in the 100
I keep coming back to this video
This a great rapid-fire introduction. I expect to use it to support the creative delivery of my Perfect Pitch |How to Resonate with Investors learning program.
This is insane Marc, love it
heheheh 😊
The goto tutorial for all roam newbies and rusties alike! cool video Marc!
Thanks Atif! 🙏
Incredibly helpful
Wow! I learned more watching this than entire playlists.
hehehe thank you!
Love all the time stamps
As someone who has never used Roam before, this was awesome. The editing is so on point, along with the way you spoke through all the tips. Made it so fun to watch!
booya Maneetpaul! Glad it's useful coming in 100% fresh! One of my biggest concerns re: Roam is info overload and onboarding feeling like a slog instead of fun. :) cheers
Nice work!!
It was Awesome... super fast. I started with Roam last November, but I learnt a lot with this video. Thanks a lot.Marc
Glad it was helpful even for a grizzled veteran like yourself!
Great intro to Roam. Although I have been using it for some time now, this was a good refresher.
👊 cha boi
Cha boi club welcome friend! :)
Solid video, well done putting this together!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude, I know how much goes into this kind of thing ... I'm just in awe. Great work, fun pacing, visually attractive. Thanks, man!
Thank you for your kind words Mark! Means a lot from a fellow Roam traveler :)
@@MarcKoenig yes, the coffee break within the video is a great visual pun and, well, it really helps one to catch some breath, since the pace is like whaaaat. and the vid is simply amazing, thank you so much.
Very nice high quality video. Well done!
Thank you very much!
This is a fantastic tutorial. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it Christopher!
Thank you for taking the time to make such an awesome video about Roam
Glad you enjoyed it! :) Are you using or planning to use it for content creation on your channel? Or music-related tasks? Would be interested to hear
@@MarcKoenig kind of you to ask!
I’ll try to use it for everything. (But Omnifocus and Omniplan for tasks/project management)
It is extremely powerful with the block references, etc.
I’m using it for content creation, music, marketing, website building and so on. In a complex world it is easy to get lost. Roam seems to be a good savior
Best. HowTo/TipList. Ever.💫
In awe!
You put soooooo much time & effort into making my life a lot easier!
I bu(r)sted into a loud, crazy-happy-bullet-point-inspired "GRATITUDE for the Roam Geek Guy" dance!
My husband came downstairs to figure out why I was cheerfully popcorning around the kitchen island while yelling out loud, hahaha.
When I explained your awesomeness he replied: "Good. So, you can teach me Roam on the weekend." 🙃
Well, not quite (read: "not even close" obviously), but I'm gonna start with my own DN first thing tomorrow.
So, expect me back here daily for a while, ahem, haha. And I'll surely watch your other videos too.
Thanks again for helping newbies step into the world of Roam on the right foot, which is so-so-SO much better and less "intimidating" than having to start from scratch while staring at a blank (+ one dot) RR canvas!. Cheers, Ellis
Liking and commenting just for the timestamping alone! XD
And great advice! As an avid Roam user, this was very helpful! Thank you!
Haha seeing if the timestamping worked was a bit of the fun for me. Thanks for appreciating my compulsive meticulousness
Amazing video, Marc! The fast way to capture a screenshot was my biggest takeaway! That makes storing stuff so much easier!
glad you got an actionable tip! I use that one constantly
bonus tip: you can tag screenshots by the kind of image it is to find quickly later. I tag all whiteboard brainstorming photos I archive and add to my database so I can find it later if I query [[topic]] + [[whiteboard-pics]]
@@MarcKoenig great idea! Thanks!
Knocking it out of the park again!!! Nice work. This should stand for a while 😉
Wait, did I see a [[Mark Twain]] reference in there?
@@markrobertson5395
to be honest I made so many random jokes in the background to keep myself amused during editing that I don't even know for sure 😅
so just in case: public service announcement to take 5 minutes to read "Two Ways of Seeing a River"
www.thoughtco.com/two-ways-of-seeing-a-river-by-mark-twain-1688773
Thanks for the great video!
My pleasure!
ummm... wow. I'm super impressed and overwhelmed!
hahaha, we'll get some more reasonably-paced content going here soon :-)
Wow! Thank you!
You're welcome! :)
This was very helpful
Awesome video! Learned a ton!!
Definetily subscribed :)
Awesome, thank you!
Fantastic! And thanks for time coding all the tips.
Glad it was helpful! It was a glorious slog!

But you be the Slog Master!
one of the most useful videos on Roam 👏👏👏
😊
This was good. I watched 1.5X speed. good for starting and now I know where to look what, when I need them. Thank you, Marc!
If you could still watch it at 1.5x I’ve failed. Need to speed up my delivery...
Wow, Impresionate!
🙏
life changing - literally!
Sorry to disturb you. I am transferring my Roam Research's Beta Account: 1 Graph. Contact me if you need to. Support to e-mail reset and change the password.
I'm a Notion guy but with this video I might want to explore Roam too, well done Marc!
perhaps the ultimate PKM compliment
17:57 Quick screenshot capture is the best trick 🚀 You just saved millions of seconds 🙌
I capture screenshots on my iPhone all the time!
However, they need to work on this for iOS…It works as designed on my Mac.
On iOS after trying the command /Upload… Nothing happens on both devices for iOS?
The moving graphics are great!...
Your sense of instructional design is terrific!!
Please ALWAYS display your keyboard strokes (overlays?) at the bottom of the video as you did several times in this video.
Thanks geek mee! Back when I made this video I didn't know how to do automated keystroke display. Doing more of this in my tutorials going forward (see the Wife in Roam video for an example) :-)
Appreciate the kind words and suggestion!
Thanks!
Very good.
Loveee thiss !!
Fantastic video Marc. I haven’t used Roam yet but this was unbelievably helpful. Thank you.
🍺great to hear!
And have now started using Roam thanks to your great vid..
@@rajsamarasinhe1115 welcome friend
Great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice work!
Thanks Kate!
Very valuable, bravo men
🤝
Very nicely done. Thank you for putting in all that work to create a reference video for the rest of us.
My pleasure (mostly, editing was insane)! Thanks Michael :-)
Didn't know anything about roam but learning a lot! 👊 cha boi :D
Cha boiiiiiii
This is amazing.
No you are
Bless you
I really enjoyed this but I'll admit I started to get lost halfway through. Would love to see some shorter "Here's how I use Roam to do X" type videos, I think part of why I got lost is because I'm still not clear on what Roam does and why I'd even need something like a query.
Thank you for your candid feedback! Love this
I don't think this video is the best standalone resource for pure beginners or those who aren't already interested in Roam - it's more of a grab bag useful to all stages that you can reference over time once you've got some level of buy-in.
What how to use Roam videos would you want to start with?
p.s. send me a DM on Twitter if you want to go more in-depth, I'd love to hear more specific questions, where you got snagged, etc. I'm doing beginner walkthroughs lately and the snag points are really illuminating. @MarcKoenig_ twitter.com/marckoenig_/
very well done
Thank you!
Nice. Since you asked for ideas, would be great to have a video in which you talk about how to publish something through Roam. How to accumulate notes, thoughts, then gradually organize them, then turn them into a blog post or an ebook. Kind of like Luhmann with his zettelcasten.
Thanks for the suggestion, I think this is a winning idea.
